  2. that is the bracket and your interpretation is correct.
  3. Only very early US delivery cars even have the pinch bracket necessary to hold the cable in place above the accelerator pedal but most later 240Z accelerator pedals have the 'slot' for the swaged end of the inner cable. You need to fab a bracket or find an early donor car with it. I worked for a guy who used to check every early car with a flashlight and remove this redundant bracket, (pop the spot weld), then include it in a 'kit' for later 240 owners with the combo cables. My '70 has this combo but was added by me many years ago. Just take the slack out of the cable and it gives a constant rpm suitable for 'bootleg' cruise.

  13. Subject: SEMA Action Network Legislative Alert - CA Senate Reintroduces Legislation to Repeal Old Car Emissions Exemption URGENT LEGISLATIVE ALERT Legislation to Repeal Old Car Emissions Exemption Introduced AGAIN in California Senate As predicted, legislation has been reintroduced in the California Senate to repeal the state's current rolling emissions test exemption for vehicles 30 years old and older. S.B. 708 repeals the current pro-hobbyist exemption and replaces it with an exemption for vehicles that are 45 or more model years old commencing January 1, 2005. We Urge You to Contact Your State Senators Immediately to Oppose S.B. 708 Existing law in California exempts all pre-1974 vehicles from emissions testing until 2003. After 2003, vehicles 30-years old and older are exempt from emissions testing. California's current emissions testing exemption recognizes the minimal impact of vehicles 30-years old and older on vehicle emissions and air quality. Vehicles 30-years old and older constitute a small portion of the overall vehicle population and are a poor source from which to look for emissions reduction. Antique and classic vehicles are overwhelmingly well-maintained and infrequently driven (about one-third the miles each year as a new vehicle). Legislators and regulators are feeling the heat from a failed effort to meet air quality goals and are looking for a convenient scapegoat. The old car hobby should not carry the burden of their mistakes! Contact your state senators to oppose S.B. 708. To find out who your state senators are, contact the California Senate general information line at 916/445-4311. 16. I know the answer because the hardware is mine. It was removed from a 1981 280ZX! The design of the intake manifold is such to be low enough to fit an air cleaner similar to early 510's and allow hood clearance. You have all noted correctly the tangle of emissions componentry. Vehicle was LHD but not US spec. A real piece of Nissan trivia. I recently sold an intake manifold assy. with a Hitachi 2bbl/ manual choke designed for a non smog L20A. A very clean manifold for a simple throttle body/injector install for something like a MegaSquirt.
  17. Sure, come on by. If you like the group you may just end up a member.

  23. From Autoasia: http://www.auto-asia.com/viewcontentprem.asp?page=viewprem&pk=7780 Nissan president Carlos Ghosn says he wants to revive the Datsun brand. Giving a speech in Tokyo on December 3, Ghosn called Datsun a symbol of Nissan's history and expressed a desire to bring it back. He did not specify what types or grades of vehicle the Datsun name would be applied to but left his audience in no doubt that the idea would be followed through. Datsun was the company’s leading brand until 1981, when its changed the brand name to the company name, Nissan. Today, the Datsun is only used on one pickup model sold outside Japan.
