perhaps its from a 2+2 fairlady model. Anyone out there have a 2+2 fairlady? Some of their speedo's go up to 260 kph. Two of these are 240 kph. That rally clock isn't good without the oscillator. I'm hoping I got the oscillator in another batch of fairlady parts from the same guy. He had a bad photo of tons of parts but i expanded the photo and i think i saw the oscillator. The guy parting the 2 fairladys doesn't know anything about the cars. Its really a shame becuase the sheetmetal from the cars shows little rust. One was a zg model. I'm finding there are quite a few small variations in jdm parts over the years. Just like our series 1 and 2. Use what you got and build em fast frankensteins. its going to be a while before i can clean this stuff up and sell it. 6 months or more. This am radio is a strange variation. Its not signal seek like series 1 and the antenna switch is blocked off.

Just bought a grab basket of speedo's, tac's and clocks and the one speedo in the center looks different that the others. It only goes up to 180 kph. The others go up to 240 kph. Could it be from a very early fairlday?

holy crap a toyota 2000gt for 100k? Thats gotta be a typo. THATS A MILLION DOLLAR CAR. If its not a typo, beg, borrow STEAL the cash and buy it! edit: upon further inspection that looks like a bondo bucket and a 70's slide hammer dent puller botch job. Not worth 1 mil.. maybe 500k There are a couple for sale in the uk for cheaper prices than that one that sold for 1 mil at RM auctions not long ago. http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/list/99/2000gt/
  4. I say go for it. Kidney's are going for a nice price. You could also buy a nice 240z with the proceeds. http://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-sell-body-parts-for-profit-2012-3 http://io9.com/5896323/how-do-you-buy-organs-on-the-black-market

if you want to measure gas mileage using a cell phone app, there is one called gasmate that will do all the math for you. Yea its possible to get over 30 but you've gotta drive slow and accelerate slow and have a lot of flat terrain and a strong tail wind and no rain. i've been trying to get 50 mpg with my vw diesel. I've done everything possible from tweaking the computer to overinflating the tires. I've only achieved it once and let me tell you its not easy. You have to drive like a 100 year old. Hype-r-mile-ing really pisses off other drivers too my efi 78z gets about 20-24
  6. black dragon has new ones for 199. I got a new one for my 78 from them. Good quality chrome. 2 years so far and hasn't peeled. http://www.blackdragonauto.com/icatalog/zr/full.aspx?Page=20
  7. How do you get out of the car if you roll the car and it lands on the top? gullwing doors don't open when the car is sitting on them. :: slap a paint job on it and put it up for sale at the going prices. Looks to be around 17,000 usd.

At least 20k if you're piecing it together. Better to buy a complete one in a car. I saw a ratty skyline with an s20 for about 18,000 usd.

On yahoo jp auctions there is a s20 valve cover with 63 bids so far. Price is up to around 3000 usd. A used s20 cylinder head recently sold for 7600 usd. Thats over 10k just for the top end! Anyone good at casting replica aluminum valve covers? any on alibaba yet? http://page5.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e160912991

  11. I removed the drain plug. if yours is frozen and you can't get it out, you could try blowing the remaining water out by using compressed air. They may look good from the outside but mine were rotten from the inside. You could try sticking an ice pick into them to see if its about to rust thru if this is your daily driver. when these things go it empties the radiator fast. carry a couple litres of water in the car just in case.
  12. I just went down this path you're going. I replaced just 1 and soon after another one popped. It popped in a very inconvenient place too. Lesson learned: If 1 is bad the rest are not far behind. Also, after you replace them they may leak a little bit. Don't panic and rip them out again because sometimes it takes a few heat cycles to seal completely. The hardest ones to replace are on the intake manifold side. On my 280 I had to remove the intake manifold to get to them. If you're going to keep the car forever you might consider going with brass. Seeing that you're up in Alberta i'de see what everyone up there uses. Rumor has it that brass doesn't pop out in extreme cold. But thats internet folklore.
  13. Pay close attention to those roadside signs that say "Next gas 500 miles" edit: park your vehicles close to your motel room as possible so you can keep an eye on them. i always took out the coil wire overnight at motels in crummy towns.
  14. For those of you that think the 280z has battering ram bumpers, take a look at those behemoths. Does this one have the amc 360 or the 351 windsor? Definately a more powerful car than the delorean and the body is fiberglass so no rust. Those tail lites look like 280z tail lites. Not a bad looking car for 3k. That one may be an ex-police car from arizona. edit: do NOT mix beer with ebay.

Just for the record it does fit the later version of the calendar clock. To be more precise, it fits the niles calendar clock. Screw fit perfectly too. And yes you are correct about it not fitting the earlier calendar clock made by citizen. Well it does fit but its a very loose fit and the screw is smaller on the citizen. If anyone is interested in buying the later clock, its on ebay now.

They like to shorten words here. Family mart becomes Fami-ma and convenience store becomes Con-ve-ni. Its also easier for them to pronounce. Or its a spelling error and they meant sanitary. Ithis train we rode had a really bizarre Brochure. I just had to snap a pic.

Bored and waiting for a plane here in japan. I saw this in the restroom Above the urinal. Strange place for sanity to be. Gotta love their version of english
  18. yea thats the one. It's on ebay too. better looking than the vette inspired one and cheaper. Neither talks about chassis reinforcement to compensate for no roof. Death trap?

This fairlady has been sitting in this warehouse for years. The seller says its in excellent condition with no rust. Supposedly because the cardboard boxes inside the warehouse absorbed all the moisture. In any case, it looks like its been there a long time. Price at this time is 6700 us dollars. Car has the power window option but has no paperwork. Engine is said to "not work" mileage 76k kilometers I would love to export this car to the usa. This is a rare opportunity because most of these cars were left outside to rust. My mother in law has a 2 car garage in japan. Perhaps I see a new hobby when i retire at the end of this year.
  20. That was a poor mans corvette before they jacked up the price to a real corvette price. One man roll cage give driver lots of leverage to make passenger behave. There is another one on ebay now right that looks better than this one with no roll cage at all. I think the price is 8k.

damn, a kameari stroker crank just came up for auction today. Current bid price is the same as i paid for the LD28 .. Too many parts, too little time. Lots of heavily modified cylinder head up for auction there. Prices are cheap but most are bare heads and I don't know the quality of the work. What kind of compression would this head give? http://page4.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/d163918636 maybe next year i will reserve a whole suitcase to cylinder heads. Those cat cafe's are for hardcore city dwellers that see only concrete day after day.

Picked up a V07 stroker crank to throw in the suitcase. Anyone want a 10,000 rpm Fairlady 432 tach? they're only 650 bucks . That oil pressure gauge I posted in this thread that has the strange scale is from a 432 also. Was watching a video on youtube that was taken in the Hot exclusion zone around the nuclear power plant. There are people that drive there to feed the many stray dogs and cats that were abandoned after the earthquake and nuke meltdown. They drove past a nice 370z that was abandoned in someones driveway. (Not this video but another on youtube). What a shame all the nice cars that were undamaged but left behind and are now highly radioactive. The radiation meter on his dashboard as he drove was beeping very loudly and several times hit an level so high an alarm went off. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yp9iJ3pPuL8 I sure hope this stuff im bringing back wasn't scavenged from this area....
  24. You can't find which ground wire? the one on the top or bottom?

It was for a prince S20 but im afraid there aren't too many people running/building those in north america. I'm afraid it might become wall art. Good to know on the welding. I'm wondering how that metal wears compared to the original forged metal.
