  1. Good luck with your quote/... i live on the gold coast. A good 2 or 3 hour drive up there but the fact that I can relate to you (student, no money) and you being ripped -off means I dont mind the drive.
  2. Well, first you have to find a set Other than that I think the actual metal they screw into is different (larger hole in the 260Z) so it might be an idea to change that somehow too. You also need a whole new rear panel (the grey thing), plus the numberplate light is different. Old parts like these you might find in a junk yard for $100 if you're lucky, otherwise it will cost big bucks. I'm just going on some assumptions and guesses here, I'm sure other (more knowledgable) people can help further.
  3. nice Z ...nice porsche!

well done ! :classic: that's one more ignorant fool brought to their senses about these cars

A little off-track here, talking about the 2+2. Personally I think they're a great looking car if you totally discount the 2 seater. How people could call them ugly (being somewhat hypocritical here as I have been known to call them bad words myself!) is beyond me, as the exterior is 80% the same as the 2 seater. Basically the 2+2 is a fantastic looking car, but often gets called ugly simply because the 2 seater is absolutely bloody beautiful. That little difference in the length/quarter window/roof kink does so much to the car's appearance...

Wow, a Ferrari owner who isn't pretentious? You British are strange......... ROFL Welcome Paul, you've come to the right place! Your car looks fantastic, can't say I like wire wheels on a Z but those mirrors look pretty good. What are they from? Upload some more pics to your gallery if you like!
  7. Love that colour mate... as for you rick............. nah I've got nothing
  8. Sounds like a possibility. Although after 20 odd years of the car being impounded dont you think it might be a little MORE rusted? There are lots of red rusted Z's around, being honest and sensible chances are this is a different car. But YES it is still worth looking into I think, but beforeyou do, was your car a 240 or 260? I had a feeling it wasa 260?

Like the 350Z, the convertible is now being pre-sold at large premiums OVER sticker price. Here's an example! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2409570324&category=31864 Insane isnt it... being seen FIRST really means a lot to some people huh? :stupid: :stupid: :stupid:
  13. Another PerformanceForums guy if I'm not mistaken! Welcome to the club, you might want to post your wanted ad at www.ozdat.com too if you haven't already btw...

If it's too bassy for you NOW why are you looking at subwoofers and huge enclosures right behind your head? You might be just better off getting 6x9s like me and perhaps some tweeters up front (can mount them behind the air vents IIRC) and you'll be set up. What kind of speakers/stereo/amp(?) are you running now? Too bassy? Eeesh youre getting old LOL

Ah, I've seen that done - had 2 15" subs there, riiight behind the occupants. Would be crazy, huh? I dont exactly remember how it was set up (I was more interested in the rust and mechanics of the car as I was looking to buy it) but it was very nicely done indeed. Used the rear strut housing things as tie-down points, and could be removed easily. I would recommend it as not only will there be less chance of distortion (not as far for the sound to go) but it wont decrease your boot space much. And I guess it would act as a strut brace too to a certain extent.. But my 6x9s are just fine the way they are

  20. dude good on you for taking it so well (or appearing to be!). I know I'd be crapping my pants if I had just spent heaps on a beautiful looking Z only to discover the rails are shot. If you are going to be doing any work yourself in 3 weeks time I can come up and help you - not that I have any more experience than you but 2 sets of hands are always better than 1 huh? I feel for you man... 3 weeks is when my final exams and my final 4 assignmetns have all been finished. Before that I'm just way too backed up with work. :( Let us know about your quotes...

You could even go so far as to buy one in a packet, $50 for a full electric one and install it yourself. They're not hard, AND they come with instructions ......

The hand throttle was probably removed by the P.O.... they're not the safest of levers! They mechanically pull the accelerator pedal down, and will not let go of it unless you push the lever back. I'm sure you could imagine why this wouldn't be very safe in certain situations!!!

sjcurtis I dont think all that crud could have come from dodgy fuel stations!! I think a rusted tank is a far more probable cause... I wonder if he'll drive differently with clean lines?!

I was laughing because the orange is so glossy, every filter I've seen to date has been faded and matte! I wasn't commenting about the floorpans because I expected rust, I wanted to see them to see what they're MEANT to look like! hehe
