Need Tranny WEIGHT...for Shipping Purposes
Hi all, So I pulled my 5spd out this weekend with the intention of having the folks at drivetrain.com rebuild it. Only bummer is when I initially called, the person I spoke to said that for $50 they'd come pick it up from me... as it turns out when I called this morning to arrange this no one's ever heard of a deal like this and I need to ship it to them. Now having lugged it around all weekend I know it's heavy. But I don't know HOW heavy as I don't have a scale and I fear it may be just slightly too big for UPS. Does anyone have experience with sending their tranny somewhere? Did you use UPS or did you call your local freight company? -e

S13 240SX has R200?
So just so we've got this spelled out for everyone who wants to go this route: If you're going to use an LSD intended for a 240SX you ought to get an aftermarket one intended for a 240SX that came without LSD originally. If you get an LSD for a 240SX that came WITH LSD (it was a viscous unit) then you have to do additional legwork to get VLSD stub axles as regular ones won't work. Because your modern 240SX LSD uses 12mm gears to secure the ring gear you ought to be looking at getting an R200 rear end from an 84-9 300ZX because the 75-83 R200 have their ring gear attached by 10mm bolts like the R180. And if on top of that I want a 3.9 ratio I should be looking at an 87-9 NA 300ZX. I will need the stub axles that come with the differential and should be able to bolt my half-shafts to them. While I'm at it I will need the front differential mount, the mustache bar and the curved bracket that connects the two lower a-arms. Is that right? Did I miss anything? -e

ZG front lip and headlight covers
Hey Alan, In the picture you posted, to the left of the airdam #21 and above the Nissan bucket seat is that an underbody tray for the engine bay? Know if anyone still makes a replica of that? Curious...

S13 240SX has R200?
Hey Rob "Black Beaut", If you can fit a newer 240SX intended LSD out of a short-nose R200 into an older 280Z/280ZX R200 aren't you going to run into a problem when selecting the right ring and pinion? Ie: the pinion that matches the 12mm ring gear (which bolt to the newer LSD) will in effect be too short for the longer older R200, and at the same time using an older R200 ring and pinion won't bolt up to the LSD because they use 10mm bolts... Is that right? So basically it won't work? -e

ZG front lip and headlight covers
Look through Alan's gallery (HS30H), or mine, or a couple others and you're bound to find several hot looking ZGs. The front airdam you pictured on the first picture is inspired from the original 240ZR racecars from the 70s. It's still pretty available in Japan and yes also for Gnose kits (they're usually 5piece kits to get a good fit and finish quality).... I have seen some eBay person based I think in Canada sell a custome one piece front end but who's to say how that ones going to fit... Another tidbit, because of that extra trim piece forward of the hood, the ZG uses a different set of hinges for the hood... Our hood hinges on a ZG front end would make the hood hit that forward trim. I'm considering the changeover on mine as well... I first went for a sort of - 432 look although not even REMOTELY as accurate as some people (eh, Alan?), & now the more I see orange or red Gnoses the more I'm liking them... Maybe it's just my love of Series 1 E-Types trying to materialise itself any way it can... -e PS: the two shots of the orange one, and the one shot of the red one are from Alan's Sagamiko Picnic trips, the white one is one I found on the 'net.

Ultimate Garage
Just like lvmy240z I was wondering about what happened in that 10yr span of this guy's life... then again i wonder if it's HIS garage or one he was the contractor on for a client... the pics at the end of random race cars clearly pictured on transporters - I wonder what's the point of those... they aren't in the garage... and when ALL those cars are crammed in there in the end I wonder if he didn't just call up all his buddies to bring their cars down so he could take some nice pics... -e

gotta sell my 69 fairlady
#40 was posted for sale on the bulletin board at MSA in Orange, CA approximately two years ago & I considered selling my '73 to get it. Pictures showed it to be orange/black and had been in storage for the better part of its life. If we are talking about the same car while it was nice it was not a runner as it had sat for so long... If I remember correctly it was listed at $4500-5000 -e

Every car you find in the game which has no price associated to it is either something you will win for competing in a particular event or something which may turn up in the used car garages as the game progresses (yes the stock in each of them does vary over time) or will simply become available to buy when the game thinks your worthy enough... also the present car you receive for getting your licenses differs whether you have all bronze, all silver, or all gold... i'm still waiting for some to post on the net what each series of races will give you in order to be able to concentrate on specific areas of the game to get the cars i want... (which you can't buy)... I really want to know where trs got the white ZG cause as of yet I haven't come across it at all... -e

trs please do say: where did you get the white ZG? does it randomly appear in the used car garages?

Datsun brochure copyrights etc
It's my understanding that as long as you aren't selling your copies you are free and clear of copyright infrigement. (No I'm not a copyright lawyer) -e

for that don't know, in addition to the racing simulator where you can be either driver or team manager, you can also take your cars to a specific area in the game and set up a photo shoot for it and then download the pictures to a USB jump drive to get them onto your computer and on the internet... that's what "trs" did to get those pics of his brown ZG -e
