Given the recent uproar and whining about 'off-topic' pictures, I figured I would check what kind of interest, if any, there is for more pictures of this red Toyota 2000GT a museum I just visited had.

I've had days like that. A few months ago I went to visit my parents and some friends in Dallas for the weekend, it's about a 3.5hr drive up i-35. On Sunday one of my friends in Dallas wanted to go have lunch and she said she was going to drive out from about 10 miles away or so. She ended up taking forever as women commonly do (there goes your broad generalization for the day) and showed up about an hour and a half after she said she planned to. Now generally this wouldn't be a big deal, but it was 4PM sunday afternoon, and I had class at 9am the next morning 200 miles away. I hit up weather.com while I was waiting and saw that we had a huge stormfront moving in on Dallas from the north with lots of rain. So as she pulled up and I said hello etc, it started to sprinkle a little bit. I had just spent about 4 hours that morning washing and putting on a fresh base coat of klasse and all that, so I started to freak out. I remembered from seeing weather.com that it APPEARED to be totally clear to the south all the way to Austin. So I basically chatted with her for a few minutes then said I had to go (she understood why, but yeah, in retrospect im an asshole for that one). I hopped in my car and managed to get out of dallas without driving through any real rain, just a few water spots on the windshield that and on the body which promptly rolled off due to the klasse. All was going well, and as I was getting closer to Austin I saw a single mass of dark clouds on the horizon. I thought to myself "No way could that possibly be centered over I-35 in front of me." I was wrong. It was about 10 miles north of the travis county line. That was by far the most localized and intense thunderstorm system I have ever experienced in Texas. I suppose it all comes down to karma in that situation. That is, if you believe in that sort of thing. As a side note, klasse is really great stuff. The car was still really shiny by the time I got home, and was good as new after a little touchup.

Yeah because the United States is clearly the only country on earth capable of making decent roadways.
  6. That reminds me, I have learned of a nearby (~80mi away) museum out in the middle of nowhere that has a red Toyota 2000GT. I am planning on going out after final exams are over and taking a bunch of pictures. I'll be sure to upload them here

I have never used the wipers except when the inspection guy asks me to turn them on every year. I always keep a fresh coat of rain-x on, works out great. I find it needs refreshing after a heavy downpour though or it doesn't seem to work as well the next time around.

Yeah, engine displacement and market (i.e. Australia's '260z' versus the DM 'Fairlady Z' versus the United States' '280z') fall under "for one reason or another"

I think americans get too hung up on what we call the "280z" being unique -- It's just a name. They still sold Z-cars during those years in other markets, just badged differently for one reason or another.

I thought it was duct tape and WD-40

    1) On F1 cars I believe they are all so high profile because the FIA regulations restrict the wheel size so they can limit the brake size? Someone correct me if I am wrong on this.

This sets quite a cowardly precedent for the classiczcars.com forums. I suggest we all commence making false accounts to post inflammatory messages. Henceforth all arguments will be taken up by people who appear to be forum foreigners. (sarcasm, I know most people here aren't that spineless)

I agree with Michael, everyone else partaking in this thread has had the guts to at least post their opinion using their regular name.

Like Ed said, there's nothing to it more than a rack and pinion setup You'll get used to, so don't worry.
  15. I wonder who this anonymous "instigator" poster is? Are you a regular afraid to post under your regular name?

I was just about to post some of my complaints, but they have been pretty much covered already. All I can say is, thank goodness it wasn't Monster Garage. I don't know if I can stand to watch them ruin that Honey Bee this month.
  17. It was a pretty sad spectacle(can you say "Freedom Fries?") a year or two ago when hating europe (mainly France) was the "in" thing for "patriotic" Americans. Over what? An opinion. They are a different country with different interests that they will try to look out for, but I guess the self-righteous will always need everyone to agree completely with their opinion.

Yes Panchovisa, we have done some very "interesting" things with our foreign policy over the years.... what is even more intriguing is the things that everyone "forgets" about.

This is true, when you only have X amount of money saved up for the semester, donations really go below feeding yourself and paying the bills.

I think you need a reality check about modern universities in the United States. I go to the University of Texas, and anyone who has been here will tell you this is by far one of the most liberal colleges in the south. The college republicans, and tons of other conservative student organizations still operate here just like all the liberal ones. Sure, many of the conservative ones are outnumbered by their liberal counterparts, but they are by no means forbidden to hold gatherings and preach their beliefs just like everyone else. I have had a lot of left-wing professors, but I respect their opinions as much as I have my conservative ones. Why? Because I am not bothered by ideas I do not agree with. Your hatred for homosexuals, atheists, and pro-choice supporters is a whole other topic, so I will avoid hitting on that further. It should be noted that not all universities are full of "far left faculity assholes." All the other large universities that I can think of in Texas would fall into the conservative column. Young people will have an opinion on politics (some will anyway) and their interests are obviously a lot different than people nearing retirement. As such, they may wish to throw their support behind a different candidate than you. That does not mean their minds are all full of garbage. 280z's post was obviously out of hand as far as the swearing goes : that is almost never a good way to get your point across. He is right however in that it is often far too easy for us to forget over here in the USA what our foreign policy causes elsewhere. I voted for Kerry, not because I liked him as a candidate, but because I disliked Bush more. The way I see it, if I have to walk past a group of christian fundamentalists at the edge of campus (every week) preaching gospel and getting in my face to tell me I am going to burn in the firey pits of hell for all eternity for not being christian, then I think it is only fair that pro-choice, atheist, and homosexuals be able to express their constitutional rights as well.
  21. There is a place in Plano called Plano Auto Supply. They have a machine shop in the back that I used for having the cam towers aligned before. They were recommended by some people on the zcar.com archives, which is why I used them You could probably find them in the yellow pages or something

Wow, i'm always shocked to see cars like that being parked out in the open as a daily driver.
  25. I tried taking some pics but I forgot to bring my tripod when I moved down, so long exposure pics are out of the question.
