  1. I have a clear fuel filter as well, with the exact specifications of the original white one. The fuel level stays halfway in the filter too. Not sure why, the car runs great and hasn't been a problem since I installed it a year ago. Chase
  2. I got the KIA seals for $6 at PicknPull.

It would make a great parts truck. Just about any truck you will find is going to need most, if not all those parts laying on the hood. I'd like to have it for parts to my truck, but not for 600. Chase
  4. Hmmmm, I'd like to keep the antenna manual and wired to the switch in my console.
  5. Like many Zs, my 72 has had the antenna mast snapped off long ago. I am interested in buying one, but it would kill me to spend $200 plus on an original mast or a whole assembly. Since my motor still works I'd really like to get only the mast, however this ad for an entire setup looks very convincing. To someone who has already done this, would it be easier to buy the whole thing or find a mast that would work? How close does this ad look to an original antenna? I'd like it to look as original as possible. Thanks! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Power-Antenna-Kit-1970-thru-1973-Datsun-240z-/170795128473?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3A240Z&hash=item27c42ed699&vxp=mtr Chase
  6. One of my favorite things about the color:D Chase
  7. I watched this car when it got on Craigslist, very nice looking. You are correct on the color of the car 112 paint code, often called "Lime." Good luck with the car it looks like an overall solid base to work with. Chase

For my 72 Z I went ahead and built my exhaust system from the down pipe back. My father works at a dealership and when they bring in new wrecked Acuras, they discard complete exhaust systems that have damage. I'll cut the good parts and bring them home with me. They're aluminized steel and won't rust too. So other than the Magnaflow muffler on the back I was able to build it at no cost to me. The performance muffler sounds amazing, doesn't drone, is great at highway speeds, and I can listen to the radio So if you don't like the sound of the Dynomax, I can give you the Magnaflow part #. 9. I can't help getting attention in the Z, especially since it's bright green. I love little kids reactions when they see it, they"ll point and say, "Check out that Lamborghini!" apparently only Lambos are bright green. Where I live the ricers thrive after dark. It's always fun to see they're reactions as they pass in rattle-canned black Civics and Acuras. Chase
  10. My 72 is almost identical to this one, same color, and has the vertical defrosters as well. It's nice to see how much one like this goes for on eBay. Chase

Looks like a very nice Z, shouldn't be too difficult selling her if you decide to. Chase

Five&dime those models look great, what did you use for the spark plug wires on the 240z? Chase
  14. Stephen, Sorry about your Dad, hope he has a full recovery. Spring sounds like a great time to have the rally event next year. Chase

I think the beauty of the 914 is how cheap they are; they're just little VW beetles with Porsche badges on them. The 914 truly is the "poor man's Porsche." I drive mine to shows and events and it has always been a great dependable car. The only downside to them is the rust issues since most were not stored properly. The 914 is a different driving style, but I wouldn't say it wasn't as fun as a Z especially around a track. $5-600 for a fuel pump? Must of been made out of gold. Chase

This summer I came across a 1970 911T for sale that was still owned by the original owner. It was a beautiful unrestored car with a light shade of orange left on it. Unfortunately, it was out of my price range, so I went with a 914. They're wonderful cars to drive, a little awkward looking, and very similar to the 911 (only waaayy cheaper to keep). It's definitely a different driving style than the Z, especially when you use them, one right after the other. I see the 914s competing with 911s on autocross days a lot. Often they are better on the track because of the 50/50 weight distribution that the other Porsches don't have. Here's mine at a recent Cars & Coffee meet Chase

I like solid blues on these cars, especially gumball blue, which is similar to bhermes suggestion. You could always go with a BRE styled paint scheme, that always looks good on the Z. Chase
  18. I picked up a set of them as well last weekend, they went in easy and sealed tight. Plus They had a 50% off sale so they were dirt cheap! Chase
  19. I'm going to cancel this afternoon if its not going to work out. Keep us updated on a later date, maybe a spring time rally? Chase
  20. GreenZZZ, I can post pics of the blacked out sections of my car around the radiator tomorrow if that would be any help to you. Chase
  21. The radiator cross member of my car is the body color, and the car has never been repainted before. Chase
  22. Try pouring diesel fuel over the motor with the valve cover off, allow that to soak, and try to break it free. It's kinda an old school trick that's worked for me before. Chase

The little chrome cap that you can see pops off with some persuasion, just be careful not to let the switch fall, it's a pain to fish back out. After the cap is off you should be able to pull it out and unscrew the wire. Hope this helps Chase

Check the wiring to the door jams. Could be that that little switch is stuck and not completing the circuit. Chase

Good idea Healey, since I will be towing more than just the Z in the future, ill look into a tow dolly. Chase
