Bumper Set
I Hate it when that happens.. When you pay a lot of money for basically junk.. I know we complain sometimes about prices but good stuff costs money.. i bought some new original ones for 80-90 euro a piece and they are now 20 years old and are still looking good! Old bumperrubber can be rejuvenated bij soaking them in a bucket of hot water with a good amount of washing machine detergent! leave them in it for a week.. or 2! You'll be surprised what comes out/off of these rubbers! and how nice! Ofcourse they have to be in one piece without cracks, very little cracks are gone after a good wash.. (It helps to heat up the water during the week of soak.. can be done with a heating element out of an old deep fryer.)

Hahaha... thats 0.25 mm overhere! đ I have to react to this haha... I once worked with studio equipment, still have some high quality stuff laying around and using some still after 34 years! (Look it up a revox b215 is one of those machines) I was once at the factory in switserland and they make capstanshafts on a machine that measures 1/1000 of a millimeter! (For big taperecorders like the ReVox PR99, Studer A800 etc.etc.) so 0,001 mm exact. They make the shaft and then have to let it rest for a year in storage. Then after about a year they put it in a machine that measures it and if it's out of tolerance ... it's scrap! Her you see a machine made in switserland (Possible also in Germany (Studer revox still in Germany activ.)) The capstan is a shaft that gives the speed to a tape, it's that dark shaft just peaking out on top of the beige pressureroller. A recorder like this is as big as a jukebox and costed a million swiss franks and thats about $600.000,- This was in the 1980's.. today they are much cheaper..

Hey Ryan, Nice to see you do things in mm it's more accurate (Only my opinion!! Haha before i get half of the people here all over me! ;-)) But.... Take a look at vid on 7:54 min. you made yourself a lot of work.. Take out just the small part that is bad.. you also cut into the corners to far and also in the plate that is behind the piece you tried to take out.. You should also stay away from the door opening, if not very necessary! (Later on it will get you into trouble with the heat of welding.. all unnecessery!) Also if you take out a rotten piece, make the corners round you'll see that it's much easyer to weld a round corner than a 90 degree corner! (Use a big drill in corners) I did not see the whole video as i can't concentrate for a long time.. First blast the car to work on clean steal, then weld all corners and edges and stuff and then you can repair the bigger flat (read floor) pieces.. Maybe read a book on how to restore a car.. And the last thing i wanted to say.. you have to work much more precisely, again that part you took out of the dogleg, it's a biggy.. As the standing steel plate inside is completely rusted away you might think about it to take it completely out.. the dogleg.. But get it blasted clean first... i see a lot..lot...lot of work here.. (Ive done that myself once.. my car you can lift it on the doglegs (as it supposed to) it's strong inthere..)

The blue 510
Does anyone know what the 3 green one red and one yellow dot on the tires mean? As i sometimes put tires on..(in the past just few times) i know/think? the red dot is the light spot of the tire and should be placed near the ... what you call it.. the tire valve? (Learning lots of english here!!! đ ) I'm particular interested in the green one's as there are 3 !! of them on 1 tire.. Yellow is the heaviest spot of the tire? (as it is exactly opposite the red spot.)

Odd cylinder liner factoid. I didn't know.
My June 1986 book about L20-L24-L26-L28 engines service manual says ( On page EM-11) if the cylinder has worn be-yond the wear limit use cylinder liner. (So it works for any L20 L24 L26 or L28 !) Interference fit of cylinder liner in cylinder should be 0,08-0,09 mm (So i guess they get in with force and a heated block and frosen cylinderliners.. or what? They don't elaborate..

Cut open and reweld fuel tank?
Please be careful with welding a tank.. ive done that but i filled it with coolant.. so it does not explode in your face.. Others have done it by blowing constant air into the tank then also there is no danger...they say.. Top tip? : I would make a small hole in the top of the tank and take the dent out with a piece of wood from the other (later on) invisable side of the tank! đ

He must have had that car for at least 2 weeks.. đ ... I never have heard he had one.. (But as i am a real hater of soccer.. (we call it: dat stomme voetbal!) really allergic... I don't know what cars Johan drove.. i know that he had a citroĂ«n SM after the 240z.. what a disappointment that must have been...pffff...)

Hand throttle
Later on in the production they where left out.. with good reason, if not very good maintained, they are a big danger, thats why you never see them (yeaah yeah.. only in collectors cars.. and they are dangerous in my opinion... but thats just my opinion!!)

- Sabine schmitz died, only 51 years old after battle with cancer
March - 16th 2021 is a sad day, Sabine has died at the age of 51.. Queen of the Nurburgring died after a long battle with cancer.. Top Gear - Sabine Schmitz Tribute - YouTube- 1980 280ZX 10 anniversary car, red black
These cars are on the rise, as s30 cars (240/260z) are getting expensive. A good to restore car can cost 5-10 and a restored is starting at 30 grand i think? But it is very difficut to value them as they are much more complicated cars as the simple 240z.. (only the electrics are a 3 fold of the s30 car..) I got in my lifetime 2 280zx t-bars and... i don't want them.. why.. the t-bar makes the car much to flexible! I restored (ON HERE) a 280zx slick roof and they are much firmer. Al my cars were 2+2's as i don't fit with my 6 foot 4 in a 2 seater.. (seats are much different and to high.. i hit my head) Also get pics of the beams under the car, most of them have been molested on a 2 column lift.. A good chassis can be lifted with it on the 4 spots were you normally put your scissorjack, if thats not possible you better stay away from that car! (The inside layer in the outer beams.. (you call it the doglegs??) who are made of tripple sheet of steel are rusted away... you can't see them. (only with a endoscopecamera, there are holes in the inner sheet of steel behind the upholstery..)- Value 1979 280zx
Hi, Have you sold the car yet? These cars are now fetching higher prices i think as the 240z/s30 cars become to expensive for more and more z fans.. I bought one years ago, they went here in europe for a few grand and then they need a lot of restoring. I now have a 280zx slick roof (a story about this resto is on here..) and if you bid me 30 grand for the car i have to decline.. đ” The ZXR was a zx with a spoiler on the rear, yours can be one but you have to find that out.. Carl beck could have a list of these 1009 zxr's chassisnumbers.. i know mine was just 1 digit off of a ZXR.. zxr's were always 2 seaters, personally i can't fit in those, thats why i got a 2+2 280zx.- Roseville CA New Member / Owner
HĂ© welcome here, you have a very nice car there! One question i got.. Why is the 5'th button, preselect button on your radio green? Never seen that (NOT that i've seen it all hey !!! đ) ? Have you found your oil leak? I have a 240z i fixed up in 2000 and never leaked oil, i think it's very possible to have a 240z thats bone dry under it..- 240z values - 4 speed vs 5 speed
Hi, Your welcome! I believe i had the US 4 speed diff so something like 3,7:1 ?? (Maybe i had a 3,5 in i don't know.. i now have the 3,9 in it i believe.. (I am sure that it was the original Dutch car diff that came with the Fs5C71b transmission.) Personally i never have heard of a 3,364? Thats a low one! I only knew the 1:3,5 1:3,7 1: 3,9 and 1:4,11- unidentified 240Z part
something for strengthening the center console? It seems to have metric threads in it.. or.. something thats behind the card-read light.. or.. The round edge suggests it keeping something flat ( upholstery ) on it's place..?? - Sabine schmitz died, only 51 years old after battle with cancer
