braided hoses?
I bought mine through the local Nissan dealer about four years ago. I've not checked into today's availability but they were available then.

Are you talking about cloth braided like the original or steel?

C110 for sale in japan
Badging is one thing. Attempting to sell it as something it isn't is entirely different.

Sweet story: Guy reminisces over Z
The Z is a whole different mindset. I've owned a couple of 510s and a Roadster in the past. I've no desire to own another 510 and while I wish I'd never sold my roadster, I've no plans to ever buy another one. But the Z, well I'll own that until I'm gone.

Does anyone have headlight covers on a silver Z?
Chris, how many mounts do yours have? Appears to be 4. Mine are also from MSA but only have three mounts.

Does anyone have headlight covers on a silver Z?
The MSA kits, or at least the ones I have, came with double side tape to install the brackets. As I said, they adhesive got weak and I ended up using self taping screws. zhead240, I think you're referring to self drilling screws. They will drill the hole without using a drill bit. I wouldn't use those things anywhwere on a car but either way, there's a hole, or actually 6 holes when you're done. I don't much care for that but that's what had to be done to keep the covers on.

pilot bearing
I remove pilot bushings with a tool that was actually designed to remove valve lifters. Bought it really cheap at Harbor Freight years ago. It actually does a better job of removing pilot bushings than it does removing lifters.

I guess you have to really like headlight covers. I have them on my 78. I ocaisionally have to remove them to clean out the dust and dirt that gets underneath. I once cracked one by tightening one of the screws too tightly, and luckilly, MSA has a single passenger side cover that they sold me as a real reasonable price as a replacement. Initially, the brackets that came with them were mounted with the double side tape that came with them. Over time, the adhesive got weak and I ended up mounting the brackets with small self tapping screws. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't have them. And get me started on that damn bra I've got on it.!

Mystery Console Lever
It looks to be to one of the many different pods that were used to house the controls for aftermarket AC.

Sweet story: Guy reminisces over Z
Well, Darbji, I appreciate the story. I'll save my comments about your avitar for another thread. Anyway, I bought a Z when I was 20, a brand new 1970 and later had a 72 for a while. I sold the 72 a couple of years later. I've owned a lot of cars, and I mean a lot, since then but the Z was always in the back of my mind. Though I took me over 20 years to get another one, I have one now and that one will probably be fought over when they divide up my estate.

"Fairlady" What exactly does it mean?
Don't forget the 810.

When I had mine, parts were pretty easy to find. I bought it in 1977 for $1100 and paid $200 for a wrecked 68 2000 parts car. That picture was taken about 1978 or so. Original paint. That car still looked and ran good when I sold it in 1997 for $2500 to a guy who shipped it to Japan. They've gone crazy over the last ten years. You couldn't touch one in that condition now for less than 5 grand. And the parts supply is dwindling.

Maybe, but if that's the case, isn't it upside down?

1600
Here's the only picture I can find of the 1970 1600 I owned from 1977-1997. It was a stroker using the crank, rods and pistons from a 2000 roadster along with the carbs, and the five speed, the console, etc. from my 68 2000 wrecked parts car. I still have that liscense plate frame on my Z. The blue 73 620 in the carport was also mine at the time.

E, I meant to say that the 67.5 model was the last low windshield model. I would have been clearer had I said the 68 was the first high windshield model. My parts car was a 68 2000. Chuck, maybe these scans from the Sept. 07 issue of Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car magazine will be of some help:

Country Music
I like all kinds of music. In the area of country, I guess the bands I like are really more crossover country/rock/pop types like ZZTop, Atlanta Rhthym Section, Lynryd Skynard, Molly Hatchett, Marshall Tucker, Black Crowes(don't know if they really fit the catagory), etc.

absence of emissions equipment?
78 280Z's don't have air pumps. Only the California cars had cats. I don't have a clue what a 'diverted valve' is.

1600
It depends on the year. From 67.5 the front windshield and roof was taller. I owned a 1970 1600 Roadster for nearly 20 years. I'm 6-2 and didn't have any problems with the top up. It was a stroked 1600 with a 5 speed from a 2000 roadster. I still miss that car sometimes.

I'm bidding on one right now that I probably won't win.

Am I the only one whose named their Z?
Oh, and mine is 'Bluedini II' which is just a carry over from the name of a 510 I once owned. My 320 pickup is 'Woodstock' and the 810 is simply 'Brown' because my brother say it looks like the UPS color.

Wow! I'm generally not a fan of modified Z's but 'Z Wolf' definately jumps out at you! I'm putting that picture in my desktop background folder.
