  1. So what did you do. ? Just rotate dizzy? Move the plug order? Move oil pump? I need the simple way butbigthink oil pump is fine. My main question is if my distributor is slightly out of alignment or I can just loosen the screw and rotate the distributor a slight bed. Would that make it difference to if the car will start or not is possible to not start even though I’m getting spark.???
  2. Do you think by loosening the lockdown screw on the distributor and rotating it slightly and trying to start the car again it may start it would heavenly distributor slightly off from number one not allowed to the car to start even though it has spark????
  3. Ok 240 I flipped the mounting bracket over on the dizzy. We put it back on the car then we took the valve cover off got the camshaft position up with the piston at the top so we were in top dead centre then finally the distributor rotor was pointing at 8:30, which is exactly where the mark was on the top of the distributor cap so it was properly done and then put the spark plugs in the proper order and had spark and all cylinders. My only question now is if the timing was too advanced to retarded with the car, not start because we did nothing to do with timing. The distributor could still rotate with the one lockdown screw on the distributor which we did not rotate at all.
  4. Brand new plugs. It was spray starter. Liquid fire. No nothing. How could it be flooded? I drained float bowl. What else can I try?
  5. Have spark in all 6 cylinders. New coil new points. Just put su round top carbs in carbs were fully cleaned. Even tried starting spray. Nothing ignites. What so ever. Fuel is flowing into carbs. What could it be? 1.5 ohm coil. New plugs. Any ideas? Plug order was checked. No back fires no miss fires no nothing. Help!!
  6. Ohh zed. This is a 73 I was told the only year the distributor may sit I. A funny direction. True or not??
  7. How many times have you seen this?? Normal or something dropped on it ???
  8. Pointing up. Why??
  9. Found a cap bolt for threaded one. Now just need to cap 4 lines. Will do that. Then it’s back to firing order and the dizzy. Think I can get this to run? Wondering why the distributors vacuum advance keeps pointing to the right side of the car and not to the left side of the car like most of them do that I see I’m going to once again take the mounting bracket off the distributor. Flip it around put it back on and then then put the distributor back on the car and the vacuum advance will point towards the left side of the car, which is where it should point, I will top dead centre put the spark plugs in accordingly
  10. Hey zed. I’m going to try and instal the distributor again . I’m still wondering why the vacuum return keeps pointing up to the hose?? All others I see point down should I just flip the mounting bracket and then it would point down then I can just find top dead centre and put my plugs on, but that make more sense. I don’t know why it was flipped around and pointing up in the first place there’s no room for the vacuum advance hose to connect the plug is jammed under the hose.
  11. How do I plug the hole??
  12. Got the round tops all cleaned up and now on. Was not that hard. Now to just block water lines. Any feed back?
  13. How hard is it to see the cam lobes up like rabbit ears when looking in oil cap ? So I am standing on the side of the car looking across the car from fender to fender looking in the hole? And I should be able to see two lobes up??
  14. Any ideas on compression fitting caps ? I will call auto store to see if I can get them
  15. Ohhhh. I got ya!! That being the case I will get some compression fittings. Any way you know the size off the fittings I would need ?? And how many?? That would be super helpful. 🙏🙏
  16. Thanks zed but your diagram shows more of the engine then the carbs. Any diagram of the carb like that ?? And how do most block or cap the lines? Put a bolt in the hose and a hose clamp ??I’ve seen some little plastic or rubber nipple caps guys use on the carb side. Any info there??
  17. Since this car will never be driven in cold weather, I’m assuming we can block all the waterlines going through the carb? Can someone please point out me on the photo which lines can be blocked in? Which ones have to be reconnected? That would be great thanks.
  18. Lots of work - yes. To drive it. ??? He’ll ya. $^!# load of work to drive it. Clutch and brakes would need to be done. Don’t know if I will keep it or sell it. Floors rails rockers need to be done. May sell it. I just thought it would be worth more with a running engine and the round carbs. Let’s see. ???
  19. Yes. We have another manifold attached to the round top carbs. We will just put the whole new manifold on. The last carbs were dine and most people say to go with the round tops. The main questions are which lines can be eliminated. ?? Can someone point that out in a photo?? Why tons of work. ? The new manifold bolts right on then it’s just the hoses.
  20. We have now removed the flat top carbs. We literally would not have been able to get them out unless we ground off several bars and pipes. They are now pit as seen in photo. We just need to know what we have to plug now and what has to go back. We are putting in the standard su round top carbs.
  21. Yo man. Those are the round tops. Go look at where the nuts are located on the flat tops. Way behind them.
  22. I may. If I just do the carbs how do you take the flat top carbs off the manifold there are four bolts that hold them on but you cannot access them easily is this normal or should I be able to access them easily?
  23. Better yet I want to take these flat top carbs off either to clean or to replace with round top. How in the world do you unbolt these bolts from the manifold the top ones are very easy. A couple of the bottom ones are easy but there are some bottom ones that are unreachable absolutely impossible to get here is there’s something I’m missing here. How do you get those bottom bolts undone on the bottom of these flat top carburetters can anyone tell me who has done this or knows how to do this?
  24. I have googled this for a long time. No schematics on it. No photos or diagrams of where drain screw is. Anyone know or have a photo?? thanks for advice
  25. Can someone tell me if these flat tops have an easy to access bone desolate screw? I just want to drain the bowl.
