  1. Dave...I meant to "thank you" a couple of months ago when you first posted this "How to".So "Great Job". I am quite familiar with the application of the POR 15 products as I have done my Z inside and out with it(pics in my gallery). An experience not soon forgotten I might add. The issue I have with my tank is how to fix some fairly sizable dents in the tank. Any ideas or experience on the repair of those first before using POR 15? I can have it repaired by a shop for $300.00 -$400.00 (boiled.dents fixed and painted). So that is an option. One I would prefer not doing if I could fix the dents... then use POR 15 to finish. Thanks

I have not used Glisten on chromed or polished aluminum. But.... I have used the Por-15 rust products(including Glisten) extensively on my current Z project (pics in my gallery). Several keys I found out the hard way are: no matter what product of theirs, it is best sprayed and when it says you can thin to 10-20%.... that means 40%. Until I thinned it that much it was a mess. This comes from POR -15 customer service. Another thing when spraying be sure your PSI gage is reading at least 80 PSI at the compressor so that you are at least 50 PSI at the nozzle. Other wise your will be globing that stuff out. It definitely does the job it says it does. However, it is a process and unlike applying other automotive paint products. It challenges everyone. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=16619&cat=500&ppuser=7601 http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=16613&cat=500&ppuser=7601 http://www.prp-porstore.com/POR15-Glisten-PC-Instructions.html

This is exactly what I meant when I said...."Communicating and knowing how to work with the environment your in".

Sorry...I had to repeat myself......along with these thoughts. Earlier in this thread I was berated by some for stating... I was insulted for this thread to even be in this forum. I was quickly corrected by some... that this is the General Discussion topic area and if I would read and take time I would be able to figure these more difficult aspects out....etc. :stupid: That was actually a mis-statement on my part. Actually ...the sentiment I was attempting to convey was this... there are numerous posts by individuals who are condoning, sharing their childish antics and generally supporting behavior that screws things up for the rest of those attempting to follow simple regulations designed to maintain the value of everyones investment. It is insulting....to the integrity and effort most of us put forth to amiably co-exist with neighbors while pursuing our hobby. I read 30 posts condoning and trying to figure out ways to get even, skirt the law, and generally how to thumb your nose at societies standards before I said something.
  6. Thanks, Al.......more good information.
  7. Thanks....Lance and Mike for the great information. It has been helpful. Mike...Super idea for making a larger oven.

If after reading the numerous posts by individuals piling on with there socially degenerate quips, stories and opinions on an already not ready for prime time premise and question by Dee Dee "easily amazed"......"So be it". I along with several other more grounded individuals that shared there thoughts... perhaps... should take it as an insult ( I Do) to use this forum for such non sense. It apparently has your attention. If the shoe fits... wear it.
  9. Lance, lookin' good! I am contemplating the powder coating thing myself. Like you the draw back is an oven. I just picked up 20+ various pieces from the powder coater. After closer inspection there are surface scratches from mis-handling and places on exterior trim pieces where they had it hanging and P/C didn't get on it. Needless to say unexceptable. It is going back this coming week. Obviously, I can control Q/C better. The big draw back with a small oven is doing longer pieces like the drip molding and the window/door frames. But for smaller stuff it seems to be the answer. What set up did you end up buying? Do you know anything about these set ups? How does it compare with what you have? www.caswellplating.com/index.html

I think I'll stay out of this from here on since there are only a few in this thread that 'get it'. Ditto for me Stephen....Dee Dee wanted opinions...... she got some.

Who me? Tactless.:classic: I meant to be...after reading some of the posts. They seemed clueless about seeing anything but their side. You are right on... about people getting to know one another. It makes one aware of what is going on, who people are, how they think and less likely to take the attitudes some of these posts reflected. Shall we say more willing to be respectful of others? I am no picture perfect example. Close..(just Kidding) I am in the middle of a complete frame up resto. and for the most part it has been done in my garage in what could be termed a "snooty neighborhood". I have banged, beat, welded, primed and painted there. Not a negative word from anyone (except my wife). But we won't go there. The reason is respect and understanding for what and who is around me. Hell...I have neighbors coming by wanting to see how the car is coming along. All along wishing they had something like that going on. Some come by to visit don't have a clue what kind of mess I have been making in the garage. The key is... I know my surroundings and what it takes to get along. 99% is communicating with others and respect for your environment. There that is my final .02.... Good night .....I am going to bed.

This thread is amazing to me. It sounds like a bunch of ignorant whiney dumb asses. It's real simple guys...the people filing the complaints obviously read their deed restrictions and or ordinances that are in place when they moved in. Didn't you? Ever hear of property values? They are interested in their investment....you see it's about their money. You are messing with their money. Do you like it when people mess with your money? Suggestion...Move to the part of town where you get your Z's used parts.... if you don't want to be hassled. But be warned....it sounds like some of these junkers might accidently be picked up and crushed.

Yes... to your first question. A top notch Z guy in Houston has a ITC spec. 240Z for sale. He built the car and also owns a first class Z shop here. If you look at my photo gallery there are some shots of his shop and some of his work.. Let me know if your interested and I will get you in contact with him.
