No apologies necessary, I love all this stuff. As for finding those in Aus', they are much harder to come by here because they were never sold here. There are some around but mostly they are nice ones someone imported and they are VERY expensive. I just did a search and there are 6 Chevy 3100's for sale in Aus and they range in price from $37k-$87k AUD (so around $27k-$65 USD). That said Z's are super expensive here too with the current advertised 2 seat Z's ranging from $32k to $65k AUD.

I will definitely have to add one of those to the future build list.

That is so cool. I love that body shape, I would love to build that as a rat rod with a new chassis, but leave the patina exactly like it is!

I have just had a look and although the gauges are in the newer dash, there is no harness in there, so I will have to head back out to Zac's and see what I can scrounge. That will need to be a job for later though, as he is not just around the corner from me.

Absolutely. The full size trucks definitely have their place, I am just stirring things up ? I know a guy here who has an F650 triple cab, and basically it is just taken to small fairs, etc, to give charity drives and as an attraction. I am sure that is still a big vehicle there, but here it is a spectacle. Now that is my type of truck. I am definitely interested in doing an early Ford or Chevy truck build one of these days.

I have an old Mercedes ML500 and it can tow 3500kg. I have driven across the country with my heavy lunk of a car trailer with car on it, and it will sit on 120kph up any hill without trying AND I can park it anywhere ? I used to have a Holden ute, and the tray on that was fantastic. Long and low so you could reach into it. I had a Hilux after that and I hated it as the tray is so high, it is a pain to get things in and out of. That is why I decided a comfortable SUV and a trailer is the better option for me. That said, if I was travelling around the country to race events or similar all the time, it would be nice to have a big enclosed trailer, but I don't have the need for it at this stage.

I believe that there are more F150's made than any other vehicle in the world, and it is only sold in North America. Silverado's are just being introduced this year I believe in limited numbers. The F250 was available for a couple of years a decade or so ago I believe, but very few sold and they discontinued it. We don't really have any need for the big trucks here, although does anyone really need a truck that big? ?

Haha, the Hilux is a big truck in Aus ?

Haha, Supercheap Auto is the Australian version of somthing like Autozone I think. Our most popular tradesman vehicle is the Toyota Hilux, think Australia's version of the F150.

You are the second one to suggest that, so I will see what I can dig up. Thanks.

Now most of the painting is done, I realised I didn't know what I needed to to next so it was time to formulate a plan.

Today's task was to paint the rest of the parts for the 680, but it didn't exactly go to plan..

Home Built Z 'Full video build'
I have seen plenty of paint jobs done in professional booths with more dust in them, so I am very happy.

Wow the paint looks great in the sun! This week I unmask the car, and do something with those nasty mirrors.

It has been a whole lot more work than I had hoped, but I finally have the car in paint.

There are 3 layers of base colour, then 3 layers of the translucent top coat, then 3 layers of clear. As for the hinges I painted them all open, and I will go back with the airbrush if there are still bits the show without colour.
