That's good info Ed, noone here will powdercoat headers citing that the powder coat will not hold up-that's why I left it off. Needless to say I am exploring my options with this thread... Will

    What finish should headers have?
  3. The Fact remains, you did steal from someones car-the owner of the junk yard is someone, and the car you stole from was his. You made a bad choice, but it is up to you to understand that, the fact that you keep coming back to this thread proves that you know better, you chose not to do better. If you can't bring yourself to make this time right, do better every next time. Will I'm closing the thread. You have enough opinions, and nothing new has come up in a while. None of this is to chase you from the club, it is to help you become a more responsible member. Will
  4. Oh ye of little faith! It looks different already! I have hew working with free weights! Will
  5. I would say this place IS filled with his friends, and we care enough to set him straight-ignoring is easy, calling him out on it is hard.. If you ever consult a professional counselor or a text on the subject or on parenting, I can absolutley assure you that ignoring is the treatment for aggravating behavior, not behavior that can lead to jail time. Involvement is a caring attitude, neglect is a careless attitude-both have their place in teaching, but if we are his peers in his mind the reaction we gave should help him to grow past that phase. Will
  6. Ditto on the bumper mounts, My car has been on them for far too long, and will be comming off soon! Will

Wow! I must have good Charma! I was just getting ready to research this very part! I just thought about it and "poof" :laugh:here it is! I'm thinking about my car being ready for Daytona now-I guess I better wait a few minutes before I head to the garage! Will
  8. Ok, Wingo, I think there is a distinct difference between hiding someones trash with a public history to keep it from being destroyed(even with a salvage value) until a legal change in ownership to benefit the public can be explored, and taking something that is for sale for personal use. It would have been very interesting to see the EV1 done that way... Will

I've got several, but shipping would be killer-even at cost! WIll
  10. For those who tuned in late, the Dana Carvey doing George Bush version: Stealing... Bad! Buying, Good! Stealing would not be prudent at this juncture.... Aingonna do it... Do better next time, treat people the way you want to be treated! Will
  11. Dave, how would you feel if it was your parts car the piece came off and you were selling its parts to make a living? Have you made your fair share of selling harnesses and upgrades that we should feel ok about stealing them? Two bad actions do not cancel out-now the junk yard has annother justification for treating customers the way they did-it isn't him against me, and it doesn't end untill someone is the bigger man and takes his money elsewhere the next time. He is 19, and just like most people will not learn better unless he is expected, and held accountable to. No one hurt threatened, of forced him to read their posts, they may have given him a rough time over his actions, but how did anything done in this forum really hurt him? A thread that deals with issues like this is important and as long as no one gets insulting, or inflamatory, and remains factual I don't see a reason to close it. Consequence is tought or ignored-and there is a consequence to that as well. I want a better world for my kids. Wingo-that is the best post of yours I have read I'll have to think of an appropriate and justifiable response!! Can you really steal someoneelses garbage? Maybe if there is salvage value? Will
  12. The only judgement I made was that you took enough pride in walking the parts out without paying to post it for all to see with an animated smiley face at the end. Will
  13. They are OEM pieces that can't be gotten from Nissan any more-and as you said "OEM pieces will always command premium prices"-as long as they are in excellent shape, and the NLA versions will get the highest prices as they are the right part for concorse restorations. Considering the availability of the steel buckets and the rarity of the FRP version, it only makes sense to keep the FRP on the shelf for a low vin restoration and use the steel for modification. I don't think Eiji would ever consider installing or selling "aftermarket Junk". If he is involved, the parts are obviously high quality-as an owner of a genuine NOS set, I can tell you the fit of the originals is equivalent to aftermarket parts-they must be fitted-though the finish is beautiful. I keep original boxes, (and FRP buckets) of corse I am keeping the original hardware... Will
  14. I am in the process of mounting my NOS headlight set, and had the same situation you have, I chose to go with a metal set becuase the frp is so rare I didn't want to put holes in a pristine original part. Even the NOS covers do not fit all that well, and the original hardware installation method is more complex than it should be, the brackets(see my gallery for pictures) mount on the outside of the bucket and under the cover-meaning there is even more to lift the cover off the surface of the bucket...add to that the rust prone original hardware, and I am using nut rivets and stainless steel hardware-but the fit is tight because of the positioning of the holes relative to the relief of the bucket; because of that, I had considered using POR epoxy behind the bucket and tapping it for the attatchment screws. Will
  15. Well, for the second time, my scanner has crapped out-It isn't like I run several thousand pages of Z documents through it.... Nathan, I'll PM you and figure out another plan of attack! Will
  16. 1)Get your vin and lets see if your car was cobbled into an NA. I didn't find a complete view of the engine with the vacuum hoses labeled. I have to take a little while and put the youngsters to bed, the big little one is ready to lie down and that means I must too. Back in about a half an hour or so-depending on Mr. Sandmans timing... List what you are after, and I'll do my best-but most of the detail of this manual is spent on the ECCS system that was used in the turbo cars- If my connection times out, I haven't left you hanging... Will
  17. 1) if your vin has a "T" in it, the car was a turbo model. 2) first scans-still looking for the vacuum lines for a NA....
  18. Finally-Lunch was a bust, but I have the "83 FSM in my hot little hands-I'll be scanning momentarily, and posting shortly thereafter. WIll
  19. I've got the '83FSM for the DVD project, I'll see about scanning and posting the appropriate vacuum charts and ficd info at lunch today. Will

Arne, I'm glad your experiences were good, I spent 1/3 of the purchase price on assorted non driveline repairs and parts in the first nine months of ownership of an absolutely beautiful, extreemly well maintained 140K 3 series then I after talking to the parts manager at the local BMW dealership off the clock, followed his advice, and sold the car that weekend. I sold it for what I had in it, and the buyer came back to me three times to ask me to take care of repairs over the next month-each time I pointed to the "AS IS in the ad and the fact that he had a mechanic check it over. That experience ended my BMW courtship. Will

Nice looking car, but my experience with 100k plus 3 series is be pepaired to be 50 and 100 dollared to death(vs nickled and dimed with a Z!) All the little stuf with a Bimmer is considerably more expensive... Will
