This is a good question. I am not sure if the grille is for a 240z or a later Z. Some of the tabs do not mount to the grille. What are the actual differences between the Z grille's?

Thanks for the reply. I didn't think of using later year FSM's, good idea!! I am talking about the actual cable clamp, that screws onto the frame so the outer cable does not move. I am not sure what tool I can use to bend that back to hold the actual cable in place. What's happening is, I pull on the hood lock handle, and it doesn't unlock the hood lock. The whole cable is being moved, instead of the inner silver cable that does the actual pulling.

I am having issues lining up the hood. The hood does not reach the lock on the firewall and my hood cable came off the hook that holds it to the frame. When I try and close the hood even though it's not locked and flush, the front of it is raised and not flush with the buckets. Things that I did: 1. raised the hood adjustment at the hood. 2. tried adjusting the lock on the frame. 3. tried adjusting the hook on the hood. Also how do I crimp the hood cable bracket on to the cable? Thanks
  4. So moving on from the carbs to the doors. while it doesn't look too complicated I am having issues. The passenger door isn't catching at all, by this I mean the door won't even shut. I tried adjusting the striker on the b pillar but no success. The drivers side door closes beautifully but does not open from the outside but does from the inside. Also can we use later year nylon locks for all the rods? Thanks!

Looking for a original radio. I have no clue where mine is. Thanks!
  8. Thanks guys!
  9. maybe this: FEL-PRO/10 X 26 X 1/32 IN. RUBBER AND FIBER GASKET MATERIAL ...
  10. I don't doubt that, if it's the needle and seat then i'll call up Bruce. Ya, the body is a little dirty. I'll go over it with a tooth brush, carb cleaner and a clean rag. When you place the RTV do you place it on the lid or on the bowl? no problem and thanks!
  11. Makes sense. I believe the SU DVD used a vacuum tool to check if the needle and seat were good.
  12. That's a good idea, I was having an issue with that gasket. It got soaked with fuel and very difficult to line up. Thanks!
  13. Ok, i'll try it. They are brand new but i'll try it anyway.

would it be possible for someone to take photos of the grille tabs on the front end of the body. I can't seem to get the grille installed properly. Thanks!
  15. Here are the pics of the alignment tabs.
  16. I hope so...
  17. Thanks, if it's not one issue it's another.
  18. From the vent after few minutes of running. Also with a slight tap on the fuel bowl it stops.
  19. So good news and bad news. Good news is, I replaced both needles on the original pots and now both are working properly. Bad news is my rear carb keeps leaking. My plugs are extremely fouled so I'll be changing those out. Should I separate the float bowl from the carb body and then retry the float setup?
  20. Those look beautiful. Alot of experience on this board, which I am very grateful for. This is my first vintage vehicle i'm working on lol. Been dealing on modern vehicles my whole life. Carbs are a total new experience for me! At work all I hear i is, "I remember when I used to work on those!".
  21. Thanks. I will take some photos on Sunday. I haven't actually seen the bottom of the carbs as they are installed. The nozzle goes up and down into a bronze tube. I'm not sure either. Honestly I don't think it's from dropping it and was probably an issue from before I even purchased the car. This was another owners project that I took on so I am not sure if the carbs were rebuilt thoroughly. I agree on being frugal, I have two projects and do not like spending money if I have to, unfortunately this is something I don't think I could avoid as I really do not want to remove those alignment tabs until I have tried all avenues.
  22. which reminds me, I have to watch the SU DVD in it's entirety. This is true. Hopefully the replacement parts work.
  23. Thanks! Yes, I have those. It was suggested before to remove those alignment tabs. I would prefer not to do this until I am out of choices. Were you also having sticking issue with the piston and damper?
  24. So, I ran the car with no screws attaching the pots. Car runs beautifully. I have a pot and piston on order. This should solve the trick. fingers crossed.
  25. Here is pics of the rear float and new needle and seat.
