If you can't find the OEM Nissan valve, try Bosch #0 280 140 124. It's a direct replacement for the JECS Air Regulator that Nissan used. Had one on my 78 280Z for almost the entire time I owned it.

It's sometimes called the Air Regulator.

The OP's question was actually answered in post #2 and acknowledged in post #3. The inane comment in post #4 is what lead to all of these superfluous posts......as usual.

Obviously, he's confusing a remote starter with a remote start system:stupid:

I play all woodwinds including sax, flute, piccolo, oboe, bass guitar, and keyboards. Played in bands in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Still do it for fun. I have a Kawai digital piano, a Fender Rhodes electric piano, a Yahama synthesizer, Soprano, tenor and baritone saxes, flute, piccolo, Carlo Robelli acoustic/electric bass, and a Yamaha FG300 acoustic guitar.

You'll need to use the 77 FSM to troubleshoot a 77. There were enough changes in 78 to where it make things confusing. (internal regulator, no fuel pump contacts in the AFM, etc.) You would actually need to remove the fuel line from the cold start valve and plug it to be sure it's not leaking as it could leak with or without the electrical signal from the thermotime switch. No O2 sensor on an S30. I would check the water temp sensor first as Zed Head suggested, however. Here's a link to a 77 FSM. http://www.xenons30.com/files/FSM/77_datsun_280z.zip

I have that exact unit (the top one) in my spares. I pulled it from a running but wrecked 76 about three years ago. Missing pins won't fry anything, it just won't work/run properly. I've never seen one for an S30 missing all the pins on that side (29-35). Some of the 810s and 910s (Maxima) are set up that way but those units should never be used in a 78 or earlier vehicle. If Jim doesn't have one send me a PM.

Isn't the SSR wheel a 6 spoke design? The ones I've seen, referred to sometimes as Longchamp SSR, XR4 (or something like that) were always 6 spoke.

Arne, she said pistons not carbs. Since she mentions opening it up could be she really does mean pistons. Though I've never heard anything about 240Zs with flat top pistons tending to catch on fire........
  13. I also bent my own wrenches as per lbpdz's post. For bumping the starter, I use a remote switch which is easier than using the ignition.
  14. I believe that the 1980 was the only 720 with an L engine which, IMO, makes it better than the 81-83 which has the NapsZ smog motor. The 720 actually was made through 1986. You can't go wrong for that price. Wish I would have found one of those. I would have taken it over the 1990 Ranger I ended up with simply because it's a Datsun.
  15. This is what you asked for:

    No, it was 905 Red.
  17. Oh, I get what you're saying, Bob. You know, rzkas is also over there on ZCar and I think he's on Hybrid too.

I once owned 00488, in fact I bought it new in 1970.
  19. I see no similarity. Though they're both from Washington, ChrisS30 writes in more or less understandable English. rzkas....not so much. I'd actually try to help rzkas if I could ever figure out what the hell he's talking about:confused:. And if you're talking about the Tony D. that also posts on this site...again no similarity. I see nothing wrong with his posts plus he's from California.

Kind of pricey if these are what you're after: http://wheelwarehouse.com/p-4259-wedssport-wheels-cap-option-2.aspx
  21. Isn't that pretty much what I said? E.G. "I don't know the story on Jeffrey's car."
  22. Remember that clown that was building the 200 MPH Z a couple years back? He kept posting, regardless of what anyone said and then, one day, just up and sold everything? I think the name was cremmenga or something like that. Another 20 year old. Ironically, they're both named Chris.
  23. From oklahomadan's write up on Z Car.com: I don't know if that makes is worth more either. But it's more than "stripes and some spoilers". I've always questioned the worth of a ZZZap or BPE over any other 280Z since they have no documentation or markings/badges to distinguish them from the others. If nothing else, the Bob Sharp history is interesting. Plus, his was a pace car. I don't know the story on Jeffrey's car.
  24. From what I know about the Bob Sharp GT-33 cars they were more than just 'put on accessories and some stripes and call it a special edition'. Don't confuse this with efforts like the infamous Seattle 'Z-Hawk' which was just dealer applied stripes and no accessories.

I think you're just looking for reactions to your posts. Try Hybrid Z...they'll love you over there. Here? Not so much as you've already found out.
