Doesn't seem like many people are interested in "discussing" the lame ad. Learning of it's existance, and chuckling over it for a while seems to have satisfied the interest most people have about it. What more is there to discuss about the ad? PS This post is NOT meant in anyway to validate the fact that the "political" discussion took over the thread. I apologize for my part in that. It should have been split off to it's own thread once it got started.
  2. Examine your car, and keep your weatherseals in good shape, replace them when they get rotten, or damaged. This would not be a issue on a well maintained vehicle. FWIW, I had to deal with rusty floor pans due to the P.O. of my car allowing the same problem to ocurr on my car. Won't be happening again on my watch!

Choose the threads you are interested in reading/viewing. IGNORE the rest! Want to add value to the knowledge base, PLEASE do so. If you deem another thread as beneath your dignity, or of no interest to you, PLEASE avoid it, and let those who have an interest partisipate. There is no need to foist your opinion of what is of value, to the exclusion of something another member wishes to have a chat about. Live and let live. There are over 90,000 threads to choose from, surely the existance of a handful that are of no interest to you isn't too great a burden for you to tolerate and still remain a member? There are "Australia", "240K", "UK", "Europe", "USA- Central, Eastern, and Western" forums that may have little interest to some people, should they be removed or not allowed and only a "New Zealand" forum be allowed? Intolerance is an insidious disease.

I know of him. Burt Diamond is his name. Never met him, but I have in the past corresponded with him. He seemed like a nice guy, and didn't give the impression of a person who needed to be stroked. I believe (from what 26th-Z has told us about the previous offer to sell) that Burt is conflicted about wanted to keep the car to enjoy himself, and thinking that maybe he should sell it to someone who could enjoy it more than he can.

Not to start this up again, but.......... I agree with everything you say except the first part of the first sentence. That there isn't a right or wrong side in a discussion (that's what we had going) doesn't matter at all. It is through discussion that people actually learn things (any & all people can do this), if/when they "listen" to other, differing views, and use an open mind to think about them. Stephen and I disagree on whether discussion like this belong here. I feel that there is more to each of our lives than Z's. We are all affected by the politics of our government, & it is natural for this subject to be of concern to some people. People in local (brick & morter?) car clubs discuss more that Chebbies, and Fords, engines, and bodywork. Discussions like this exist on other websites and do not detract from the site specific content (Z content). Friends talk about a lot of subjects. Are we to be seen and valued ONLY as "Z information sources" and nothing else? I thought we were friends here. Perhaps the thread should have been split to make it easier for the people who do not wish to partisipate to avoid it. People post about the birth of a child, the illness of a loved one, the passing of a pet without folks bitching and whining about "non Z content", and I think that is fine. I 100% approve of that. As long as there is no name calling, or personal threats, and a modicum of respect afforded to all, I see no reason that discussions like the above should not be allowed to exist (separate forum?) here. Those that don't wish to partisipate should simply choose to not read the posts, & avoid the thread like most of us do the ZX (or "Boob") threads. It should not be expected that every thread is going to please you (or me, or Bill, or Phred, or Will, or Stephen). Pick and Choose. Ahhh, the right to choose, what a concept!

People had the "option" to either say "I wanna buy it", or get told "Get the hell outta the showroom, I got BUYERS over here." In North America, NO "factory" options on any 240Z's. There were some dealer installed (factory authorized) options over the years.

GRRRRRRRR!! Stupid "Reply to Thread" page wouldn't go away after I clicked "Submit", so I kept clicking.

Headlight bucket is the "bowl" that houses the headlight and it's adjustment mechanism. Fender extension is sometimes called a "sugar scoop" for obvious reasons. Also sometimes called a nacelle.(not often around here, but "old school" sportcar people might say that)

I had figured that if "I" was to decide to sell the car, after having cancelled a previous pending sale, I'd first offer it to the same guy since (as the story was told) He wanted it, and I had liked is offer. Rather than deal with eBay again (saving the commission, hassles, etc).

"K" was the code name for the project when these cars were being created(early/mid 80's). It leaked out to the public in the USA, big time because Chrysler was looking for government loan guarentees to help bail out the company. The had been asleep at the wheel while the japanese automakers had increased market share and cleaned their clocks.

Since it's on eBay I guess we can we assume that the person who wanted to buy it last time no longer wishes to buy it. Wonder if it will fetch the same $$.........(at $22,850 now) It is a beautiful car.
  15. Well, My guess is that like many multi-word terms (for lack of a better description) it has been "shortened" to make conversation a bit easier. Like WMD's, Yellowcake, etc. Technically ( & literally), the term "Factory Restored" is of course, incorrect (like many shortened terms commonly used in the world); and *most* people (especially here) realize that. Since we (and most people discussing them) are not trying to sell them, or otherwise attempting to misrepresent them, I don't see this as anything more than a "nit". Now that we have discussed it, if anyone is confused about the term, they have only to conduct a simple "SEARCH" and they will learn the true meaning of the term.

I editted my last post since you posted. Double check both ends of the wires. If the engine WAS NOT running this way before you worked on it, it's likely that something isn't adjusted right, and doubtful that you would need a new engine. What kind of electronic ignition did you install? Did you adjust the timing after installing the new ignition?

That is my photo. Rotor moves COUNTERCLOCKWISE. "IF" you have it like the photo shows, you are wired correctly on that end of the plug wires. Double check the other end of the wires, it's easy to get 2,3 or 3,4 or 4,5 mixed up. (damn internet connection crashed)

I don't think so. Anyway, wire it like this attached photo and you'll be correctly wired.

1-5-3-6-2-4 In the direction tha the rotor turns. (I think that is COUNTERCLOCKWISE) Try that. I think you got it out of sequence.
  20. Can't find a pic of one, but if you look at the "attached pics" in MikeW's post at the bottom of Page 1 of this thread, there is a small hole in the door frame of the body. A small bullet shaped piece of rubber goes there to cushion the door against the body.
  21. You also have to undo the control cables down at the firewall (on both sides of the trans tunnel) where they hook up to the actual heater control door levers.
  22. I agree with Stephen. They are Nissan Factory "Authorized" Restorations. I don't think Nissan ever tried to pass them off as having been restored in a Nissan Factory (either in USA or Japan). $.01
  23. It's been so long ago that I got them (door bumpers), I don't remember where I got them, but it was either a local Nissan dealer, Courtesy Nissan, or MSA (I know it wasn't VB). Probably will take me a week to find them when I next try to install them. I used your "from the other side" trick to get the plugs out of the chassis for the retractable seatbelts I am installing.
  24. Is there a trick to installing the door bumpers? My car had them when I bought her, but they "fell off" somewhere along the line. I have new ones, but the little plug doesn't want to pop into the hole to secure them to the car. I tried lube on the rubber bumper but it didn't help. Any tips would be appreciated. Carl
  25. That is the same error that dspivey was getting when he tried to upload. I think Mike G needs to know about this error since it seems to be affecting more more than one person. I'll send him a link to this thread.
