How much do D hubcaps weigh? (2lbs per sounds about right). The appreciation/cost parameters are in the ballpark... If they weigh less than subsequent caps, you would be reducing your unsprung weight which would improve performance (however marginally)... Fact that they aren't already installed could just be a preservation choice...

Hah...I just scared the heck out of my wife with that video... Very very nice....
  5. agreed. otherwise, do a compression check to make sure at minimum that the basics of the block are in order. at $450 you can part out the rest and free drive train.
  6. Congrats on the purchase. Welcome to the insanity...

Welcom aboard and congratulations! Being that far north, the short summers will be a bummer (not much better here) and I can't imagine what the potholes might be like up there, not to mention polar bear road hazards... Drive carefully....

One word...autobahn.... Mmmmmm.... Congratulations and welcome aboard!
  9. Silly Z community...always knocking down someone who's trying to raise the bar for us... If he makes the sale we could fix the economy just based on the appreciation in value of our historically significant vehicles... I'm going to see if I can find a 70-73 240Z with a factory RB26 or LS1...we're rich!!!

Odd, I don't recall that set of parameters on the aerodynamic tests conducted by the hybridz guys... Must have been an oversight. I wonder what the downforce generated might be at full or half mast...

Defferentially beg to differ...spent money is already gone, whether he spent $10 or $10,000 it is what it is.... The value of the vehicle isn't much. I do agree that the parts may be greater in value than the car itself. Also, if you plan to get another, a parts car in the background is good until you get the new one and running to your liking.

The bug catches the best of us. Great background. Have tons of fun and post pictures asap...
  13. I've heard of Greg Ira...who are the other guys? LOL Congrats man. Doing us proud.

If you want to drive it and have fun. Find a car with the best body possible that needs a paint job (even if mech needs a little work...). Paint as you like.
  16. Depending on what you need (you might want to post that...) 65 miles to Elkton, MD...Paradise Auto Parts...280Z 128 miles to Pine City, NY...Rubin Auto Parts, Inc....280ZX (some interchangeable parts) Try them.
  17. yes, and most of the wreckers will ship as well.
  18. Try www.car-part.com (an aggregate listing system for many wreckers...).

For a non-intiate you've done well grasshopper... Try and find an episode on-line...it's pretty much a documentary on real life in Canada... One out of every three of us has either a drink in our hand at all times, owns a shitmobile, steals bar-b-q's and has a gay drunk wanna-be cop security guard trying to sting us... If we show up at any convention / Z-fest...watch your bar-b-q's...
  22. My line on that one is that it takes true commitment to maintain a physique like mine...

Hehe...a thread so Canadian that I'm sure everyone is scratching their head...
  24. Man, that's just cruel...
  25. Wow...pretty rough starting point... Remember this is old Japanese metal...that surface rust likely means much more beyond...check it very carefully... Might want to start with a better base...pour as money of your budget as possible into a rust free base...after that things get ~easier~.
