  1. Well if you are looking for more radical kits try www.ztrix.com. They have a GTO style convertible as well as racing fenders that are quite wide. Take a look at the Subtle Z kit. It preserves much of the Z's lines but allows wider wheels.
  2. Those are the Formula Atlantic bias ply 11.5 Hoosiers rears all the way around on 10 inch wheels that the Fresno guys are using.
  3. Man I just love toecutter's car. I didn't know that MSA doesn't sell flares anymore, I guess I should make a mold of what I have. Here is a company that bought Arizona Z cars' molds. http://www.zfiberglass.com/id10.html They have a set similar to the MSA street flares and are closer to what the old CP cars had. Their shape is like what member Tom Holt has on his auto-x car. Another possible source is what Steve in Fresno uses on his car. This is old information but maybe still good. "Ian and I are running MAS Racing Products flares. They're in St. Paul MN 651-644-6811. They are fiberglass - very thin - we're using rear flares in both the front and back. The front flares they sell will not work with a 10 inch rim."

I'm working on content and history still and have contacted a few folks from back in the day. I am trying to get information from the source rather than relying on what is already out there. I am going to link to the 2 companies I know of that are starting up production on flares and g-noses once I see they are actually making them. I just recieved an e-mail from the buyer of the Arizona Z molds. He thinks he will have the rounded IMSA flares and g-nose in production soon, like in two weeks. I really like your idea of a side by side comparison and description of the different flare shapes and what will fit under them. Maybe the stub axles didn't hold up, so there could be some good or sad stories to be told. I will have a for sale section for parts and cars relating to the IMSA era. I might have a vintage racer soon on there for sale. Check back!

Thanks Larry, Dan Juday sent me his contact info. I met Bob Lapp at one of the Hybrid meets and bought a set of IMSA front fenders from him. Hi Dennis, I am trying to find my negatives from the 1975 Laguna Seca race but no luck yet. I had a great shot of the batmobile BMW lighting up its 14 inch slicks from behind down the straight. I will look more this weekend. If you have any GTU Z pictures I am trying to consolidate as much as I can on one site. I would of course credit you and link to your site. Gav240Z, love your car. I attended a couple of these races in the 70's as a teenager and have been frustrated trying to find information and pictures of these cars and drivers so that is why the website.

I didnt see any contact info on Dennis' website. Would you have any?

Thanks, Ron. I have a few e-mails out to racers to see if I can get any racing stories in print. It seemed like Don Devendorf might not be responsive from what you said a while back on westcoastZ, but I will try. I will PM Dan Juday and see if he can get contact info from Bob Lapp's son in Rio Vista.
  8. I just cranked the volume here at work! NIIIIIICE! That is just with S.U.'s right? I don't think triple sidedrafts are allowed in EP.

I have started a fan website of the 70's and 80's racing series. If anyone has contacts, photos, stories or info please PM me and I will place them on the website. http://zlalomz.googlepages.com/imsagtuz

  11. I have one too; removed from this car, http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=2894&cat=500&perpage=12&sort=3&ppuser=1154 You are welcome to take it and test fit it to your car but just as a loaner since it isn't for sale.

Thanks Rick for the website link. I love your car. The fuel cell cage, pump, filter and location look earily familiar. I am very jealous of your Arizona Z car suspension! We lost all of our airport sites in Sacramento, Tom after 9/11 and the closest events are 1 1/2 hours for me once I get up and running. A benefit event is held annually at one of our lost sites 15 minutes from my house in two weeks, so I am thrashing to get the car back to its old spec self for that event. It has been 3 years so I can't wait.

Thanks Tom, Cary and everyone. Without a Sunbelt engine John, I don't think I will be as fast backwards as forwards. Here is an old shot of me over shooting a corner at the Oakland Colesium. You can't see it in this smaller pic but I am pushing a cone along too. Since I take the cones with me I won't need a rear window. Now if I could just remember that formula for transparent aluminum Scottie came up with in one of the Star Trek movies the problem would be solved. How is your season going Tom, any new tweaks to the car this year?

I posted this over on HybridZ but they are too fun to watch not to put it here too. There is his BSP 240z championship run in-car video and his recent BMW in-car video is incredible. Almost as much fun as Tom Holt's video, right Tom? Pump up the volume. http://www.siastuning.com/Video's.htm

Hi Tom, I was going to ask the bulkhead question over on SCCA Forums when I got closer to finishing it. The bulkhead to the ceiling is just an effort to make the rear hatch area less of an open parachute as I understand it. If I did the traditional aluminum fuel cell cover and box covering the spare tire area, do you think it would be legal to put a lexan window shelf to roof? I am guessing no since it isn't listed as O.K. but then I could see all the angry course workers picking up cones behind me.

It looks like it might be legal as either the metal bulkhead required to separate the fuel cell from the driver/passenger compartment or if the rear inner fender wells are removed a metal bulkhead separating compartments is required. A floor to ceiling one might raise some eyebrows but I haven't found any rules against it yet. Does anyone else know?

I will, that is one SCCA rule that makes sense but for now I am enjoying all the manuvering room back there. Did I see a picture of your car at an event with Tom Holt's car? It could have been from last year.

I am not calling you the fun police. I brought up "in-excess" because you have made it work so well. I am just sizing up class participation and haven't decided FP or XP yet. I don't want to be the lonely guy like in years past. The plan is to get the car running for this season and then slowly work towards the rule limits.
