Replace Floorpans
Well after finally retiring, having both my knees replaced, I am back on my 72 Z. Got the welder out and brushed up on my welding and now ready to start on the floorpans. One question is the floorpan bracers/stiffeners. Do I weld them to the pans before installing the pans? My car is on jacks so getting clear access to weld them on after the pans are in place. Thanks, as things progress I am sure I will have more questions. Jimmy Elmore Charleston, SC

Right Size for an Air Compressor
I found two compressors at Lowes today, both are by Kobalt. Both are 220 volt and they are oil lubricated. The larger is 7HP 60Gallon 13.3 SCFM@90 PSI and the price is $499.00. The smaller is 6HP(?) 45Gallon 11.? SCFM@90PSI and the price is $399.00. I'm thinking that I am goping to go for the bigger. The extra $100.00 is only a question at the time of purchase and by the time I start using it for all the body work etc. I am going to be glad for the extra capacity. Jimmy

Right Size for an Air Compressor
Need some help. As you know I have been working on my floorpans, etc. I went out and bought an air saw and a cut off tool. I have a 2 HP 12 Gallon Air Compressor. Neither tool is cutting the metal. Not sure if it is a problem with the Air Compressor or what. I have tried to adjust the tools and that doesn't help the cutting. Someone said I need a larger air compressor. Can anyone give me their lessons learned on the right size for an air compressor? Thanks, Jimmy

Working on Floor Pans
I am continuing my floor pan replacement project. I have cut out the old floor pans. As you can see, the rust was really quite bad. After cutting out the old floor pans I started trying to figure out how to get the pans to fit. I think I am in for quite a job. Looking forward, the front section is also quite bad. I bought some sheet steel from a local supply company to cut out the patch panels for the other portions. Any thoughts comments or guidance is welcome.

Floor pan replacement
you can see just how much more I still have to do. Fitting Charlie's pans into this mess is going to be interesting.

how much did you pay for you're Z?
I bought mine about 4 years ago for $1000.00 from a friend of my son. I drove it home and then started looking and realized that there was alot more than I realized. I am now in the process of starting to fix the "rust" issue.

Rusted out floor pans more news
Well I just finished removing the prior fix to the floor pans on the passenger side. and you guessed it, it was worse than the drivers side. Take a look at the pictures. I have received my floor pans and seat brackets from Charlie. Getting all excited about installing them. But looking at the "fire wall" area, How am I going to "fix" that area? Any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated.

Rusted out floor pans
I have finally gotten around to fixing the floor pans in my 72 240Z. After pulling the seats, etc. I couldn't believe just how bad bad was. So now I need some help. I had planned on getting the replacement floor pans for Charlie Osborne at Zedd Findings. I looked at these floor pans and I released that they don't have the cross piece for the front seat mountin points and they don't seem to have the back seat mounting points. So I guess what I am asking is for any comments you may have on replacing floor pans, where did you get the pans and what leasons learned you could share with me.

Hesitation
When I start my 72 240Z, it takes quite awhile for the engine to warm up. It hesitates real bad and actually pops after it starts to speed up. What could the problem be? Put some carb cleaner in the gas tank and some water treatment. Any other ideas?

Multi Switch
I have been trying to get the windshield wipers working. After taking the steering column cover off, the headlights didn't work. Moved the wires around and the headlights came on. I checked the voltage on the wires coming from the switch to the wiper motor and I am getting 12+ volts between the black ground and the blue/red. But nothing on any others. Then I checked the voltage to the windshield washer motor and got no voltage there. Does this mean my problem is the switch? Does anyone know what the voltages should be?
