torque setting

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any tips on how to tighten the crankpulley bolt down withought the car moving? Does any one know the torque setting as well? I sure do not want that bolt coming loose.

Put an adjustable crescent wrench on the camshaft knobs in between the fourth and fifth lobes and torque the cranshaft bolt to 100 ft lbs

I'm sure that Shane means 'camshaft'. I use a long breaker bar and socket on the crankpulley bolt. With that against the ground it holds the engine in place while you torque the cam bolt.

Thats what I meant, but he is trying to torque the crankpulley bolt, or am I wrong!

Oops I meant to say crankshaft, I just now saw that.

So I need to take the valve cover off to put the crescent on there right? Will that scar it up or any thing?

There's a spot in the area of the camshaft where Shane mentioned that you can tighten the wrench against. I put a block of wood between the head and the other end of the wrench.

I started to think that I read it wrong. But, no it will not scar or hurt the camshaft that is what the notches are for.
