Posted February 5, 200421 yr comment_67179 I have a friend who is a tech at the jeep dealer. A customer wanted some additional work done to a new Cherokee. That afternoon a storm comes up and the car is hit by lightning in the lot. Now the car turns over but no crank. After assuming all the electronics are fried and begining a swap he notices that even the new parts dont respond. After going up the ladder at jeep, he finally gets the right guy. The car metal is making a magnetized enviroment he says. It needs to be degaussed. My friend gets a degaussing tool from a TV repair man and runs it around the car. With all the original parts in the car, turns the key and RRRROOMM. Car is well. February 5, 200421 yr comment_67195 Actually Daniel you could fry a cars computer with electrostatic shock from your hand. When entering a car and the conditions are right, grabbingm the ECM with out grounding yourself is a big . If you can hear/feel a spark if I remeber right it is like 5 to 10 thousand volts. When you start to see them it like 20. A nature made pocket of EMP. The owner of that Jeep must have normal bad luck!! . :devious: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/10057-to-strange-not-to-be-true/#findComment-67195 Share on other sites
