Need someone to restore a 260.....any ideas?
If Savannah, GA isn't too far away for you. Asian Automotive could easily handle the mechanicals, and there is a Concourse bodyshop that does first in first out here that will tone down their results to a smaller budget-better results than I have seen coming from anywhere else. WIll

The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance
For those of you wanting to get together at AMelia I am heading to Little Talbot State park in a moment. It is seriously foggy. If the weather at the park is not suitable for a good meet, We will hook up at Clarkes Fish camp at 12-12:30 for lunch, afterwards, and figure out where to go from there. We are staying at the BeachSide Motel in Fernandina-right across the street from the Surf Restaurant mentioned above. Will PS I will leave word of changes at the park gate. WIll

The hardest part to find
Mike, I agree the data plates make the car, but the data plates are increasingly easy to get as we have had sellers in the past offer to remove and ship portions of the firewall, the plates, and the title...'corse if you have them... I have not come to a suitable answer on the question at hand, but I do agree that it is a problem, and that it should be addressed. Arne, Absolutely not:finger:, you shouldn't be allowed to buy or install anything else:finger:-your car is too nice as it is;)! Ron, I must admit, I am setting my '72 up to be partially dressed as a low vin or as the "72 it is with a console change(until I get my low vin). For my own use an indistinguishable reproduction part is preferable-I have two little boys who I would like to teach to enjoy 240Zs-because I would not spend a second thought over a broken reproduction Aperture Mask where as I would be highly irregular if the original was broken. In my own reproductions, I will not offer them until they are visually indistinguishable from the original part. I heard a quote the other day that makes sense here(in terms of its parallel) Guns kill people exactly like a spoon made Rosie O'donnell fat. High quality reproduction parts availability makes a fraudulent car the same way. Having said that, it does bother me that nice things can be used by the NGAJr.s of the world for nefarious purposes. My conclusion is some people will speed given roads and posted speed limits, and some people will not-the honesty of the individual is the guide, and that does not mean we should not have roads. I will make the parts as close to perfect copies and technologically possible, make them as available as possible, and the NGAJr.s of the world will do what they are going to do-regardless. Will

The hardest part to find
In making plans to furnish reproduction parts, I worried about similar things, Making it too easy for an unscrupulous Datsun Seller to dress a later car as a low vin, and present it as such. Zedd Findings requires a copy of your title to sell data plates and they come pre-punched. I considered similar measures to limit the availablity of the early parts to those who actually have early cars. Not to keep the parts rare, but to keep them from being used for the wrong purpose. The hardest part to find
At Cleveland, Judges were asked not to take points for faithful and proper looking parts(reproductions), or for later versions of earlier parts. Unless there is a perfect example of an original part on a car in the show, I can't imagine any judge would take points for a presentable reproduction, and unless the original version of a superceeded part is plentiful, I can't see a judge taking points for using a new version. I do think that if someone had taken the time and energy to hunt down original parts (as opposed to readily available superseeded genuine Nissan parts), that time and energy should count in the score, though I can see how a big budget restoration could afford original parts when a home grown wife regulated(as far as she knows)restoration probably could not. Price per Pound Contest
Still, gets you out of the house, and from under her feetROFL! Great point Alan, fooled me too-even though I was too late to participate. It is crazy the way VAT works for those of you in the other side of the pond (with more frequent exposure to real fairladys-not the Hurley type;)), and that us Yanks don't have consistantly enforced taxes between the states...and we have so many duty rules and guidelines for imported parts that in most cases duties can be avoided(I ordered the last of some Ferrari taillights from EpocaCar several years ago, and in talking to a US Customs agent, he found a duty free classification for them) Will

extra light
John, is your car, or did your car start life as an automatic? The shifter in an automatic had a light that took care of the indicator-all USA harnesses had the pigtail, but only the actual automatic cars got the light assembly that plugs into it. Will

Saturday Plans For the Amelia Island Weekend.
There is a decent amount of construction on I95 from just South of Savannah down to the exit for St Simmons Island. Down to 55 for most of that with trucks moving on and off the highway. Coming from Orlando (4 to 95) was clear-other than the normal Orlando Traffic. Yesterday afternoon I saw a Red S30 being trailored down 95 around Jax. Will

Air bubbles in fuel filter.
Could be the pick up tube, more likely the hose, or an issue with the aux pump if your car has one. For air to get in there from suction, something is not sealed properly... Will

Parts car!
1) late 240z Steeringwheel. 2) looks like the AFM is laying in the back, 3) looks like you have the console that is where it belongs, plus one from a 2+2 laying in the back. 4) lock set if you have the keys and all work 6) Impressive custom rear bumper! 7) Aftermarket/competition header. 8) 2 front grills-on in the passenger compartment 9) sheet metal. fenders, hatch, shelf/rear panel 10) Non egr intake manifold 11) all of the stainless and incidentals. Looks like the car is mostly there-albeit not completely assembled. I don't know about the value of the outboard, but the used sterio equipment you probably did well with... Will

While in FL, I have seen several Mustangs with them hanging off the rear bumper-awful tempting to pull out a machette and cut'em off! Will

Is a used 280zxt worth $450?
If you saw it run and nothing has been removed, the complete drivetrain/ECM/HARNESS is worth $450. IF YOU DIDN'T SEE IT RUN, I WOULD QUESTION WHY IT WOULD GO DOWN IN ONLY A MONTH-and want to see it running-even if it us started and run on a simple propane cylinder with the hose going into the air filter box(it can be done simply) ! 240z Radiator
I would suggest a Modine direct replacement, but that is probably what MSA sells. Will

260z sputtering and cutting off
Sounds a lot like junk in the tank...before the tube went in. Fortunately the tank is pretty easy to drop and clean, but inspect it and clean it out/coat it if you see rust forming inside. Will

Sightings
Driving on 4 into Orlando about 4pm today, I had a Mustard yellow driver 70/71 240Z pass me in the fast lane, then need to get over to exit, I tapped the brakes to give him the right of way, a thumbs up for driving it, and enjoyed the puff of smoke as he down shifted and punched it across four lanes to exit! Windows down, a quick peek back to give me a wave and a thumbs up, and a brunette in the passengers seat-he was having a good day! Yup, I was in the Volvo... Will
