Rear stub axle theads stripped

If these are stripped because you didn't cut the peened area of the nut off before removing it, then you can probably get away with just cleaning up what is left with a thread file and putting a new nut on. The peened area will necessarily be AFTER the threads that actually secure the nut, so the harm done is more cosmetic than anything. Be prepared to spend a couple hours with your new best friend Mr. Thread File though...

Both sides are the same, so you don't need a "driver's side" specifically. You'll need one from a 280Z, the spline count on the 240Z are different.

Last I checked, new ones were still available from Nissan, but they aren't cheap...

Aren't the stub axles also referred to as half shafts and isn't the half shaft that slips into the differential on the passenger side 1/4 inch longer than the driver side in an R200 diff which is what most 280Z's came with?

I'm still very much the novice but am learning so if I'm wrong, go easy!

Cheers,

Roy
