  1. AJ, The Paint is in surprisingly good shape. I scrubbed the engine compartment this weekend and that looks pretty good also. I checked the DMV transfer records and its got 75K orig. The guy really took care of this car. My coolant leak appears as if it might just be hoses (I'm hoping). Zman of Wa. is on the lookout for the brake indicator switch. The Z world is full of great people, Thanks everyone for all the tips.

For now I'm going to take you're advice and refresh vice restore. Going to try to keep it as stock as I can.

When I get it presentable I'll post more pics.

  2. Thanks AJ, I had another problem where my brake indicator light would stay on (another thread) I went through everything in the manual and found it was the break warning light lamp check relay which is also the floor temp relay switch. It was smoked. Now on the hunt for the switch. Let me know if you have one or if you know if I can get an after market (generic replacement). It was so cool being able to figure it out. I did a tour in Iraq and took an IED (minor) but for a while it was hard to figure stuff out. I have to read stuff over and over to figure it out. This Z project is the best therapy so far.

  3. Hey Sparks, Just got back into the Z world myself about a month ago. My 77 is in pretty good shape but have already discovered problems. Next project is re-doing the heater core, heater control valve Etc. Have no mechanical ability but its a rush every time I do something right.

All the fluids were full, did a road brake test they worked fine, no pulling same as they always been. Disconnected the sensor under the MC cleaned it light still stayed on, Disconnected the hand break sensor the light still stayed on, Tried disconnecting both sensors at the same time and separately the light still stayed on,is it possible while messing around with the hand break sensor I grounded the wire somewhere past the connection. If not I'm on my way to the brake shop, time for a pro to inspect the brake system anyways. the MC caps do have the sensor wires but they are not connected to anything, nor have they been since Ive owned the car.

  5. Thank you, I will check the fluid levels tommorow. Not very mechanically inclined but trying to learn more daily, keep my service mannual with me at all times. I thought messed up the e brake sensor switch. when i dissconnected and reconnected. On a brighter note Carpets came out great, but found a slight coolant leak on pasenger side. Research leads me to believe its the vacum water **** due to the low volume of fluid. Thanks again reading the posts here have helped me a lot.

Hi, I had a 71 240Z about ten years ago and loved it. Let my wife talk me into to selling it because "it was only a two seater". A couple of weeks ago after months of looking found a very clean 77 280Z. Its in my carport and have already started to spend hours working on it. I joined because I am not so mechanicaly inclined and hope I can find direction and info here. Also looking for anyone in my area that also into the Z life.

    Thanks
