Fixing Passenger outside door handle
Here is a door handle for $9.99 (16.99 w/shipping) if no one else bids -- this guy has got at least one more right side door handle and many other parts for sale on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240Z-R-Crome-Door-Handle_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6763QQihZ006QQitemZ160156791893QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

280z going for over 6,000 on ebay ...
Greg, Good, clean, rust free, low mileage 240Z's are going for more than $6K now, unless they are going to need major work like a paint job, etc. If this was a 240Z in the same condition, I would expect it to fetch into the teens. Excellent condition low vin 240Z's (and Vintage Z program cars) are selling in the 30's and higher these days.

Recommended hardware to mount spook?
Arne, Thanks for taking the time to post the pics. Your's definately fits better than mine, I'll be trying more bolts to see if that helps for sure!

New pix of the 71
Yep, thats the one I have as well Arne. It seemed to fit well when I held it up to the car, and put a couple of clips on it. However, once the bolts were on, it had a gaps on each side (not very big) inside of the brake duct where the scoop lip did not fit flush with the valance panel. It may be the way the mechanic bolted it on with 4 bolts (with large fender washers). If your's fits perfect with the 12 bolts you mentioned in the other thread, post some pics so I can go back and have the mech do it over with more bolts! :classic:

Recommended hardware to mount spook?
Mine is on with 4 bolts, one on each corner, and one centered between the brake duct and spook center for each side. Large fender washers on each both. Seems very stable, however, the fit is not perfect as mentioned in the other thread.

New pix of the 71
I'll be curious to see how it fits. I got one a few weeks ago, and had it put on the car by my Z mechanic (since he had the car anyway) and there are some gaps on each side where it does not fit the valance panel. The valance panel on the car is not bent, dented, etc so I expected a better fit. If it's not raining tonight, I'll try to snap a photo and post it to illustrate what I am talking about!

Quick 1971 question
Congrats on the new edition Randy! I remember seeing that on eBay, and thought it looked nice in the pics. Did you get rid of the TR-6?? :classic:

Where do these Radio wires connect???
You are correct, my factory radio light is on even when the radio is off. Don't know if it is on when the lights are off, as it is not bright enough to notice in the daytime. I can check tonight when it gets dark :classic:

Nice car, curious as to what front spoiler you have on there. Is it a MSA one or one of those from Les C?

z car frustration!!!!
RD -- I would have to agree with shamus, sounds like the plugs are indeed fowled, try replacing them and see if that helps. I've also tried to clean and re-gap fowled plugs with no success - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't :classic: At any rate, replacing them can't hurt! Of course, it may be that the Z know you're trying to get rid of it and acting accordingly :classic:

Lookat What I did!
It won't hurt. Just looks like an awful lot of grime, and you should be able to get most of it off. May take a couple of applicaitons however. I would recommend getting a couple bottles, spraying everything down with it (really soak it good - you'll see the grime start to come off) then spray if off with a hose or pressure washer. Reapply to tough areas and scrub with whatever size soft bristle brush will fit (toothbrush or larger!) For less than $10 and some elbow grease should make a major improvement to the engine and bay. Once that is done, you'll be able to see if anything needs more effort. If you do it, please post "after" pics to go with your "before" one here!

What to do with my car
Excellent point Matt -- period mods done to a Z would be an excellent compromise. I think it would be a fun and interesting project as well.

Lookat What I did!
If you want to clean your engine bay, I highly recommend a product called Simple Green. It comes in what looks like a windex bottle and I get it at the local grocery store. Its a biodegradable cleaner that works wonders on engine bays, as well as any exhaust staining on the rear of the car. Cost is less than $5. Just spray it on, let it sit for a minute or two (don't let it dry) and spray it off. Take all grim right off and doesn't harm the paint! For exceptionally dirty areas, scrub with an old toohbrush or other scrub brush (whatever will fit) and spray off. Just to give you an idea of how great this stuff works, the fuel pump started to go on the 72, and it sprayed a fuel/oil mixture all over the passenger side of the engine bay. It had been dried on for several weeks, and using this stuff, I had it cleaned up in about 10 minutes. Highly recommended!

iPhone unlock kid picks a 350Z
A teenager was the first to unlock the iPhone so you can use it with any cell carrier instead of just AT&T. So some company offers him a new car in trade for the unlocked phone, and the kid picks a 350Z: http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/ptech/08/28/iphone.unlocked.ap/index.html

temp sensor
Mine used to stay dead center, but when the old stat died, my mechanic replaced it with an OEM one (while he had the car for other work). Now it does the same thing (goes to the edge of the M). Other posts have indicated that the aftermarket stats can cause the car to read hotter than OEM ones. I ordered a new Nissan OEM stat for it and will be replacing it when it arrives in an effort to get the needle back dead center.
