Needed - Help with Z Car Purchase
Tom is right, for $100 and some time you can have what looks like a new dash to most people, this is a picture of a cover in my '73. I marked the only seam that realy stands out-and it is only slightly noticeable when the doors are open. The cut-outs for the gages, and the hazzard switch and the cigarette lighter are also slighty noticeable, as is the altered setback of the glovebox door, but... in reality, most people(unless they know a bunch about Z cars) who are in your car will never notice if you take the time to install the cover correctly. I have both a restored dash and a covered dash, and the cover will suffice for all but show restorations, bragging rights and personal piece of mind! Will

Looking For Original Body Side Molding
I am 100% with out a doubt. The mouldings are not listed in Nissan Fast, or the origianl parts books-they didn't come from Nissan! They are a generic part the dealer put on. "Are you sure they never came from the factory? I purchased a 78 Z new and I don't remember ordering dealer-installed parts. Mine came with the molding on it. Of course, that was a long time ago and my memory ain't what it used to be." If you didn't order the car, and wait for it just as you ordered, the mouldings could have been put on for someone else who was going to buy the car, or the dealer could have just bought and installed them for every car to get the best price(highest markup) Will

Need some bits.
Bill, I probably have everything except the door panels. WIll PS, the inspection lights are the same at least through '83, and are still available from the dealer-if you want new-they are slightly different than the original piece, but cary the same part number.

Looking For Original Body Side Molding
Sorry Bill, But, Z cars did not come from Nissan with that moulding-it was a dealer add on, call any automotive trim shop(not a parts store-they usually don't have a clue on this) in the phone book-they will either have it or be able to order it-Ed, there is a place here-I will see if they are open on Saturdays, if not let me know the color(s) you need and if they are in stock, I will have them waiting for you. Interior Help 260z
The floors are a little different between the years, if the later year you choose has too much carpet-you could have it cut and rebound, if it has too little, you would see some of the floor. Here are some suggestions: If they do not specify 260 2+2, call them and be sure. http://www.stockinteriors.com/autocarpet.asp?Itemid=3134&MakeId=38&ModelId=314 http://www.auto-interior.com/datsun1.html#260Z http://www.automotivecarpet.com/product/datsun/74_260Z.html https://www.accmats.com/crl/ShoppingCart.aspx Will

Newbie
As Enrique said, Welcome! (Don't let his post fool you. Enrique is a wellspring of knowledge, and the author of many of the best technical articles I have read!) L28ET parts are pretty plentiful here in the states, I recon they may be a bit more scarce iny our neck of the woods. Don't know about shipping, but in a pinch, I've got lots of spares. Most pople use the stock cam with a turbo head(p90(a)), but your project may benefit from something a bit different-I would have a look at the stroker buildup over at HybridZ.org. Will

A Theory - RHD HS30 Model Standard Exterior Rear View Mirror Fitment
I actually called Warren about the mirrors, and after an email exchange-he did not have any! In your list there is no match for our mirror either! I called several shops on your side of the pond with no luck, so I started carving... The flag is made out of stainless steel. Here is a picture of the parts. I wonder if the mirrors would have different partnumbers there? Will

my clock on dont work in my Z!?
Sounds more like a problem at the fuse box than a problem with the clock-check that the rest of the items on that circuit are not having similar problems-could be a lose connection at the box. Will

240z question
That is pretty much it-pull the pertronics wiring diagram off the site, and use it as a guide-the parts will be stock, but it shows everything in followable order. Will

2006 350Z Commercial
Ok, my humanity has resurfaced, and I played the ad again-but I have to say my first impression stuck-that music is for a fast luxury car, not a true sports car. When I think of driveing a Z fast with no consern for hitting anyone or anything, either the engine is the music with solos from the tires, or there is an undeniable quick beat that is a fundamental harmonic of my heart beat in flux, and supports the very ques that cause my dialation state to become more advanced! The music behind the ad should be exciting, not merely enjoyable-the words should be like those of so many rock songs, almost lost in the beat. I would want the consumer to remember the message of the ad, not the parts used to inspire it. The barbie and Gi-Joe ad had the car as a tool for enjoyment and getting the girl, the music was about getting lost in both. This song is for thoughts of driving the car, not actually driving the car. Change the music, and they could have something, but instead of occasionally seeing a guy driving the car, we should see what he sees from his vantage point, after all, a Z is beautifuf from any angle(well maybe not a 350Z), but I prefer the view from the drivers seat(the only great view of a 350Z). Will If I can figure out how to save the car noises and cull the "music", I may have to edit the sound track and repost the commercial(only a link).

240z question
Verify the ignition circuit from the ign. switch to the coil your problem should not be too tough to find-not much between the two. Take a spare switch, coil, and an engine harness or enough wire to "rig" it. You should be running quickly. Will

A Theory - RHD HS30 Model Standard Exterior Rear View Mirror Fitment
Our drivers side-your passenger side. Our Nissan lists have no part number for the other side. Period Nissan convention is for the left and right to have successive part numbers, both 96300-E4600 and 96302-E4600 come up as bad part numbers. I have been hunting for a true passenger side (over here in Yank land) mirror for quite a while, and posted for help several times: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17716&highlight=usa+members http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17707&highlight=pond I have even written to Nissan for help as indicated by the last post of the first referenced thread. In the mean time, I have even been working on my own. I am now getting a convex mirror into the flag. The mirror is ready, putting it in the flag to look right is what is left. After a little more shapeing, I will be sending the stalk out to be cast next week. When these are done, if they work out right, Victor Lawrey will be getting the second one. I will be putting up a technical article when I get the stalk back and can actually mount a finished mirror on a door(hpefully less than 30 days-depending on casting time. Will

Hello
Jeramy, I appologize for this. Tom(240ZX), You are most definitely entitled to your opinion, and I would defend your right to have it. What bothered me is you did just what you accused him of. Please notice, I gave answers to Jeramys' question before I addressed you. It is his thread! TomoHawk is just as entitled to not answer a question as you are-but his post was at least generally dealing with the issue of the thread-yours ignored it completely. Sort of like seeing someone ignoring the speed limit, and going after them for a citizens arrest-same guilt no matter what the justification. To me that is Hypocritical-and that is one thing that gets on my last nerve. I am going to speed to bring attention to the fact someone else was speeding? It is perfectly ok for me to do it, but noone else can or I will. As to my holiness, You are smarter than that, you don't need forgiveness from me, only perhaps the odd z part, occasionally a pittance of advice on the cars, and the setup for ironic marterdom you occasionally turn my replies into.
