curious..
I'm not sure I understand your question. Nissan, like every other manufacturer, changes colors on new models often. If you're asking about paint suppliers I don't know that Nissan has ever sold paint - except for maybe touch-up paint.

Door weather seals, OEM ???
I'm also just guessing but I think that the OEM seals are probably the improved versions that came with the 280Z. It's not uncommon for a Nissan part to supersede another part. I know that the aftermarket kit from Precision is actually a 280Z kit and there are a couple of pieces in the kit that aren't used on a 240Z. The door seals seem to be those that cause people the most problems. Some suggest that the OEM seals are much better for the doors because they're made out of a softer rubber that compresses better.

locked out........
Sure you can ... ... what's wrong with you? Our cars don't have frames ... they are unibody. Just kidding. I've heard that the magnetic key holders have a tendency to fall off and that thieves know all about them.

locked out........
It's true that newer keys have a chip in them (actually a high precision resistor). However, as far as I know that style of key only matters in the ignition, not the doors. If all you've done is lock your keys in your car then any old spare will do. Alternatively you could get a car with OnStar which has the ability to remotely unlock your car for you - as long as there's cell phone coverage. Finally, there's BlondeStar: http://www.smartelic.com/

Most authentic reuphostery kits?
I got the standard vinyl covers from Too Intense. They are very close to original but not exact. The vinyl grain, the seams near the headrest, and the metal vent holes are all slightly different. They do offer many different color choices and since I was interested in changing my entire interior color they were the best option for me as I also got a matching full carpet set and headliner. If I haven't thrown out my original torn up seat covers I can probably take some photos showing the differences if you're interested.

How to test a flasher?
The lugs on my flasher are at right angles as well but it doesn't matter. It doesn't plug into a socket; there are just two wires with female space connectors that attach to the flasher itself.

Replacing Rear Quarter Shortly
While I've never attempting anything close to this I'd be curious about what you'll need to do to protect the fuel vent hoses and expansion tank from the welding process. I'm guessing you'll need to remove everything fuel-related first.

Perhaps some of those cars should be taken back to the factory for a visit. After all, they haven't been there in 30+ years.

free 280z... has no title =(
I can't really answer your first question (about transferring the interior pieces between models) but you can use SEM brand vinyl/plastic dye to change the color. It's even possible to dye to a lighter color. I used it on my entire interior (door panels, plastic hatch trim pieces, and vinyl window pillar covering). You can see a bit of the door panel here and window pillars here: http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=11942&cat=500&page=1

possible wet cap!
That sounds more like a fuel-related problem to me. Not enough pressure?

Way of the Future?
The easiest way to produce hydrogen is by splitting water molecules using electrolysis. This consumes a lot of electricity which typically comes from burning hydrocarbons. I agree, cheap solar (photo-voltaic) cells would go a long way to solving the problem. However, with basically free electricity from the sun we might as well convert over to pure electric and eliminate the extra step of producing hydrogen. The problem there, of course, is battery capacity and life. Another problem with hydrogen right now is the missing infrastructure to sell it. That's why hybrid cars are doing so well since the petroleum infrastructure is in place. The electric infrastructure is also already in place. My personal opinion is that the eventual solution will be pure electric with standard replaceable battery packs. You charge your car overnight at home. For long road trips, you pull into a battery station and swap your depleted battery for one that's already charged up and ready to go.

Removing Paint Overspray
I'm afraid you misread what I wrote. No, I've never used it. Would you recommend it to someone who's looking for a paint remover that won't harm plastic?

Removing Paint Overspray
Brasso is very mild. Toothpaste is also slightly abrasive but can be used to clean and polish things besides your teeth. I recall that I used brasso to clean up the clear plastic that covers my instruments when I had them out of my dash. I agree that if it does do an damage you could polish it back out. I've got a spare turn signal lens at home and would be happy to spray it a bit with paint and then test the various suggestions.

help ID car
Same here. When I got to high school and started thinking about a car I considered a 914, a Fiat X1/9, and an Opel GT. I'm sure glad I got a 240Z instead. Edit: I suppose this is still appropriate but I didn't realize I was quoting a post that's a couple of years old. Sorry.

I Need Help making Wood block for adjusting timing chain stretch!
It's funny how the so called tools are all so different. The fact is you just need something that will wedge in tight enough to keep the tensioner from popping out. I'm a little skeptical of the hose idea but I've even seen a big screwdriver used - on the ZTherapy video. I really don't think the dimensions and/or angles are critical; just jam it in good.
