I can dig everything but the nose. The flares, wheels, tires, and rear spoiler are awesome. Just never have really liked the G-nose. It is a beautiful car tho.

I remember 13, I didn't have an IQ eitherROFL . The damn machines are getting smarter than us, this can't be good.

Thats along the same lines I'm thinking . Gonna go and drive it a week from Monday when I get back from Ga. One more question. I have found that the production numbers for the BPE with the SAP were around 1200 for the year. Maybe as low as 850ish. Now the question, would the addition of the factory 5spd make that even more limited in production, or were they all equipped with the extra cog?

OK, I talked to him on the phone tonight. Very nice guy. Turns out, he has most of the service receipts from the original owner. He will be getting those out and seeing if the mileage can be verified. He thinks he also has the original window sticker. I asked him directly about rust again. He says that there is none on the car that he is aware of. He also stated that a potential buyer had come to look at it, and smoked it over pretty good. He was unable to find any rust on the car at all. This is actually looking better and better the more I talk with him. Shame I will be going out of town next week. Gonna have to wait till almost New Years to go and look at the car. Interesting side note. I researched the Black Pearl Edition this evening. Found out that the decals were part of the "Sport Appearance Package" (of course, you guys already knew that). Reminds me of the current Ricers that ad stickers thinking they equal more horsepower.:stupid: . Oh yeah, almost forgot. Found a link to a guy that makes reproduction stripes for the car. Might be good to know if I have to put any new paint on the car. If anyone is interested I'll post the link.

You can also dye the white stuff black if that is your taste. My '72 had white interior pieces. It was OK, but I really like the black. The seats stayed dirty looking for the whole time I owned the car.

Welp, I just got another Email from him. He responded to the mileage issue with a resounding--I have no way to verify the mileage other that the condition would dictate that it is not 153,000. So I will be going on pure assumption on the mileage. I had also asked him about services. He has had the car for about 3 years and just drives it once a week or so. Therefore the services could not be done per mileage, but by time. He was confused about the question and asked if he needed to change fluids more often when not driven daily. Gonna have to get that point clear. Hope that he doesn't have the original fill in the crankcase from 3 years ago:ermm: . As far as the collector aspect goes. I would keep it pretty much as it is now. I don't have much interest in changing the formula of a Z, just enjoying it. And, I would keep the mileage down too, so that would not be a problem.

daddz, ask and ye shall receive. Here is your picture of the louvers. And, yes, CCTOL is where I saw the car. Thanks for the imput on the authenticity of the mileage claim.

Thanks for the pointers. Its been for sale for at least 3 weeks now. Will be talking to him more as the weekend gets close. Still gotta figure out if the milage is accurate. So far, the only turn off of the car is the prodigious decal package on the car. Haven't seen so much vinyl on a car unless it was a fully marked police carLOL . Hmm, might be right up my alley then.

Yeah, the carpets are a bit faded. I am under the impression they are original. Louvers have been added at one time or another to curtail some of the fading. As far as the dent in the rocker goes. This is how he explained it too me. It don't sound bad at all. "There is only one very small problem, the previous owner placed the car jack in the wrong place and on the underside of the car he slightly bent a piece of the lower body quarterpanel (on the drivers side behind the front wheel). It is not even noticeable without looking under the car..." Don't read out loud as you will get out of breath. I am tempted to consider it, but the electrics on a FI Z give me the willys. I like simplicity. attached is the back carpet.

The wheels are off of a '82 ZX and are not original. The antenna is also not original. The rest is, so I hear. Engine shot and finished

OK, I was just farting around looking for some more Z's for sale, and came upon a 1978 280Z that is "apparently" an original Black pearl edition. Color code is 638. It also has the 5spd tranny. The owner has had it for 3 years, as the second owner. Supposedly it has been garaged all its life, and only drive on sunny days (by a little old ladyLOL ). Never been wrecked, with no body work. Everything is original, and no cracks on the dash. Only problem stated is a dent in the (sounds like) driver's side rocker panel from an errant jack. He is selling the car so he can buy a motorcycle. Asking price is $10,000. Oh and he says it has 53,000 miles on it, no proof yet. I'll post some pictures. What do you guys think? Is the car possibly worth the money since it is a late 280Z and not a more collectible early 240Z? Does anyone know this car (resides in Apex NC)? All opinions and suggestions welcome.

Somebody will buy that thing thinking the body has been stripped and it is ready to be painted. All parts are present for the rebuild, they just have become a molten soup in the floorboards. But then again, that is rustproofing.

I've seen quite a few '73's that have the early (lighter) bumpers installed. I think it just requires a little fab work on the mounting points. If that is the case, then the you could put the same bumper on the early 260, I would think.
  18. That thing has gone so fast that none of the body panels even line up anymore. The gas lid is missing....I could go on and on and on. Not sure if that car would even make a good parts car. Most of the parts on it are APC seconds.
  19. Please tell me you took pictures of the area of the accident. That will show in the snow whether or not you were doing anything stupid on that road. The one thing you have working against you, is you were actually down on that road for that very purpose. If you had pics of the tracks going in a straight line until you had to avoid her, your story would hold true.
  20. Agreed. If your story is correct in that she was headed straight for you and you had to swerve to miss her, then it would be her fault. According to your side of the story the accident was all her fault, and quite possibly Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Your insurance should not be involved with paying anything. If I were investigating that wreck I would prolly charge her with careless and reckless driving (again based on your side). What were the findings of the investigating officer? Feel free to PM me if you wish. Something don't sit right with the insurance thing.

St. Stephen, good for you for questioning this. It would ring a little, uh, quirky to me too. Request to mods. Lets make this thread a sticky in the for sale section. It is a good read for everyone, and since it has the links for the gov agencies and prior threads, this is the best on to sticky. Thanks.

Well........uhhhhh.........hmmmmmm My '72 had originals on it and it worked just fine. That was 10 years ago. Been looking for a couple of years to find another one. Will keep it stock in the front also. However, my Tacoma does have Toyota 4x4 calipersROFL
  24. Smokey posted a post in a topic in Wheels & Brakes
I would only be guessing as I have not done it so best bet is to use the search function. Try looking for "Toyota Calipers" or "4x4 calipers". That will give you some places to look.

Hey 2Many, I thought the quarters were no longer available. I know you can still get the lower rear and the dogleg (for rust repair) from suppliers. Just clarify on the entire quarter panel for me please.
