As Mike said: Welcome! You are just too lucky with a first Z and that low level of rust! Congratulations! Will
  2. You are most welcome-I publicly apologize for the HUGE delay and have cleared up the issues contributing to it. On the strips-I'll put a bug in his ear and he will Pm you...he is working on making this a formal service and I don't want to steal his thunder...He does an outstanding job for a very reasonable price-shipping is just high! Will
  3. I'll see about digging them out next week(getting ready for Amelia Island Concours) and snapping and posting a few pics. Will
  4. Carl, I have been trying to say that since kats posted-thinking about all day-thanks for putting better than I could come up with-and faster! Ron I like the way you think! There isn't much time left to do something, or something will never be able to be done. Will
  5. Bryan, I have a set of NOS hatch Hinge Seals that I verified fit and have made molds from-so I am on hold until i find a suitable material that will not have the same issues as the original material. The Heater control panel I considered casting in Aluminum and polishing/annodizing to make it a permanent piece-too technologoically advanced for my home shop, but I will find a company... The Door panel chrome strips are restorable-at least one member here offers that service. I had not considered the bumpers for the door release lever because the escutcheon panels (the part that holds the bumpers) were only $10 Each from Nissan last time i checked, and the bumpers come installed. Will
  6. I'll add two bits of advice based entirely on personal experience. 1) Run the appropriate tap through every hole to clean up the threads before applying the anti-seize and new stainless hardware. 2) If you buy the sets together, they offer a discount on the entire purchase. Will
  7. Those fit, are Stainless, and are labeled as to where they go(a huge help) but are not the original OEM style in terms of looking stock. I have the entire set for my '72 and they look very good, but are more than obviously aftermarket parts. Will
  8. Carl, Maybe you ment to put "or in the stock class," instead of the "and" meaning: Yes - non-Stock Carb.'s on a 73 would put you in the Modified Class many places, or in the stock class, many points would be deducted - carb.'s wrong, air cleaner wrong, intake manifold wrong.... plus all the points for wrong parts associated with the emissions equipment... Just a thought, as most of the modified classes don't deduct unless you have too many, or the wrong type(for the class) of modification. Will
  9. You must have missed earlier parts of this thread-they are in there! Will
  10. Dan, Sorry, I had on a headset talking to Dave(not Z affiliated), and referenced him as Dan. Talk about confusion on my part, and apologies all the way round... If I can find the right material to cast the parts from, it is a done deal. Will
  11. Dave, those were a couple of the parts that started all of this madness. I hate going through all of the detail of a full repaint just to have to paint a spacer to make it look in better condition than it really is. I am still working on finding a seriously uv stable casting resin, I have around 26 parts molds ready to go, but not the right material to make the parts with... Will
  12. Welcome, and post some pics when you get the chance! Will
  13. Your local nissan dealer. I have asked every hardware company I have found, and a few have a few odds and ends, but none and no combination of those that do carry odds and ends have even close to half coverage of the needed pieces. I keep asking though! Will
  14. Don't forget boltdepot.com Will
  15. You are asking for a palmreader guess. The standard economic answer stands: "It depends." A 7/10 to you might be a 4/10 or a 9/10 for those of us with several decades of and more than 10 Zs experience under our belts. The only way to answer your question is a useless answer, somewhere between $500 and $30,000. There are several Fairlady mechanical parts that you would have a terrible time replacing here in the states, the steering rack for one, and there are a few more before you get to the trim...there are just too many variables to give you a valid off the cuff estimate because of the rarity of the car and more importantly, certian parts. Simply the investment in time and money to source those parts would affect the price of the car becuase they could well dictate the restoration/modification path it would have to follow relative to the cost of the project. It is terrific that you have the enthusiasm to ask about such a project, but it is much like asking how much rust is there in any given Z. You won't know until you investigate further. Will
  16. Rick, Watch out for E, you know E's ALWAYS at the tail end of troublE! If you fossick the threads it's london to a brick you find good oil from that little ripper! Are you home for a couple/three weeks? Will PS, any photos of the journey(even without Zs. I'd love to see them...)
  17. Rick, This goes back to my lion post from several years ago, but in my eyes you are 10 feet tall and bullet proof! As for Barb being with you...someone had to hold the camera! On the shiela, SOMEHOW I believe it would all come back to you... Will Honestly, it sounds like you had a far better time anyway!
  18. Probably not in our life time, but what a present to leave your kids! Will PS, My first Z was a '76 2+2 and I had some absolutely unbelievable times in and around that car, It waZ exceptionally valuable to me. I sold it for a song to an enthusiast who I thought would get the same enjoyment out of it I did, but It was in the local pick a part less than a year later, and I didn't find it soon enough...
  19. Hard to tell without pics. The tramming measurements are in the FSM-Charley Osborne sells most everything(other than a welder) you'll need-and it looks right. http://www.datsunzparts.com/netscape/floorandrails.htm Will
  20. I figured everywhere you went the authorities would be shipping you out to the back of bourke in a divvy van or a a booze bus-can't have your technacolor laughs painting all of their property! I expect the local papers will have a complete account of your escapades! Personally I envisioned you(after loosing your face on a slab of XXXX) spruiking some lovely drongo that Thursday was "white tip" day in where every you were. After your success, her boyfriend(the one who actually brought her to the beach to do the naughty, and was in the short poppies) tried to give you a gobful after you cracked the fat at her dropping her top , and you put your wobbly foot up his freckle! Glad to know the Magistrate kept his son out of the papers! Will PS, glad you are home ya bloody larrikan! If you will be there a while(making up for lost time with the Neighborhood ladies, the local pub, and the chook Races), I have a box ready for the postie... Will
  21. Welcome! Congratulations on the finds! Post pictures of now and progress! Will

From everything in the ad, I believe the car is being sold by aZCCA convention Hooters Wingman, meaning: he knows Zs; he wouldn't knowingly misrepresent it, and he has done FINE work on other Zs. Will
  23. Members of both honoring the difference in content between Hybridz and ClassicZCars! Thanks for the link! I always thought the modified needle profile would be easy to change, but difficult to figure. I envisioned tuning the profile with a series of precision nested tubes relieved at the butt end and jigged through a mount to knurled movements, and then using the lathe to make the actual needle. Will
  24. When considering entering your car in a show what are the biggest issues? Drive/transport, Lodging/Parking, travel space for the family, detailing after driving... Post your thoughts!
  25. If you have issues finding a spook and its mounting panels, I have a full set uff the car. Will
