Still struggling with car at idle after 8 years
I got my electromechanic to check the wiring and it seemed connected all the way around. This is how it ended and hopefully there is no noise inside the dashboard when driving below 1500 rpms. Anyway im waiting for amazon to send me a new 1.5 pertronix coil and 1.5 ohms ballast resistor so we can eliminate lack of electricity from coil to cyl 4.

240z Pertronix Ignition Not Sparking
Still trying to figure out the correct wiring to get a consistent spark. Dont know why the ac shop threw a wire from the coil to the ac blower?

More cleare pics of the connections from dizzy to petronix 1.5 ohm coil. Original resistor is measuting 2.1 ohm though. I removed the coil sparkplug wire for clearer view and your input!

Gundee, Do you need more pictures of my coil so we can wire the petronix correctly? Need to get this ac blower noise issue solved asap!

Still struggling with car at idle after 8 years
The one circled was fastened there by the guys who installed the Ac in my car. I had to unplug this wire as it waa causing a horrible noise that came from the blowe of the ac inside the car. Ballast resistor measured 2.1 ohms. Which wires you want me to remove from the coil?

Still struggling with car at idle after 8 years
Im using a 1761 petronix module no points directly to the distributor and a 1.5 ohm petronix coil. Instructions were never clear.

Still struggling with car at idle after 8 years
Hi Gundee, Today i noticed a strange noise coming from the car at low rpms meaning lower than 2000 rpm. Like a vibration noise. It seems the black wire that is connected to the coil and goes to the air conditioner evapotator causes this. Coil is measuring 1.6 ohms and resistor measures 2.1 ohms although it gets hot as hell during traffic jams. Really dont want to spend money with an ac shop to fix this. Maybe there is a way around this.

Pertronix Ignitor 1761 install and coil evaluation
Just checked the resistance of a ballast resistor i bought 3 years ago stored in my house. I bought this ceramic resistor from amazon. Guess they send me a wrong one and this value wont work with my 1.5 ohm petronix flamethrower coil. Isnt it supposed to measure 1.5 - 1.6 ohms?

Pertronix Ignitor 1761 install and coil evaluation
How hot should the petronix 1.5 coil get during idle? Mine is so hot you cannot leave your hand for more than 2 seconds. Is this normal?

SU Carb Choke Cable Adjustment
Bottomline after getting stuck in traffic for 15 minutes Temp needle raised to 3/4 on the gauge as shown in the pictures. Mechanic noticed the car started hesitating when getting away from traffic which is not normal. Anyway, he also noticed the coil was very hot and considered the following: 1. Get a new coil. This one is a petronix 1.5 ohms tied to a ballast resistor and petronix module. He said get a Bosch. Shouldnt i order a new petronix 1.5 ohm resistor? Does it matter? 2. Remove the radiator, inspect and flush 3. Get a fan clutch with more blades If this does not solve the problem then open the head cylinder and take it to the resurface shop who will charge usd400 for the job. Do you guys concur?

SU Carb Choke Cable Adjustment
Ive got 2 mechanics. One will charge 150usd and do it in my parking. The other wants usd 360 in his shop. Are there any special considerations when removing the head? Torque measurement?

SU Carb Choke Cable Adjustment
Mark, Tomorrow we will test the car under heavy traffic to see if it starts fouling cylinder 4. I contacted a resurfacing machine shop and they want to charge usd65 just for inspection and 700usd top if the engine needs resurface and installing valve, guides and seals. They say the head needs to be fully inspected before quoting any fees.

SU Carb Choke Cable Adjustment
Decided to move to Spain and take the datsun with me! Hope i find a good friend or mechanic to help me with the california datsun engine. Anyway i just received new seals, stainless steel valves, guides ans gaskets. Anyone here wants me to carry out a last test before removing the head? Choke issue was solved with a vise grip straightening the cable where it fastens to the front carb.
