Easiest way to remove tacho from '72 240Z?
Chris, you got me with that insect emoticon crawling around your signature! I smacked the monitor a couple of times before I realized......

I need help
Actually, they can be rebuilt. There are shops that do that. It would cost less to get a used one from the 'yard but be sure you inspect it well.

Easiest way to remove tacho from '72 240Z?
Where do you get that info from? The couple of times I removed the tach from my 78 280Z, I pulled it from the front as per the factory service manual's instructions.

Pantera look a like Rear Lid
It either fits a S130 or an S30, not possibly both as stated. If it truly "Was last on a car about 10 years ago for a short time" you would think the seller would recall which model it was on.

Trunk carpet help
That's what the can of air is for. Your relocated battery won't do you any good at that point if what you actually need is a spare tire......

School Break
Isn't that the same 'Little Johnny' joke they used when Bill Clinton had his little encounter with Monica Lewinski? Oh well, I guess it fits.

1978 280z Pinout
If you're talking about pin #1 at the ECU, it appears to go to the ignition coil according to the diagram on page EF-24 in the 1978 FSM. It provides the 'revolution trigger signal' according to the chart on page EF-25.

Who has owned their Z the longest?
It wasn't there the day I ordered it. At least, it wasn't at the dealership. I didn't take delivery until months later as stated above.

Temp gauge sensor
I could send you a threaded sleeve if you can't get yours out. I've got a couple of spares. (I guess this would actually belong in the 'Pay it forward' theread) PM me if you need it.

In jcote75's post (#5), I just noticed that my wife Daisey is in that picture under the tree!

Who has owned their Z the longest?
IIRC mine came in sometime in mid to late May, 1970 at Pomona Valley Datsun, Pomona, California. I'm fairly certain it wasn't June yet because I drove it to school (Cal Poly Pomona) for a couple of weeks before Summer break.

Who has owned their Z the longest?
It wasn't. I was working at the dealership at the time and that was the day I placed the order. Not sure the exact date I took delivery but, yes, it wasn't until at least mid-May.

Who has owned their Z the longest?
I bought my 70 on January 12, 1970. HLS30-00488. I can always recall the date because it was the day after Super Bowl IV. (Chiefs 23-Vikings 7) Unfortunately, I sold it in late 71, not sure of the date, and haven't seen it since.

Stock 280z wheels
About the closest thing to a 'stock' aluminum rim for your 78 would be the factory option alloy wheel I had on my 78. They were on the car when I bought it from the original owner. He ordered the car from Ontario Datsun with those wheels on it. I took them off the car when I bought it because they needed to be be cleaned up. I put them back on it about 5 years later and they were on it when I sold it in May this year. They come up for sale every now and them but they seem to be getting pricier.

Datsun makes it on Cash Cab
I don't know how I could have left Gene Frenkle off my list.

Datsun makes it on Cash Cab
Jimi Hendrix, Charlie Parker, and John Coltrane also fall into that catagory for me.....or even Lee Morgan if I played trumpet.

Datsun makes it on Cash Cab
I know of two Robert Johnsons. One was a blues singer/songwriter/musician in the U.S. who died in the late 1930s. Still has influence on modern musicians. He was the writer of "Crossroads", a song performed by Eric Clapton. The other is the founder of B.E.T (Black Entertainment Television). I doubt that you are referring to either of them.

Datsun makes it on Cash Cab
I didn't ask all that. Like I said, I didn't see the show (or their discussion forum) but my statement was two fold. You answered the first one but failed on the second one. We're on a Datsun forum not the Cash Cab forum. Remember, you're the one who awakened the thread.

Datsun makes it on Cash Cab
You should have quit while you were ahead. You know, of course, that that is WRONG.

Datsun makes it on Cash Cab
Depends on how the question was posed. Didn't see the show. Were they clearly talking about Datsun/Nissan?

Is this 280ZX look good?
If it's still available nearly three months later, that would be an indication that the price is too high. Regardless of the work they've done, it's just a basic ZX, not a Anniversary edition, a ZXR etc. I've often seen ZX's equally as nice, at least in appearance, for well under $10K.

How do I test a 280 clock?
Tomohawk. You're at it again. Let them deal with the subject of the thread which is testing. If you really want to argue about how they work, start you own thread.
