    I don't think I would have wanted to go 155 mph in my 78, the front end started feeling kind of 'light' above 95. I know I couldn't rev the engine to 9400 rpm.....my GTO won't even do that:)

  4. 78s came with that crappy collapsible spare with the 'can of air'. Very seldom are they actually servicable after all these years. The one time I used mine didn't exactly enstill confidence..........
  5. They pretty much did do that....we just didn't get them here. And there's nothing wrong with digital interfaces, EPROM programmers, computers, etc. Got to roll with the changes. Then was then and now is now. Besides, in the 60s, I wouldn't have been quite old enough to be part of Nissan's design team and many (if not most) of you weren't born yet......

    That sensor is the pressure swicth. Should be a two wire plug with a yellow wire and a yellow/red stripe wire. One wire goes to the AC relay and the other to the thermostatic switch that senses evaporator temperature. The pressure problem you are describng can be caused by excessive moisture in the system. Sometimes evacuating the sytem and pulling a good vacuum on it will cure it but most of the time, you have to replace the drier.

    I guess I just have never been one to add something to cover up a problem. I've always been one to find and fix the actual problem. As far as this being a "common fix on old cars not just z cars", well I've owned several of both and the only cars I ever had Ford solenoids on were the Fords I owned that were supposed to have them.

    Wires, to me, are part of the components. Common or not, I've never thought much of it. More of a 'rig' than a 'fix. JMO......

    I never thought much of that mod. With properly functioning components in the starting system you'd never 'need' it.
  12. The part circled in yellow is the B.P.T valve (backpressure tranducer) which is part of the EGR system.
  13. That is definitely a non North American market factory system. Like I said earlier, you'll probably have a difficult time sourcing parts for it.
  14. There were no USDM Fairladies. There would be many differences between that car and a U.S. market 75 280Z.

  19. I pulled and replaced the T56 in my GTO when I put my new clutch and remote slave bleeder in. I'll tell you what...you wouldn't be bench pressing that bad boy! Maybe a bit of an exaggeration but it seemed to weigh as much as two Z transes!
  20. I cut about 2½" off of one and re threaded it a few years ago but I didn't bend it. I wasn't impressed with it one way or another. Didn't feel that much different from stock to me.

  22. From experience, I'd rather have plastic/fiberglass. Aluminum wouldn't give or break when you hit something like a small animal or some other obstruction in the road, causing more damage to the vehicle itself. I once hit a possum near the fairgrounds when I lived in La Verne. I shredded my fiberglass spoiler but didn't do any damage to the valence.
  23. I've always done tranmission by myself with a floor jack and jack stands. I bought a trans adapter years ago that goes in place of the saddle on my floor jack and not only holds the trans but allows me to tilt and turn it into any position. Didn't cost much but I bought it at least 20 years ago. Similar to the one attached but I use tie downs instead of chain:
  24. I had a 1980 200SX. I don't recall ever seeing much available for the NAPS-Z engines to make them fast. To me, it was just a driver. There is quite a bit of 'poetic license' in that ad.
  25. Well, to me, it's already a clean install and it already looks better then the Healey engine.
