Dashpot

Featured Replies

Hey guys, you know the dashpot? the thing above the throttle body. is their supposed to be a tube attached to the top of it? plus, what is the purpose to this anyways?. Thanks.

I can't help you. Both of mine are 240 or 260.

Having said that it could be throttle opener for the A/C.

Part of the anti back fire system or any other zany emmision control device you care to think about.

Best advice is to get a FSM, it will save you much fustration.

No tube attaches to the top of the dashpot. There is a white plastic cap that is usually broken or missing that screws on to the top of it. It's emission control related and supposedly reduces CO at idle. Only the manual trans cars had them. The FSM doesn't really get into much of a description of its function. It only talks about adjustment.
