ZCON 2018 Roll Call
I don't think it matters too much as long as you brown bag it and besides, we'll still call it a coke anyway no matter what it is. But just to be safe, the local police have been alerted as to your intentions. ?

Advice on this 1980 on CL
The spare tire well on a ZX is on the passenger side behind the panel. Unlike the S30, the spare tire is stored vertically and water can collect at the bottom. You wouldn't see it unless you removed the spare tire. I swiped these images from google...

Advice on this 1980 on CL
A $1,400 difference between a clean body/paint/interior and a heavenly modded one with questionable issues is a no brainer for me. You couldn't paint the black one for anything near that difference, not to mention the flare issues and tail lights, even if you did it yourself. If the Silver guy says no to 4K, I'd try 4500. You would still come out ahead in the long run. My other 2 cents....

Advice on this 1980 on CL
Personally, the ZX stance has always bothered me the most, particularly in the 79 and 80 models for some unknown reason. Maybe with some wider wheels and tires it might be more appealing in my world. Anyway, the point is that this car is kinda partway there as to that modification and some others if that was on your wish/to do list. You know, if you were to "make it your own" kind of thing like that owner has done. AC conversion is a big plus. Door panels and stereo look like an upgrade. It's hard to tell the paint quality from the pictures. There is no easy/inexpensive going back to original tail lights and the fuzzy dash would be a no bueno IMO, but that is cosmetic. I would do a hard look for rust even though the owner says different. All the usual places plus the spare tire area. No engine pics makes me curious. There are worse ZX's out there and the price is good, but if you preferred a un-modded daily car they are in that price range also and turn up CL and even FB marketplace fairly often. You would just need to search a little longer. My two cents......

Manifold gasket?
This is the Nissan gasket I put on my N7 head with round ports. I've been happy with it and it's held up just fine for almost 3 year now.

resurrecting a 1977 280Z
Punch Bowl for gasoline = 1 pissed off wife. ? Another vote for the CLR method that Whee introduced. I've got a tank soaking with about 3 gallons of vinegar right now. A very slow method but very economical and not as harsh as Muratic Acid. Seems to be working but my patience is wearing out.

Love how you used aluminum foil to protect from overspray. I'll have to add that to my bag of tricks!- Hardway's Red Rocket 1972 240z Build Thread
I agree. After all, it's an engine bay and it's going to get dirty again if you intend this car to be a driver . It's what I did with mine. Pull everything off one side at a time, do some selective taping, spray it, then re-assemble and move on the the next side. If you want you can also apply a clear coat. Just make sure it's compatible with the paint, ie; enamel or base. It doesn't have to be perfect, the engine is the main attraction when the hood is open IMO.- Roll Pan: new or used?
I need some education, but what is a "roll pan" and where is it located on a Z? Are you referring to the rear valance?- saturday night music thread
He's not the greatest singer either, but I still listen to him?- New member, long time lurker
I'm thinking we need to do a DNA test, you might be related to me and I sure could use another Z to keep my current one company...?. Just kidding, Welcome to the light! You probably know that we love pictures and provide opinions/advice.- saturday night music thread
