My 71' 240z project ... =)
I wanted to learn how to work with lead soldering. Mainly using it now to smooth out some bumps that can't be hammered or by pushing from behind by using different instruments. Near the drip rail on the roof for instance. It's also to perfect the area around the welds and seal them up good. I'm no expert, so this is pretty rough around the edges, and fiberglass bondo will be used after the car is either painted with epoxy primer or POR15. Currently looks like the epoxy is the winning choice since it's what the sand blasing company uses. The car is going back for a light blasing of the welds, etc. I'll use POR on the floors and other places where extra rust protection is needed. When the car is primed/rust protected - caulk will be added to all the seams. Inside and out. I got some goodies from a company called Auto- experten that will be used for this:

Thanks alot Ed! Hopefully there's a new video coming soon since I'm getting some tutoring on soldering later on today. Looking forward to it. Gonna have some bumps hammered out as well (I hope). I actually already have the larger version of the picture you attached. Great big thanks anyway. It's good to know us Z-nuts help eachother out, cheers! =) Now, some "progress": Yesterday I visited a friend, who had a friend (who's good with electronics) over and they had a look at my taillights. If I tell you that I've ordered 15 red bright LED's for testing - I think you can put two and two together I'll hopefully have custom made curcuitboards for this piece of the puzzle. Right now I'm just waiting for the LED's in order to do some testing...

Well, it hasn't passed the initial check up ... I skipped it since the car was pretty much ... FUBAR. So, I thought we should fix the rust first, before proceding with the check up. After the check up/initial registration, I'm pretty free to do whatever I want. Discbrakes for instance. 10+ point rollcage. Fuel cell. Engine/tranny swap. There's pretty much no emission regulations on cars older than -76, cars over 30 years old are also declared exempt from tax. Yay! Speaking of brakes, I was thinking of something along the lines of this: ...Or I might settle for something less heavy : ) Like this:

Haha, yeah - I'm kind of single anyway, seeing someone :classic: Your friends seem to have a couple of nice projects going! I do consider getting a EMS from AEM (which have launch control as well as traction). The stock gearbox mounts are on since I have to get the car through inspection with the stock engine/gearbox first, before putting the RB in. Haha, cute story! I just hope that when I marry I find a girl of equal values : ) Thanks! Good to hear she "LOVES" the videos! :classic: Thanks man :rambo: When you're feeling envious, just remind yourself of how many cheap 240z you have all over your country. We have a total of about 50 in Sweden. Most of which are fairly stock. I know of two that have V8's though. I am happy for making the videos since they give me inspiration. And seeing where the car's come from - to where it's at today - is very refreshing to say the least :stupid: :classic:

I guess my mom must've dropped me one time too many or something... ; ) Or it might have something to do with the fact that we get all four seasons here. Winter usually gets people working on their gems... =) No worries on asking about my job, Alfadog. I work for a publishing house named FABAS, mainly for a magazine called "Bilsport" - main occupation during the summer is to film the events that they host - which last year added up to 9 events. After the season's done with - I edit it into a DVD, which they sell. Since the release I've been writing a couple of articles, and taking pics, for "Bilsport", the kids version: "Bilsport Junior" and another magazine called "Fyndbörsen" (Fynd = bargain/find + börs = [stock] exchange). The publishing house sports close to 20 car/truck/4x4/etc magazines. I basicly bum around - take a few pics here and there. Shoot some video and write a little text every now and then. This weekend me and some photographers and a testdriver are going out testing a couple of cars on some frozen lake It's a dirty job, but hey! Someone's gotta do it Edit: Here I am, at the quarter mile, working my a$$ off : )

Screen cap from upcoming video, some paint and clear coat being added to the dash in order to make the mold for the carbon fiber dash. Dash will most likely be messed up when removing the mold (since the vinyl isn't attached that good in some places, etc) so don't get too angry or attached to the color of choice

Starting out using the stock head. Injection - no carbs. Building a fast street/race-car is never cheap - but since I've managed to squeeze some sponsors into the build - makes it somewhat less expensive. Bottom line: they're getting paid. But hey, money was made for spending

Thanks for the pictures, impressive! Looks very pretty! Stock measurements were taken from the original rails before they got chopped up - I would like to think they're accurate enough (?) :classic: Oh... By the way, I think I've neglected to post this screen shot from a "video in progress" showing the new engine block. It's a Nismo N1-RB26 block. Recieving a 0.4 mm bore/ 0.1 mm honing in the video. Waiting for some more video-material to wrap it one up and post it.

I put down just about every penny I make on this project. Hope your friend enjoys the movies! Believe me - I can't wait to see it when it's completed either :classic: Don't "all" females think that of us who love our four wheel friends? ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Speaking of which - I got a little something for my sweetheart today. All the way from the US. Order was shipped this monday - and arrived a couple of hours after lunch today, wednesday. That's fast... Thanks FedEx and PBZ YEY! Size-reference? The cell is 12 gallons
