  2. You'd have to find someone at the present day Nissan the gives a damn about history. Might be a lifetime search......
  3. C, they can delete mine at the same time. Sounds like a rather thinly veiled put on to me. Possibly under an 'assumed name'. Look at the occaisional misspellling. You can spell knowlege, immaterial, or signifigant but not board, whole, or Camaro? Here's my 'carefully worded' response. Chrissimmons, get lost!
  4. Short answer, yes. If you scroll down to "1977 through 1983 Factory Four/Five Speed Transmission Ratios" on Mr. Becks site you'll see the differences. Messers Golik, Bell, and Corrigan who are three Datsun gurus in their own right also contributed to this compilation. http://www2.zhome.com:81/ZCMnL/tech/GearRatios.html
  5. Looks to be a 79 and up 5 speed. It has a higher fifth gear than the 78 trans. You'll want to hook up the farthest forward 'sensor' as that the your reverse light switch. The other two won't matter on a 78 since there is no provision for them in the car. They are part of the 79 and up emission control (vacuum switching valve) system. I had that same trans in my 78 and I liked the higher fifth; a little better freeway/highway mpg. Mine came from an 83 Maxima which is the same as a ZX 5 speed.

The purpose of calling a junkyard was to establish a 'buy-back' value not to actually sell it to them.

This is about 4 months old. The OP hasn't been here sice September. I wonder if he ever did solve the problem.

I can see by that statement that you do understand. Even you alluded to your low post count here. I meant no hostility; just an observation. Nothing personal. Ebay may be a 'structured selling environment' but I've had a few bad experiences over the years. Due to that, I approach eBay with the appropriate skepticism. All that being said, welcome to the site! A trustworthy vendor is always welcome.

I notice that you've only had the eBay 'monniker' datsunation since November 26, 2009 but 6 1/2 years with another. With all due respect and considering all that goes on on eBay, pardon me if I'm not impressed by your 2 months of documentable 100% feedback when there's really no way to track your previous ID history.

In that case, I'd use the 77 diagram since the car is a 77. What parts of the fuel injection are from a 78? As long as the components in the car are 77 components, i.e., ECU, relays, AFM, etc., I'd follow the 77 diagram.

There are some differences. 78's don't have fuel pump contacts in the air flow meter, 78's have an internally regulated alternator. Some pins used on the ECU connector on a 77 are not used on a 78. In short, you would need to use the correct year diagram.

All I did was pass the diagram on to you. Thank Wayne (wal280z), he's the one that originally posted it here some years ago. I have some tested, working, clean fusible links (3 red, 1 black). I used to carry them in the glove box as spares when I had my Z. PM me if you want them, they're yours for postage. (Like the 'pay it forward' thread).
  13. I was just being obtuse. That engine is sweet.......
  14. You guys keep this up and I'll post a picture of my LS2. It's not an L28 but at least it's fuel injected.......
  15. datsun-parts? Don't go there! Search him (Al Allen) on this site when you have the time. It's informative reading and you can decide for yourself.
  16. It looks like all the other 47+ year old decals/stickers/graphics on the car have been redone. I wonder why not the 'NGK'?

Try this one. It's large, in color and for a 77: http://www.classiczcars.com/downloads/F77ZCAR-WIRING.pdf

I actually got 100%! (Two lucky guesses on the Honda Civic and Dodge Caravan)

That link doesn't seem to go where you must have intended it to go.
  20. That light not only indicates that the emergency brake is on but can also indicate low fluid if the car has the caps on the MC that monitor fluid level or it could also indicate a line pressure differential problem between the front and rear brakes.

Ease up, though I'm not sure what you're really trying to say with this but it's not my joke, I'm just passing it on. If a dog bites me when I'm walking down the street I'll bite him back!

HOME DEPOT SCAM Be careful in the Home Depot parking lots……… A big 'Heads up' for those men who may be regular Home Depot or Lowes customers. This one caught me by surprise. Back in November, I became a victim of a clever scam while out shopping. Simply going out to get supplies has turned out to be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your friends. Here's how the scam works: Two seriously good-looking 20-21 year-old girls come over to your car as you are packing your purchases into the back of your SUV or Truck. They both have battery powered car vacuums and start vacuuming the inside of your vehicle, cleaning the inside of your windshield with a rag and Windex, with their breasts almost falling out of their coats. It is impossible not to look at them. When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say, 'No' and instead ask you for a ride to McDonalds or the closest fast food restaurant. You agree and they get into the back seat. On the way, they start undressing. Then one of them climbs over into the front seat and starts crawling all over you, breasts everywhere, while the other one steals your wallet. I had my wallet stolen on December 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the15th, 17th, 20th, the 20, 24th and 29th. Also on January 2nd & 4th, twice on the 8th, 16th, 23rd, three times last Monday, and very likely again this upcoming weekend. So tell your friends to be careful. P.S. Wal-Mart has wallets on sale for $1.99 each

  24. I just voted again (5th time) but overall it looks like we're going backwards.........
  25. For the most part I'd agree with that though I don't think that is where Jon was going.......
