Recent 240KGT Purchase, Help.
Is yours auto also? I have never put my foot to the floor until 110kmph so can't say! I wouldn't imagine it would though, as at 100kmph in 3rd I'm doing about 3000 rpm I think. Lachlan

He may have taken them off to put on some fender mirrors, like a real GT-R If he has any spare Skyline badges..............

I saw your pics! Looks like you have quite a few "Skyline" bits on it... the rear spoiler and "Skyline" badges as well as all the stuff you mentioned... One thing about your WOF, I'm not sure if they'll like the lack of a mirror BTW, Invercargill is a beautiful place

New carbs, wont start
Well, she's running!!!!!! Once she gets up and going (past 2000) everything seems sweet, just if you let it go down to idle it'll konk out... like running on 3 perhaps But, it's now idling at 1000 and seems to be driveable. I'm going to take it to a place to get them properly tuned and if there is anything else that is causing the roughness then they can sort that out too. This is where my dad and my mechanical expertise ends! The sound brings back memories of the Zed... :tapemouth Here's a pic for interest. Not very clean I know, but I'm not complaining, she kept the rest of the car perfect :classic: Pity she didn't buy a Zed instead hehehe

New carbs, wont start
Hi! Just installed some dual SU's from a 240Z in my K-car and lo and behold they don't just work like a good obedient set of carbs! Life is never easy!!! It cranks over, and gets some spark, but nothing else... not even a hint of wanting to start. Tried some "Start ya bastard" but to no avail... Any thoughts? :disappoin

Recent 240KGT Purchase, Help.
Me? There is also JMT240KGTR here on the board. What to look for I guess would be all the pretty standard stuff, and the rust areas are strangely (not) similar to the Z... - in the bottom of the doors - In the bottom of the front fenders just in front of the doors - In the dogleg panel at the bottom after the doors - Under the battery - Under the spare tyre - In the roof around the edges - In the floors Just check everywhere, basically! Hope to see you here more (in numbers we can be proud!) and I'd love to see some pics if the sale goes through?

Hose from top of head

Hose from top of head
Hi Currently swapping my single carb for some dual SU's from a 240Z, and have a question... I have the non-stock air filter, so how should I connect the hose thing coming off the top of the head? Most other hoses and stuff line up pretty perfectly (with the exception of some weird things at the back and the throttle/choke). Here are some pictures I found for reference.. see what I mean? http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=3508&password=&sort=7&thecat=998 http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=5777&password=&sort=7&thecat=998 The little air filter thingy on hte second one looks mighty fine, but I'd rather not have to go and buy stuff to fit on... Thanks!

fender mt mirror question
On my Zed there seemed to be a spot under the fender marked already for the mirrors... or maybe my car did have mirrors but they were covered up at some stage??? DAMN I would have loved those mirrors !!

WTB: 240Z carbs
Mate!! You really need to get that car OUT of the panel shop ASAP... if you put an ad on Ozdat you might get some people offering, it's hard to know the condition of them I guess it's a bit of a gamble... I got mine for $130 incl postage, I think this is about how much they're worth...................?

That means you're going too slow, probably the lawn mower engine's fault rather than anything else!!! That's what I don't like about rent-a-cart's, they're always different!!!

maybe its just me but....
I think you do know the reason. The car is not only newer, but was sold new for a lot more, thus it was always "worth" more. Just because it doesn't look as nice doesn't mean it shouldn't be worth as much... or else Rolls-Royces would be as common as Commodores. Alan, I see that yes that is when the Z was introduced so it should be compared with the 911 of the same year, but this was when the Porsche was at the end of its life-cycle (as I'm sure you know). For others, Porsche improved their car majorly in the early 1970s - the 1974 911 is a LOT different to the 1969 911. I just think it's a bit of a wobbly comparison seeing as the two cars weren't both in the market for very long... but yes it is a fairer comparison than to a 1982 911SC Targa!!! As for 911's getting worse looking in the 70s and 80s... have a look at the Z cars.......................... Oh and to be fair, the Targa 911 isn't exactly the best looking one, and nor is that colour...... like Alan said it's not just about static looks. (picking fights) Lachlan
