Electric fan or new fan clutch/shroud for my 240z?
Ok as i said before my car has a champion 3 row radiator with 16lbs rad cap and original 1972 datsun plastic fan cluch with msa shroud. It also has the phenolic spacers between the SU rounded 3 screws and additional heat shield. How come some users here have tackled this heat problem without spending more than 500usd in electric fans, shroud , thermoswitch and alternator?

Focus on a way to remove that heat from the carburetors.

Not at all site. I thought one of the valve seals was broken and changed both of them. Problem had nothing to do with the engine. Problem arises when car starts misfiring after long stop and go traffic. Too much heat in the manifold.

Electric fan or new fan clutch/shroud for my 240z?
Car has a 160 degree thermostat, original plastic blade fan clutch and champion 3 row radiator. Still struggling with percolation during stop and go traffic in Panama. I have been advised to install electric fans with thermoswitch to tackle this. Will this be the final and concrete solution to my problem?

Heat shield above MSA coated header
Can you point out what is your suggestion? My thermostat is rated 160 degrees so it should keep the car cool during stop and go traffic situations. I took this recent pictures for your reference.

Yes the heater core was removed. Too hot in Panama. Asides the Gen 2 Mini ac system neede space inside the dashboard. What do you recommend?

Heat shield above MSA coated header
Well i do remember shutting the water flow passage that runs on the back of both carbs by removing the intake manifold valve to reduce any kind of heat. My car also has the antibackfire / smog emmission system removed. Any recommendations on how to tackle this misfire caused by overheat when coming out from traffic jams?

Some mechanic over here told me i should consider investing in ceramic coated header? Will this help?

Heat shield above MSA coated header
I got rid of the pop pop pop today by tuning the carbs to 4 turns clockwise both and rpm set to 1000. Now i need to knock down the heat that makes my car stumble snd misfire after 5 to 10 mins stuck in traffic. Any recommendations other than removing the fan clutch and installing dual electric fans?

Asides from that the engine still pops while decelerating at second and 3rd gear. I have no vacuumn leaks. Pop pop pop pop.....

I have not drove this way. I did open the hood with the engine idling while parked. Temperature lower a little bit. But its not the same stop and go traffic vs parked at idle. More heat is generated while acceletating and stopping in 10 to 15 mins traffic jams

Cannot get rid of this heat in my 1972 240z with twin su roundtop carbs? Car still misfires after 5 to 10 minutes in stop and go traffic. I thought i had a problem in the engine and the problem is clearly heat. Any advice on how to tackle this?

Random Misfire while cruising
Ok after taking the car for a ride and adjusting the fuel mixture to 3.65 turns front and rear carb at 1000 rpm, the car ran pretty well but presented the following issues: 1. Backfire at exhaust when releasing gas pedal at 2nd and 3rd gear. Pops, pops.... 2. Car started stumbling after staying parked on idle for 10 minutes. Could be due to some problems with vapor lock we had discussed in the past and never solved. I guess ill have to live with this problems and only use the car on weekends to avoid traffic jams during weekdays. Spark plug 1 2 3 4 5 6

Random Misfire while cruising
Tuned both carbs at 1000 rpm, balanced them and adjusted fuel mixture knob at 3.5 turns clockwise. Ill take a drive to see if i need to open them more.

Well i did balanced both of the carbs with a synchometer and turning the right screw at the linkage. I can try again tomorrow- Random Misfire while cruising
From the top lowering the jet to allow more fuel.- Random Misfire while cruising
Then why the backfire when releasing the gas pedal if its leaner?- Random Misfire while cruising
Checked on the mixture knobs of both 3 screws round SU CARBS and they had 4 turns clockwise each. I checked on the balance to verify both open at the same time and lowered the mixture knobs to 3.5 turns each. Now the car has less power and started popping / backfire in the exhaust when releasing the gas pedal. I believe it should not backfire has the mixture is leaner. Any thoughts? - Random Misfire while cruising
