Finally found a 69 240z, #51 Time to finish a 30 year multiple owner restoration.
It would be possible, but the “tow bracket holes” would bother me….Oct 69 car with obvious Oct 71 peices, but in all likelihood will have many other items/details not 100% dated correct….I maybe over thinking this……. Correct seatbelts, tail lights, seat covers can be easily “fixed” with correct over time…. That front crossmember isn’t as easily swapped out in the future. But that all being said…..I’d bet less then 5% of z guys in the “states” would know what purpose those two holes were used for from 10/71-10/72

I do have an aborted early 4/70 race car with really nice front cradle I may have to sacrifice… N-3200 should work well on the 71 Fairlady 240z…. Hoping it doesn’t really need..- Finally found a 69 240z, #51 Time to finish a 30 year multiple owner restoration.
Pulled out my spare parts that I thought were perfect to realize both nos parts are incorrect for this “70” car. Has clips for 432 air/box, and mounting holes for tow hook for the HH cars……. May have to sacrifice another front end of another early car …. Or maybe just swap I don’t think I can save the front drivers side next to headlight bucket…… Would these later peices cause deductions in a judged event?- Finally found a 69 240z, #51 Time to finish a 30 year multiple owner restoration.
Got a little work done today on Area 51 Trial fitting rear valance/slam panel from resurrected today, looks good, but just realized it is the later solid slam peice….. I do have a couple early spare panels I could replace with…… will be a special car, guess I should make it as “right” as possible. Removed front radiator support assembly back to the frame rails. Rails look darn good……couple dents I believe can be worked back straight. Thanks to Clay Beacham helping as always!!!- Finally found a 69 240z, #51 Time to finish a 30 year multiple owner restoration.
Dang, completely different placement….and zero space between middle of part number…- Finally found a 69 240z, #51 Time to finish a 30 year multiple owner restoration.
Need pictures of those stripes!’n- Finally found a 69 240z, #51 Time to finish a 30 year multiple owner restoration.
I’m betting 1/2/3? stripes for 3.36ratios hls30……3.9ratios hs30 …….. 4.44 432model? Cannot be determined in Alan’s picture if the double stripes are yellow or white?- Finally found a 69 240z, #51 Time to finish a 30 year multiple owner restoration.
Alan Any idea what is the significance of the “double stripe” mark? Fairlady? 432?- Finally found a 69 240z, #51 Time to finish a 30 year multiple owner restoration.
Have my curiosity up for the purpose double stripes versus single…….. going to have to crawl under my fairladies and check out their stripes!! Nn- Finally found a 69 240z, #51 Time to finish a 30 year multiple owner restoration.
Definitely e4101 on hls30-00051 as well. Careful scrapping of undercoating this time revealed the “brushed” yellow stripe and the “shadow of 01 just to the left. Thank you for the heads up 26th on the yellow stripe!- Finally found a 69 240z, #51 Time to finish a 30 year multiple owner restoration.
If Chris has 2…..26/27 assuming that both cars showed 4101….. that has to take precedence…- Finally found a 69 240z, #51 Time to finish a 30 year multiple owner restoration.
I will definitely be gently cleaning that “yellow stripe” area tomorrow …!!!! Thank you!!- Finally found a 69 240z, #51 Time to finish a 30 year multiple owner restoration.
That would work perfect!- Finally found a 69 240z, #51 Time to finish a 30 year multiple owner restoration.
I’ve had one other car that had seat mounting cracks similar to this. but yes I’d say a “big boy” must have driven this car in the 70s…- Finally found a 69 240z, #51 Time to finish a 30 year multiple owner restoration.
Removed quite a bit of undercoating on project 51. Looks pretty darn good body wise. Floor will need to be worked on, or replaced for certain. Overall still happy with structure. Front radiator cradle is the tough one. .I’m not sure I can “adjust,” all the dents and twists that have appeared. Upper cowl support looks like someone stood on the passenger side at one time. Spare tire well, although rusty inside, has no rust thru pinholes after blasting from both sides….- Finally found a 69 240z, #51 Time to finish a 30 year multiple owner restoration.

I remember questioning a restoration expert a couple years ago about their sloppy application of the yellow paint around the suspension nuts/bolts that are underneath the 240z they had completed. I can only imagine now that some cars were marked with a quite wide brush, as can be seen in pictures of the front diff crossmember of attached pictures interesting to me, will have to really “slap on the paint” if that detail is included later on for me.- Finally found a 69 240z, #51 Time to finish a 30 year multiple owner restoration.
Careful removal of undercoating and grease revealed a partial number on most mustache …. I’m thinking they were all the same with 240s… Too aggressive I was while “gently scrubbing” 1- Finally found a 69 240z, #51 Time to finish a 30 year multiple owner restoration.
Reinforcements/washers for the front cross member attachment to frame rail- Finally found a 69 240z, #51 Time to finish a 30 year multiple owner restoration.
Cart in front of the horse syndrome…. Put the refurbished alternator is proper painted stator housing waiting on a home…….- Finally found a 69 240z, #51 Time to finish a 30 year multiple owner restoration.
Yes. I had a quote for cleaning my back porch, and 360’ of railing around the edges, and saw my chance to argue for the unit , in the name of buyingbthe machine for half the cost of the quote….. still haven't finished in the backyard yet, but is is convenient for ‘occasional body panel, car etc……- Finally found a 69 240z, #51 Time to finish a 30 year multiple owner restoration.
Although I've only used the dustless blaster on a few cars, really haven't had that problem yet. the water is advertised to cut down on warpage due to heat.....I guess with aggressive media, metal could be moved around somewhat with a somewhat similar result.... - Finally found a 69 240z, #51 Time to finish a 30 year multiple owner restoration.
