Bonzi is done, well never really done
Tell more about the off-white, how "off-white" was it when it was new? The new vinyl I got from Classic Datsun is not brite white but it not as dark as my door panels and the old vinyl. Les said that it is because of the age of the old stuff that it is darker because of dirt/sun etc. My new plastic is almost exactly the color of the old stuff so Classic Datsun is right on with that. Just like the Bonzi Lion, I am trying to keep my interior looking stock. I was pretty sure I was right and agree with the Nissan did't mix the colors statement. I agree the blue with off-white interior looks great, I am proud to own one with that combination....the car is dog, but looks great.

Congratsulations on getting your car back on the road. It looks great, I too have an affinity to the blue Z, I have a 73Z with the same color combination execpt mine is an automatic(this has been cronicled). I am not sure if the seats on this color combination where black or where they the off white like the door panels? The guy I got the car from went with more of a light tan vice the off white. My seats are currently a very ugly light tan, I will be changing them out soon, but was going to go with off-white but if black was the color then I got a set of black seats up in the rafters of the garage. After I get my interior back together I will take pictures of it to compare. I got the new vinyl and plastic from Les at Classic Datsun ready to go in...I am just waiting for this guy to complete a precut ready to install sound/heat proofing kit(a subject for a new thread).

Heater Control Valve
Fork out the $120 and do it right. I look at it this way, if the part you are replacing is original it is over 30 years old, your new part should be good for the same amount of time. I for one am not down with all this cheap fixes, I like to use original or OEM parts whenever I can.

need to get her home soon.
I have owned a Z now for over 17 years...one kind or another....I too made the exact same mistake when I needed a jump after not turning off my headlight switch all the way. It was after a day at work...I got the wife to stop by to give me a jump I reversed the cables on my 73Z....I saw the smoke and smelled it too. I only did it for a few seconds, it was a bad day. But I was lucky because my car does not have FI, I reversed the cables and started the car. I later discovered the headlight switch got fried, along with some other things I forgot. I knew better, I always gripped about the positive cable being so close to the body. It happans.....now get it fixed.

Crank Pulley
Thanks Steve....everything is off except the pulley itself. I thought I had a good puller...but no, the bolt is too long and don't want to remove the radiator to use it. I am off to find one...Napa...Sears...here I come.

Crank Pulley
Thank you Bonzi and Steve, I have 27mm spocket in the garage so I am GTG. We plan to reuse the bolt but if it is also defective as was the pulley we will get one from Nissan using the part number listed. I hope this replacement goes well. We got a new factory pulley from MSA, got it for a good price. Any last minute advice before we tackle the project?

Crank Pulley
Does anyone know what the bolt size on the front of the pulley is?

How many 240z's left?
You are taking into account the many more 260 and 280s that are out there. Parts that fit only the 240 are becoming harder and harder to come by. I tell my friends buy them now and start stocking up for future use.

Crank Pulley
Aloha, That's what I thought. I have euro damper in the box in the garage but it will do me no good because the car has A/C. Thanks for confirming my initial thought. Mahalo

Crank Pulley
The crank pulley on our 78 280Z is wobbling. Everything was fine but today when the kid drove it home, it was making a clanging sound. I was able to see why very quickly. The front pulley is good but the rear that is closest to the block is the one that is wobbling. Ideas and fixes?
