pulling the spade connector off the starter solenoid would keep her from making you too nervous... Will
  2. I have two sets of the KV85s for my L28ET turbo projects, I wish they were $80... The Early NGK wires had Translucent blue insulation-I have a set I kept purely because I thought they were cool looking. The last set of NGK wires I bought(last year) were opaque blue insulation. Will
  3. Tomohawk, Here is the only correct custom made spark plug wire I am aware of: http://www.magnecor.com/magnecor1/main.htm . . . . . . . . . . Or, order a set of NGK wires (NGK Part # 8105 {#NE61}) from RockAuto for about $25 shipped-they are made for NGK Plugs, and the L28. Will

Score one for ToXIc! Write down the vins/mfr dates and take inside and outside pics of all the cars, it is easier to know where a needed part is,than to travel and find out where it isn't! Every private parts car I visit I do this to, so even if the car isn;t mine, I know what should be on it-it really helps when it comes time to consider buying another parts car. Will
  5. Come on guys it doesn't look that terrible.... remember mine... http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=12158&ppuser=4106 http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=12172&ppuser=4106 Will

There is room for everyone! Personally, I have never seen an instruction in any Nissan S30 factory publication (and I have read most all of them-the English versions anyway) that reads anything close to "write a check"-meaning writing a check is not a skill that makes one an expert, but it does not preclude one from being an expert either. I have paid for having things done that I didn't have the tools(including expertise) to do(removing broken 6mm studs from the block, boiling out a radiator, having a mirror resilvered). I know people who believe writing a check makes them an expert, and I know people who know writing a check means that: A) They don't have to be an expert. and They can enjoy instant gratification. C) They won't always get what they paid for. I think everyone falls into both types at one point or another-sometimes you buy something just to be on to the next thing! To me on my Z, personal experience is more important than instant gratification, so more often than not, I'll get my hands in the dirt, and not the ink-and accept that means I may occasionally shout bad words and throw tools-directed into the yard, not the car! The personal experience of writing a check has never made for much Z content...but doing something with the Z parts/tools the check bought has... Will ToXic, don't hold your breath, I looked at a car like that several years ago in that area, advertised as having "just a little rust and being an easy restore" it was well on its way to being restored to its original materials-rusting away back into the earth. Where leaves, extended sitting, and a Z are involved, there will be holes, lots of holes, and probably big holes. Carl and E, you both are among the richest people I know. Knowing and working around your limitations proves your wisdom-if only I were as wise, I wouldn't shout bad words and throw tools! Will
  8. David, Congrats! Don't go filling it up with Z parts! Will

Ron, Chris, I was thinking of the Photos for exactly what Chris noted, differences between new and old fasteners in both design and finish-(ie new hose clamps are all silver and not the iridescent finish of old). Chris, all entries in the Stock class should be that anal! making the spreadsheet in something that will export comma delimited ascii(does anything not?) would allow the data to be imported into a relational database that can support photo fields. I have been using Sun Microsystems Open Office(a freely downloadable open source Microsoft Office clone) for years, I believe it will do the job on both fronts...and provide the framework to incorporate all of the other files of this nature into a seriously indexable guide for judges...for that extra anal measure! Welcome to the site, I hate to be the one to say this but, Professional Race Car Driver, Comepetitive and Low Budget are not terms that go together, the first two absolutely negate the third. You might check over at HybridZ, but I am afraid the news will be the same. I appologize for seeming condemning, but a low budget professional is a hobbiest. It is much like bringing a knife to a gunfight, and I know that isn't what you want to hear. Hang around the track, or ask the racing members, the money adds up and flows faster than the cars. Will

They'd use a Yugo if the product placement bucks were right. it's all about the benjamins... Will
  20. If you have to pay for it, it is yours. If the best in the business don't want that deal, I can write code for plotters and film cutters(every bit as well as anyone)...and I am a perfectionist when it comes to MY Z. 3M publishes all of the specifications of their film, so the particulars used to figure the stretch allowance are as available to anyone as they are to those who want you to pay $1000 for something the best in the business freehand cutter will produce on a car anyway-keep his cuttings and you have the outline for the cuts-from the best in the business. Then it is just a matter of a two dimensional plotter map-most of the cutters are driven by Corel Draw, or a dedicated vector graphic program. I have never let enhanced complication as explained by someone with a vested interest in less competiton stop me from trying anything, about 80% of the time the barrier to entry they chat up is a paper tiger. Will PS, I don't mean any of this against you, but against the guys wanting $1000 to make a pattern. If I pay for a job, all of the results belong to me-I have this same thing going on with some stainless steel Z parts I am negotiating to have made overseas.
  21. I appreciate the info on Venture. I agree, making a supportive test result is easy. I wouldn't even consider a group buy without having a pattern made, I simply wanted to gage the interest-you talked about having a pattern made and a group buy, but evidently no one saw it but me...so I posed the question again to add to your exposure. How many orders do you need for you to make this happen Here is one for the list. Will
  22. In looking for info on these films, I ran across this, and thought it would be good to share. http://www.ventureshield.com/newpdf/Bodycote%20Comparison%20V%203M%201204.pdf Also, how much interest would there be in a group buy? Will
  23. Ron, It may not really address the issue, but my all original '70 SRL311 has a 5 speed knob that is the same size as an original USA market 240 4 speed knob. I'll take it off tomorrow and post a picture. Several parts are shared between the 240 and the late roadsters. Will

Comcast has music channels for 70s, 80s, 90s, and a bunch of others, I am copying the 70s channel at night to get the right music for my Z. It is pretty cool to hear a song that I forgot about, and remember where I was when I last heard it...still waiting for what I was listening to on the school bus when I saw my first Z! Will
  25. He doesn't seem to understand that by telling everyone he won't tell where he had the work done he is building distrust in his target market. Slapping someone before hitting them up for money only works if the slap was a sample of what follows if the money doesn't. I spoke to a member who has a redone set from zeddsaver and was impressed. Will
