  1. It occurred to me that sealing the opening into the passenger compartment would be a good thing too. At first thought simply sealing that large opening sounds like a quicker and easier answer, sealing the openings to the outside is necessary. One of the most frequently rusted out areas at the back of the cars is the hatch shelf. It rusts out because of continual exposure to the tailpipe fumes and condensation continually pulled into that area and the failure of the body seals/paint due to vibration/expansion/contraction. Pretty much one of the two reasons the hatches also rust out... In my opinion, sealing all of the holes in the hatch is a necessary action. I haven't used the emblem clips that come on the emblems in years, I run a small bead of silicone adhesive around the emblem pins, and allow it to seal the area and hold the emblems on. I also run a film of the same silicone on both sides of the the rubber seals on all of the locks, and the door mirror, being carefull not to allow the silicone to get close enough to the outer edge to peek out after the squeeze of final assembly. The silicone comes off easily when the parts are separated, and keeps the seals from leaking as they get old. Will

Ron, It is obvious you don't spend much time in the dark-not surprising given you are such an enlightened guy-you did better than i could-I wouldn't even post my attempt! Will

I did the "37 year service" to my original antenna (and a couple of extras) and put it away for posterity. All of them went from barely moving and noisy as hell to smooth as glass and almost silent...almost a shame to file them away in a box! I am closing the fender, and installing a wire antenna in both the front and rear wind shield weatherstripping.
  6. unfortunately they are a part of the Black Pearl pieces I have collected, so they aren't for sale, but I will keep an eye out for you. I do have parts cars that have louvers-or did at one time, so next time I am at the farm, I'll have a look! Will Mgood, your louvers look bigger than the window-the sets I have are all the same size as the Weatherstrip-meaning they don't cover hardly any of the hatch sheetmetal-only at the top(for the hinges. I don't have them and a hatch handy to illustrate, but they seem to fit the opening much closer than yours. If I put the latches to the underside of the louver, they would have to be mounted on a piece of sheet metal and it would be between the weatherstrip and the glass.
  7. As promised: Will
  8. Some did, but only from the Dealer-not a Nissan part. Will
  9. Headlight covers-MSA for aftermarket, zcustoms for repro Hatch-Ebay Will
  10. The quarter window louvers mount one of two ways-emblem tape, or install into the glass seal. The rear louvers should have a set of deadbolt slide locks that either mount with sheet metal screws to the hatch lid, or if they are a later version, to a fitted piece of black anodized aluminum sheet that tucks under the lower window seal in the two lower corners. I have a set of the deadbolts, that I will hunt and post a picture of for you. Have a look at the lower corners of the hatch louvers, there should be one 1/4" hole on each side. Will
  11. I have a couple more, pm me, and I'll send one out. Will

If the Z is EFI and the fuel pump is from a 79-83 zx you won't have any issues. If the Z is carb'd-don't waste the energy trying-way too much pressure and flow. Will
  14. I understand...I don't plan on camping out this time either! Will
  15. Arne, Are you telling me that yours is the only Z that doesn't make quick work of a long trip? It is a wee bit out of the normal ZPS route! Will
  16. What's your reason? Will
  17. Most of the hotels close by are booked solid, and have been for months, the best bet is to stay in Jacksonville and drive up. If I get a head count, I will see about the possibility of securing a block of rooms somewhere. Will
  18. Ok Guys, The website for this years Amelia Island Concours is up! Tickets are less expensive in advance, and can be bought here. https://www.ameliaconcours.org/shop/...p?categoryid=5 One very cool thing they will have-in addition to Carl Becks BRE Rally Car, is a panel talk titled: "The Great Customizers", the panel will include Chip Foose, George Barris, Dean Jeffries, Darryl Starbird, Steve Pasteiner & Gene Winfield. The talk will be given Friday March 13th from 3-4:30. With any luck, the talk will be taped and available on DVD-I will check into that, and pre-order if possible-if not, I will find a way to get there mid day Friday and tape it myself. I am still working on getting a Z gathering together on Saturday so those of us who will be there to see Carl and his Car on the Green can hook up and plan for parking together on the parkway leading up to the show. I will post details as they are put in place-please let me know if you plan to be in the area! Will

Great Video, only one part of the car I saw that I could not identify-YOU! With all of the work, effort and time you have put in to this exquisite car, you are a part of it! Will
  20. I picked up more than I need from ebay-pm me your address.... Will
  21. For the vents, I am using a gasket I made from adhesive backed neoprene foam to seal the vent plenum to the inside of the hatch. I am using pretty much the same thing on the lock mechanism-a sheet of the same neoprene sealing behind the mechanism. Will
  22. Oh sure! Now that I braved the freezing monsoon....Ok, a lite drizzle and 40 degrees.... Anyway. Internal part 90820-e4100
  23. It is raining and cold(for South Georgia anyway) here now. When it stops raining, I'll head out to the trailer and snap a pic or two of the nos parts(and numbers) for you. As I said earlier, you can get the grills from the dealer, if you seal theupper and lower hatch openings, that is all you need for the right look-and you avoid the possibility of exhaust being drawn into the cockpit. Ebay has the other parts you need on occassion, but be careful, they effectively crumble with age, what looks great in a picture can fall apart in your hands. Will
  24. Grills are still available from your local Nissan Dealer at around $25 each. The inner plenums are not, and are found in three varieties. Will
  25. and more... The aftermarket Kenwood radio was installed with all of the speaker wires cut off-using only the rca outs. In reviewing the proper owners/install manual downloaded from Kenwoods web site for the unit-this option is not listed at all-leading me to believe(not tested yet) that the amplifier in the radio was(is) probably dead when the unit was installed. Have a peek at the wiring on the license lamp-indicative of the radio install. Several cut wires(B+) cut not wrapped. Will
