  1. opps, here are the pictures,......... I still notice heat at the fuse box 20A Stop when the hazards are on. No heat at the hazard flasher unit. Maybe corrosion in the hazard switch?
  2. Thanks so much for the information. I would be interested in one of your spares if you have it available. Maybe I have something you need or PayPal? Glad to know you can just pull it out without removing tach........ Those pictures of the flasher units are great. Matches my hazard flasher, but my turn signal is a generic one the previous owner put in. Let me see if I can pictures......
  3. cool stuff, was thinking of adding a blue tooth device to my sony stereo. Might check into that. I love the switch, I have driving lights on the front, and the switch is by the rear defrost switch, since the bezel has the light indicator there. Was thinking of an indicator light to go in above the hazard switch..........
  4. thanks for the feedback, Any suggestions in getting to the back of the switch and removing it? It seems like taking the tach out would get you close? Anyone have a good short tail hazard switch around?
  5. Just curious what you have on your dash above the hazard switch? Was thinking of an indicator light for driving lights, but was curious what others have done? Did you leave it just stock blank or add something? Pictures would be nice,,,,, any advice is helpful Thanks
  6. Well, a quick update...... Got the wiring checked out and used a decent meter to find that the wire to the hazard flasher was intact to the fuse box. Retested and found 12V on the Blue/white wire at the flasher unit. I have another hazard switch so was going to try that.......AS I was pulling and messing with the wires on the back of the hazard switch, I tried the hazards again, and it all worked....... hate that. Must be a bad connection or wire issue so I am assuming the switch is bad. But the switch I have has longer pigtails and different emblem on the toggle switch than the one in the car, so either need to rebuild the existing switch or get another one........ I guess I will replace my accessory relay too, since mine looks bad. Might as well replace the flasher unit for the hazards. I did see that there is different part numbers for the turn signal flasher and the hazard flasher...... Need to figure that one out. Getting closer to the answers, thanks for all that have responded
  7. Cool, super helpful. I found it sitting right where you show it.......... Switched the hazard and turn signal flasher, and the turn signal still work. No hazards....... I got out the factory wiring, and it shows the blue / white wire should be 12V from the fuse box. I just used my meter and I don't have 12V at the wire at the flasher. Actually no 12v on either wire.....Will go check the fuse box again,,,,,,,, I did noticed that when I have the hazard switch turned on the turn signals don't work. As soon as I turn the hazards off, the turn signals work fine. That looks to be correct with the wiring diagram and give me "some" assurance that the hazard switch is working correctly......
  8. I thought the series one cars do not use a relay on the rear glass since there is no lighted switch....... I know the first 240z had no defroster.... Mine does have the lines on it with a black switch on the console....
  9. nice, thanks for the quick numbers to look up. I think this relay is the issue with too much current being pulled when the flashers were on....... Are the relay the same for series one cars and other 240z?
  10. Thanks for the notes, I will check the passenger side relay panel again. I didn't see anything that is like the flasher unit for the turn signals. But will take another look. There was a small rectangular unit that looked like it was "ticking" when I put the hazards on, but maybe I missed something. Will try to get a picture I will check out changing the tail lights out to LED, maybe that will drop the current. I might put an amp meter inline with the fuse to see if I can get a reading Didn't know they made red LED tail light replacement for the z car type bulbs..... will check into that. I am going to run a wire to the horn to make sure I am getting 12v there when I hit the horn. Thanks for the help
  11. I did check the fuse box, no melting, so happy about that...... Went through a bunch of stuff, noticed that the wires around the blinker flasher looked melted, so I replaced the flasher unit with old spare, and that issue is solved. Got the tail lights working, with the fuse replacement on the harness for the "parking light upgrade harness". Brake lights are now working too............so need to work on the horn, which clicks when I hit the button, I also want to figure out the hazard lights flasher unit. Not sure where that is, but I hear something on the passenger side....... Is that unit the same as the blinker flasher unit? Do not like the heat on the fuse box, but it's not like I use the emergency flashers.......... Progress,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
  12. The car is Jan '71 240z I did check the heater fan, that works. I changed all the fuses, checked for power, all good at the fuse box. Did notice the "Stop" fuse get hot when the flasher was on.... Need to check the fuses on the Parking light upgrade harness, since the parking lights don't work..... Seem to remember awhile back an issue with one of the side marker lamps many years ago..... Might pull all of them. Any other suggestions is appreciated.....
  13. So, went for a drive today, and noticed that my blinkers were not working, so I turned on the flashers, no joy. Got home and tested a few things, here is the results: No horn, parking lights, brake lights, flashers or blinkers ( is there another Fuse Link somewhere?) Headlights, gauges, dome lights, radio, wipers all work,..... forgot to test the fan ;-( Quickly swapped fuses on the tail light circuit with no luck. Before I dive in, looking for suggestions on where to dive into...... I was thinking flasher unit or emergency light switch, but I think that should not impact the horn or brake lights..... All was good before, so any suggestions or advice is appreciated.......
