I just came across a 76 that was stripped and painted several years ago, engine overhauled, BUT the entire interior along with the bumpers and trim are all thrown into the cab. None of the reassembly outside the engine bay is done.

I'm thinking parts car, but the body looks pretty good although modified slightly.

Any thought on value for an offer?

Parts vs. project would be based on the prevalence of rust (frame rails, floors, battery tray, wheel wells, etc.).

Value as a parts car depends where you are and the relative supply available (I assume relative scarcity on the rock...). A decent parts car can be had in the southern US for under $1k. Value would depend on the quality of parts that can be pulled from the vehicle. Some thoughts:

1. Interior parts in great shape seem to command a premium.

2. Engine/transmission are relatively valueless unless high quality recent rebuild or modified (e.g. Weber's).

Browse Ebay and check out the parts cars as well the sale price on some parts. The nice thing about getting a parts car cheap is you can fund it by selling off the parts you don't need if you plan it right. Lot of work though...

Have fun.

Undercarriage is good at a glance, good dash, I suspect the body mods (front @ rear wheel extentions and molded rear spoiler) were likely tied to body reairs. From what I could see it looked good - got me thinking one good all stock car and the spare body might make a good V8 Conv :)

As you pointed out - not a lot of spares on the rock - so I am forced to think of tranport cost - I'll spend 1K regardless - from the southern states 2500.

I'm thinking 3500 ? a dash is 1200.

The thing is the value of individual parts will always add up to more than the value of car (unless a really valuable VIN # is in the equation). I wouldn't get too hung up on the dash, that's how all these parts cars are marketed (if the dash is decent). Fair question is, with the next $1200 (and that sounds high, most 240 dashes which I've been watching are $600-800) you have to spend on the car, would you put in into the dash or something else (mine next set of funds will be body/paint & brake upgrades). Spending $1200 on a dash for a car whose resale likely wouldn't be much more than $10k if near perfect doesn't make sense unless you are competing in concours shows.

$3500 is fine if it won't take much to get it on the road.

Have fun,

Thnx for the perspective - I've sent an email to the guy, I'm gonna call him tomorrow if I don't hear back.

I'll see if I can get a picture to post - it's a weird scene - evrything is jammed into the cab/rear and it's full - the hatch was tied down.

Talking to the owner today - he said it was running and the price was subjective(???) and when pressed subjective meant $9000 - I was speechless other than goodbye. No counteroffer.

Still looking.
