Dropped my Z off at the paint and body shop to get the full restoration under way. Some light body work and rust repair/management is under way and in a few weeks... paint and chrome will be added back to the car and then a reuniting of the original engine back to the tranny and body. It's been a few years since they have been together and I look forward to bringing them together and making them as pretty as ever

yeah, I really like the style of the bullets but I was curious if I should pay extra for style and lack of performance. But they look great on your car. The racing ones are just cheaper by the pair and that's my main reason for looking into them

Chuck, That is the exact dilemma I am in right now . How's field of vision with the bullets? Any potential pics/video?

OK guys, I have to get some new mirrors for my 260 seeing as the ones on don't match. I have narrowed it down to the bullets and the chrome racing style. Both from motorsport and the one reason I have this debate is due to the size and cost of the bullets verse the cheaper racing style. Please give your input Racing style: Motorsport! SALE! I got a full clutch assembly, stage 2 I believe, from and sr20 (s13) and I was just curious if it would fit in my stock 260z? I have an offer to buy my whole sr20 engine and I was curious if it was worth keeping that for my Z. Thanks for the help!

No, none of that. I had the car looked over my a different mechanic and the only bondo/rust he found was on the floor pan of the passenger side but can't tell much more because it was coated with that black coating already

Called the dealership for emblems, the can only get the hood and truck ones. No 260z logo ones. Found a set on eBay, but I'm curious if I could "fix" mine that have some of the yellow insert missing on them or fully pull the insert off

Yeah, that's what I was assuming. The shop owner told me he would usually have a starting cost around $7k for this type of work. But was giving me "a deal". This shop has done quality work for me before on other cars but in small areas, not full car. So I trust them, and know they do great work. I just wanted a good number like Jim told me. I know, low budget/crap places offer "the same work" for less then others, but I won't risk that. Madkaw, if I had the ability to do body work and paint I would. However, my skills start at stop with engine repair. I will be taking my knowledge and books into test most when I get into replacing suspension and brakes from drum to disc

understood, but it was more a post to kinda see if I've getting a good price from most of the people on here who have done this before, seeing as how I never have. Most people I talk to (IRL) are say the same low price points and I got quoted higher them people have told me. I know price can start at $2k and sky rocket from there, I just was the comfort of "knowing" I'm in the ballpark of others restorations.

Called up a friend who's family owns a shop to see the rough estimate for my paint and rust repair. $3500, not too bad for a full color change, body work and rust repair. Here's to hoping it doesn't go up! Goodbye white body and hello Daytona Blue Please let me know if this is a reasonable price. I've never done a full restoration/paint before so I don't know the different pricing points.

So it's been decided. I'm going all Daytona blue, loosing the accents and I will be doing the touch up on the emblems myself. Thanks for all the help and advice everyone!!! Any hints/ tips for the emblems would be helpful. Like does the chrome paint pen work as well as a chrome dipped emblem?

So I have narrowed the choices down to Daytona Blue or white. What does everyone thing? The next question is to keep the chrome and rubber accents on or not. I like them a bit and they do separate my car from everyone elses car. The louvers will be getting repainted and are staying for sure.

Drove my Z to the shop to talk about the next steps on the engine rebuild and more. It's going to be a good few weeks!!!

I picked up both cars from the same location. Th white one was my main purchase while the blue one was an engine donor for the while one bc of a blown head gasket. I pulled the engine from the blue one to be rebuilt and put back into the white one to make it a full matching numbers original.

Haha nice!!! I just took pics from the site and google to show my point. As for what I like, I like em all!!! . That's why I needed the help deciding. But the girl likes the blue as well so it's probably gonna be the blue and possibly molded bumpers

Well as the time rolls on and getting closer to the finish date of my engine being done, I do think I'm leaning to the "Shelby" paint job (pic 3).

I was curious if you guys could tell me if these parts are worth be trying to sell/swap or just get rid of. I don't know much about whats what for this stuff. I do know that there are random engine parts and belts (which I'm assuming most people can get new online vs old ones) plus some interior things. Once again though, they came inside my car and I assume they are worthless or could be used as my own "back up" if something breaks and I need a quick fix. Thanks for the help everyone
