Do you mean HLS30? because that's an entirely different thing to HS30 and S30. There arent many S30's in the USA - only ones that were privately imported from Japan.

Because its a different chassis, and thats what Nissan do.

    cant say D!ck eh?
  5. Yeah and Silvia becomes Sil Beer !
  6. The lower mounting points changed, the side mounts on the chassis were "L" shaped bits of metal spot welded to the chassis. On the earlier 240z they are like an upside down "L" on the later version (whenever the change was) they changed them to point up. You can use the grill mounting brackets off the original grill buy drilling out the rivets and swapping them over to the later grill. I fixed one of my broken 240z grills with some parts from a 260Z and used the 240Z brackets on the 260z vertical bars.
  7. Even with the holes its still an ugly doodad.
  8. I've read that the Z33 was produced in 2002 and the G35 coupe not untill 2003.
  9. As far as I know the G35 skyline coupe (or whatever its called in the US) was released after the 350Z, so I don't know how you can say it was "born from" or "derived from" the G35. From what I understand the 350Z chassis wasn't based on any other chassis they had, but was a new design for the 350Z, which was then later restyled so that it could also be released as the G35 coupe. Correct me if I'm wrong.
  10. Really? Which Q45 coupe would that be? Got any photos?
  11. No, the 300ZX TT won, 2nd was the 350Z, 3rd was a very modified 260Z. The factory quoted HP numbers mean nothing, as they changed they way they were measured for the 280Z or 280ZX, so you can't compare them (do a search, theres lot of info about it on here) , also the US 260Z had a different power rating to the 260Z should in other countries. Also don't forget the other important factor - weight. Maybe someone should post the weights of each model Power to weight ratios for each model would be more telling, than just power ratings.

I got an '86 300ZXT recently, and needed to change the alternator. It's a damn hard thing to change, but I eventually got it done. I bought it with the alternator off the engine, but still in the bay, so I never heard it run before buying it, but it was cheap enough so I thought Id take a chance with it. Got it running, but it sounded like the lifters were very noisy, so I took them out to clean them up, like is says on one of the Z31 sites, but couldn't get them apart - too much gunk in them - so I order a new set from Courtesy Nissan. Its alot cheaper to have a new set flown down under from the USA, than it is to drive 10 minutes to my local Nissan dealer and buy them over the counter. How much cheaper? I saved about $700 by doing it that way!

I dont know, but am interested to find out. I've never seen anything like them before. Anybody know what year/model those wheels/hubcaps are from?
  14. Yeah they put the vacuum gauge into cars and called them economy meters, since the greater the vacuum, the more fuel you were using. My car has an Amp meter in the same spot. Does your oil pressure gauge work? Mine mostly stays on 0.

I would like to see the evidence. I would have though Nissan would have mentioned it in the letter about the 240z and the sports car protoype, but since they didn't I would think that his claims to designing that car were also inflated.
  16. Thought I'd start a thread for Old Skyline Videos. Heres one to start it off. If you've ever wondered what an S20 sounds like under full throttle, turn your speakers up KPGC10 GT-R http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dT3iQ36eAuc

Goertz is also incorrectly credited with the design of the Nissan Silvia. It's true he was a "Consultant" on that project too, though he didn't actually "design" that car either, even though some websites that should know better credit him at the cars designer. http://zhome.com/History/DesignEvolution/DesignEvolutionZ.htm http://zhome.com/History/Silvia.htm http://zhome.com/History/Truth/GoertzMyth.htm http://zhome.com/History/Truth/TheTrueStory.htm http://zhome.com/History/Truth/GoertzSpeech.htm http://zhome.com/History/history.html About time some of these pages were updated.
  19. Yeah looks like a vacuum gauge to me also. Love your nissan compe handle though! wanna swap it for a standard K steering wheel?

Sure I'd drink a Fosters. I'd probably have to go overseas to find one though. There's nothing wrong with Fosters, I've heard that export fosters is actually just Crown larger under a different brand name, but I have heard the local fosters, if you can find it, isn't that good. The point is Foster is an export Brand that's virtually unavailable in Australia. It's not like you can go down your local a ask for a Fosters. Only Touristy pub have it - for the tourists. To only place I saw fosters on tap was when I was in a Pub in England. Only if I had to have a beer with you, mate. As for Prawns/Shrimp The point I was making is the Aussies call them prawns, whether scientifically they are shrimp, is not the issue. zhead240 was referring to an American advert that was used to promote Australia featuring Paul Hogan, the target audience was America, which is why he had to say "Shrimp", because if he said "Prawn" most Americans would have no idea what he was on about. We also call rock lobsters "Crayfish", never say "Crikey", "strewth", (unless you're from the country and old) or "fair-dinkum" (unless your the Primeminister). But if you want to base your opinion of Australia on stereotypes, the go right ahead, but expect Australians to get a bit pissed off at you.

Some Aussie car movies are: "The Big Steal" - about a kid that buys a Jaguar of a dodgey car yard (traded in a Nissan Cedric for it). He gets ripped off, then gets revenge. "Metal Skin" think it was about street racing, kids with nothing to do, disaffected youth, blah blah, etc. I don't think it was any good. I remember a movie I saw once on TV, years ago, way back when I was in high school. I think it was called "Better off dead" and starred John Cusack. He was in high school and was fixing up a 60's Camaro, but it wasn't drivable so he had to get around in a wagon with wood paneling. I remember it because I was in high school too and fixing up my first 240z, and had a XY falcon wagon.
