No bumpers?
It was one of several car singled out in the early 1970's. Mostly Japanese cars. (Gee, I wonder why?) A) US Car makers? Unions? C) Ralph Nader? D) All of the Above?

No bumpers?
"Shaving" the rear bumper does look good, but that is IMO different that merely removing the bumper (and leaving the mounting holes showing). Same for the front bumper. Shaving and eliminating the indentation where the bumper used to be looks good. Just pulling the bumper (and not modifying the sheet metal) looks bad IMO. On 240Z's the bumpers offer little to no "protection". Back in the early 70's, the 240Z was one of the cars used as an example by the Federal government when they passed the legislation requiring 5 mph bumpers on new cars.

No bumpers?
No Bumpers??? You could do that, and you could also remove the hatch and put a rocking chair in the back so the car looked even more like Jed Clampett's truck. :stupid:

"Wierd Datsun of the Month"
What's that old saying, "Anything more than a hand full and a mouth full is a waste." Either the picture has been worked over, or she has.

Kyle is a member here. There are several people on the 240Z Mail list that have done this.

That's a good video, Dave. I noticed a few scenes from the Mt Hamilton trip from last spring. Good work!!

No, this is. But I'd rather have the Firetruck. (lower maintainance, don't you know!)

Sheesh, Now why didin't I think to look "up" the page? Anyway, when I tried to save it locally, it turns out that I had already saved the info to my computer when I saw it on the older thread. I have been using my late fathers garage as a work space the last couple of years and I found one of them last summer. (you'd be suprised what you will find in someone else's garage!)

Datsun poem!
I prefer Limericks: There was a young girl from Rabat, who had triplets, Nat, Pat and Tat; It was fun in the breeding, But hell in the feeding, When she found she had no tit for Tat. ----------------------------------- A limerick fan from Australia regarded his work as a failure: his verses were fine until the fourth line ? ---------------------------- A macho young swimmer named Dwyer, Really liked playing with fire. One night in the dark He swam with a shark, And his voice is now two octaves higher. ------------------------------------ God's plan made a hopeful beginning, But Man spoilt his chances by sinning; We trust that the story Will end in great glory, But at present the other side's winning. ------------------------------------- A fine man was Father McDougal humble, mild and ever so frugal in his noble search to save funds for the church he aquired free child porn through Google ----------------------------------------------- There was a man from Pyongyang who had an aluminum wang he had two tin nuts that came with his putz and when his dong hit them they rang ---------------------------------------

Undercoating ???
It may be Ziebart Anti-Rust Protection coating. That stuff looks very similar to undercoating.Only way to tell is examine the car in person. If it is, it was probably applied long ago. BTW, at least here in CA, it's not normal to apply undercoating in the engine bay, or on the firewall, or around the battery tray.

seat belts
Ah, when I got the notice of a reply to this thread I was wondering who the heck "Go240Zags" was. It'll take me a while to get used to the new ID. I'm not into college sports, what are Zags? BTW, how do you use 280Z retractable lap belts in a car that doesn't have the pockets for the retractors? Do the retractors for the shoulder belts mount on the strut towers?

Floor pan rust - need to replace or patch? 56k beware
Ah, the Honda with the engine problem. OK, cool. Thanks.

Floor pan rust - need to replace or patch? 56k beware
EricB: What kind of car is that? 510? The floor pans and seat mounts look significantly different than my 72 Z. Just curious.

Floor pan rust - need to replace or patch? 56k beware
I used this method also, but I used plain old cheap as dirt Paint Thinner to remove the remaining "crusty bits" from the floor pan. Simple Simon!

overheating problem why???
Are you *sure* the elect. fans are coming on when needed? Could be a wiring issue, or the temp sensor that activates the fans.

MSA 10th Anniversay Show 2005
I hear you. I was staying at a Best Western that was very close to the MSA show, and I just drove over to the Ramada to check out the cars in the parking lot and have a few drinks on Saturday evening. There are SO many places to stay nearby it is crazy.

MSA 10th Anniversay Show 2005
Hmm, well I *think* it is in Orange. ( from I-5, as you travel East down Katella Road you leave Anaheim and enter Orange) I haven't stayed there the last 2 times I went to MSA. Maybe you should call the number provided by ZRush and ask them how to find their property on the Ramada site. EDIT: Contact infor for the Host Hotel is shown below in a later post.
