  1. Anyone have a home plating kit and nothing to plate? I've got a radio chassis that needs replating. It doesn't need to be perfect. Name your price.

If it were mine, i'de mount it on the door and get it to fit as close as possible to how its supposed to fit and then i'de glass up that big tear. If you patch it up with it off the car, it might not fit the door correctly because the panel will not be as flexible with fiberglass over the top of it. Let it dry overnight and pull it off and lay 1 layer of matt over the whole door panel. I'de get the thinnest matt you can find too. ultra thin fiberglass matt here

  4. The rust in Imperial beach is ferocious. Was mostly apartments and small beach houses when i lived there in 76. Looks like not much has changed from that picture. No garages so cars just stayed outside in the fog and mist and crumbled. There was liberal use of duct tape back then to hold the cars together. That car is probably from some place else... farther inland Edit: That looks alot like Blue's car. So thats where he went!

Kats, I believe 1973 was the first year USA Z's had unleaded so it looks like Japan got it before we did. I see that Japan has ethenol mixed in your gasoline. Can you get pure gasoline? Have you seen this racing book before?
  6. I have just liability on my Z with allstate and the liability coverage amount is less than half what haggerty has. With haggerty i get comp/collision plus i get the added liability protection for 60$ less a year than allstate! Your cars are insured for more than what you paid for them? Yea don't remind me of those cheap az insurance rates. Dirt cheap!
  7. I want to thank you for reminding me about classic car insurance. I checked with haggerty and their liability coverage is way higher than what i've got with allstate and its a bit cheaper too. What insurance company are you using?

Thanks Kats, wasn't sure that was a tow hook since it was very close to the lower valance panel. It looks like a tight fit to get a cable in there. This unleaded fuel sticker was put on a few years after the car was sold? or perhaps after they changed the valve seats? Can't wait to see your 432. That museum looks very interesting.

That's where i got the hoses from that popped. I'm not blaming them I blame myself for using rubber hose. It just didn't hold up and its in a place thats difficult to replace it. It may have been defective from the start. I will never know. I used the original clamps that don't cut into the hose like the irrigation clamps. Has anyone had good luck with that silicone hose? Looking at the the prices of the braided hose OUCH.

Yea but it lasted 18 years. I should have done mine in galvanized! I thought i was being proactive by replacing the 2 ancient braided hoses that are up under the dash with the aftermarket rubber ones. POP in just a couple years. Why not spend a couple hundred and buy some insulation for the garage? Really cold temps are not good for the rest of the car including the dashboard.

I'm surprised those speakers aren't bad after all these years. That car has been very well taken care of. They replace that oscillator with the later quartz one? That car uses non leaded gasoline? What is this metal piece for?
  12. old backings warped, disintegrating?
  13. power windows and power door locks?

Pulled this off of a 70 owners manual. This mentions the red light so its an A model. Got any B model manuals to compare it to? Saw this manual on ebay a few years ago so there's one out there for the B

To get offers from long distance buyers you need more pictures, preferably close ups of the floor repair areas and the floor overall and the rockers, frame rail sides and under frame rails. Quarter panel dog legs, wheelwells and closeups of the batery tray area. Pictures of the parts that go with the car too.
  18. I moved from az in 2006 and it looks like they changed the law in 2007. So the rules are you have to have collector car insurance and drive it less than what, 10k miles a year? Are there any other restrictions with that insurance? I wish they would have had that when i was there. I imported (bought on ebay) a calif z car that had been labeled a gross polluter and was really worried that the engine wouldn't pass az inspection i.e. engine rebuild. Fixed a few minor things and i was shocked how clean it ran.
  19. Now your next big hurdle is getting it registered and adot smogged.

Ah..you were paying atttention. I should have snapped a picture of that previous price. Looked like a buying frenzy and the high bidder came to his senses after reading and looking at the pictures a second time. It's still a very nice car with just a little metalwork needed on the dog legs and bottoms of fenders.

Where are the Canadian guys? They should be all over this one. Get it running and sell it to a collector outside canada.Take advantage of that horrible exchange rate while you can.

Like that Tokyo Datsun sticker. Nice classic touch. You got me wondering if there were any pure race versions of the ZG and I googled and found a 1973 zg GTS-II I have never heard of this before or i have but forgot (old brain). It has a crossflow head LY28 engine. I'm assuming its an OS Giken head. From what i've read before, the standard ZG has the nose, headlight covers, wider fender flares and what they call group-4 racing specs. Not sure what those are. Edit: Kats i'm going to be in Osaka/Nagoya in may. Any chance you taking me for a ride in that 432?
  25. At 80,000$ this could have been the most expensive Z restoration ever. Add in another 20-30k for the rest of the resto and you're into 6 figures easily. Do you have a nickname for this car?
