240K GTR Flares
Looks good mate. It is a pity about those big Laurel or Cedric mirrors though! And the rear beaver panel is interesting too - off a sedan. I thought Tom experimented and found that they could not be interchanged? Love the Watanabes. They suit the car perfectly. Where did the car come from? Were they originally sold in Thailand or is this from Europe? Kent, changed your mind again huh? The colour codes we figured out and are in the other thread mate....... and this definitely looks a darker silver than the GT-R's came in. Not that that's a bad thing - this is a nice looking colour.

Needed: interior console part
Sorry, I should have mentioneded that info. The outer dimensions are 145x150 and the inner rectangle is 112x133. The inner part appears fine, just the outer that needs to be thinner to fit inside the console. I don't think your auto car will have one - mine didn't! But thanks all the same

240K GTR Flares
What a beautiful Skyline. It would be a pity to put flares on that one ... but I guess I can't talk! It might work out better if you get yours from Japan... Do you know Dome? His friend has a C110 with flares in Thailand who might be able to help. Something to look into anyway By the way, please feel free to show us more pictures of your car! It looks beautiful. Did you restore it? edit: Kent beat me to it

Needed: interior console part
So, Nissan decided to make the console in the later 240K's a little bit wider it appears. That's great, but now the little metal surround that holds the gear boot under the console from my later parts car will not fit my early console. Short of getting a new console, I'd like to find a metal frame from an early car. So does anyone have, or know of where I might get one? I've attached a picture of what the thing basically looks like. The early ones will look slightly different. If all else fails I can modify this to fit, but I'd rather just have the right part to start with.

1/18 diecast KPGC110 available now!
Yeah mate, I think this may be a new release from Kyosho as Yahoo Auctions Japan has been flooded with them lately.. not many white ones though I was going to ring around some hobby stores in Australia to see what they know first, because if we could get them here it would surely be cheaper. Right now I can't justify it though so haven't looked into it yet. Your friend who deals in model cars wouldn't happen to know would he? edit: Now that's interesting. None of the other ones I have seen are a "limited edition", except for the red ones. Everything else seems to be identical. Example silver: http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n34863190 and red: http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m25982930

Nice SR20DET 260Z on EBay
This is probably going off topic a bit but John, do you know if the Cosmo 13B is any different than the Gen 3 RX-7 13B?

Skyline Article in The Japan Times
Thanks Miles, yes it did work. For want of starting a bit of a discussion I would like to bring up a couple of things I'm not sure how true this is? If the GT-R's were so expensive, how did mere illegal street racers get their mitts on them? I'm sure we all know the mistake here. ROFL The author gets straight to the point! I thought it was released in 1989? Nice article though, thanks!

Nice SR20DET 260Z on EBay
It's aluminium, not chrome. It is a purpose-built race car that has a showcar finish to it. Fantastic!! I do agree with you zman I would prefer to make do with a couple of extra kg and keep a nice looking stock dash. But beggars can't be choosers

what grill is this from?
Very interesting. So that's the first mention of C111? Were there previous modeles mentioned, C110, that were "facelifted"? If so, that would prove that the difference between GC110 and GC111 was the E. So the "belt-buckle" only came on GC111? That's interesting too... I don't think going off topic is a bad thing, as the original question has been answered and this saves making a whole new topic

what grill is this from?
Hi Jim - I was always under the impression the 2000GT got the belt-buckle grille, and the 2000GT-X got the same grille as the 240K - whether they were C110's or C111's. I also thought that C111 simply meant the car was post-facelift, but after seeing that the difference between C210 and C211 was supposedly fuel injection, I wonder if maybe it's the same case with the C110/C111? That would explain why none of our Aussie C110's are C111's. But I thought one of the perks of the GTX-E was fuel injection over the other models... so perhaps not. What do you think? I'm just theorising here...

kiss of death
Ouch! Looks like it could have been a lot worse though considering the situation!! Lucky or skilled, probably both. Glad to see it's fixed now though

Look what I found. WAHOOO
What a great find! Of course you never got the clock out It's all fun. I was lucky enough to have the clarion radio pamphlet and original owner's manual come with my car. But in my parts car I found a nice black plastic case from a Victorian Datsun dealership - score! Smells a bit like cigarettes though.

Road trip sighting what is it
Good spotting Arne - it does look a bit different. However, there were a number of variants of the Disco Volante... I would hazzard a guess that this is just a slightly different one. Most of the pictures on the Internet are of two cars - a hard top and a spider which are both owned by the Alfa Romeo museum just outside of Milano. The reason I think this is more likely than say, an MG-based replica, is because of the obviously different details compared to the very "correct" bodywork. e.g. indicators. I'm going to do some research and hopefully get back to you on this one!! One thing is for certain, it would be very WEIRD for a genuine Disco Volante to be carried on the back of a trailer uncovered or anything... and without a polizia escort!!

what grill is this from?
Actually yeah, going through my pictures it looks like just the home-market 2000GT "belt-buckle" (as Jim christened it!) painted over and without the middle bits.
-
what grill is this from?
It looks like a modified/customised grille to me. I don't think it's C10 though. It looks almost like a 200B... Maybe it's from a SWB C110.

Fuel pump woes
Thankyou Miles and Art. I do have a 240Z fuel rail. I disconnected the fuel return line just above the fuel pump just then - it didn't spurt out any fuel or anything (I would imagine that's normal?). Fuel was there though. So if it is blocked, it would be further towards the tank, right? Might have to get someone to look at it if this is the case. I don't anything here that could blow high pressure air through.. I have considered an electric fuel pump - that info is fantastic and only sways me more towards converting. I will put it on my list of "things to do"!

Road trip sighting what is it
Holy crap! Looks like it has been covered in dust for a while... might get a new lease on life soon! I can't believe you saw this, just on a trailer being transported... not covered up or anything. That's just BONKERS! Very famous car. "Disco Volante" literally means "Flying Saucer" in Italian. No prizes for guessing why it's called that!
