  1. Matt, What you did was just plain DUMB mate. You should've done what I always do when faced with a similar situation. Give the damned fool enough room to overtake and watch his tail lights disappear into the distance. Don't give him the , or at him, or tell him he's :stupid:. That's just asking for trouble. Judging from your narative, I'd say you were as much to blame as he was. 122 mph in a WHAT speed zone ? Losing him then slowing, which allowed him to catch up ? Huh !!! sounds to me like you were tantalising him, almost goading him on. On the other hand, are you sure you hadn't been watching Fast and Furious before sleep ????? e racer 1999' As inf has suggested, get that eye of yours checked out. You can't be too careful when it comes to your eyes mate. Hope the cops get the bum who hit you and that you don't bruise too easily. Rick. :devious: :devious:
  2. CRIKIE WILL, That's a heck of an active imagination you've got mate !!!!!. Before I met the second love of my life, my dream was to have a '39 -- '40 Ford coupe painted a nice, deep emerald green with a gold pearl top coat and all the chrome done in gold chrome. Had I not decided to keep "Precious" as original as possible, that's the colour scheme I would have used. Rick. :devious: :devious:

G'Day Ian, Can't say for sure about the 240Z's but my 260 has a sunroof, (Coenen brand), that been a proper pain in the ......neck. As Coenen no longer exists, it has been a real battle to find a rubber sealing kit for it. Hope you have better luck. Rick. :devious: :devious:

26thZ, The throttle linkage on the right could be from a 260Z. When I first bought "Precious", she had a pair of ALIEN SU's fitted that were set up in a very fire hazardous manner. After being advised by several members to fit 240Z carbs, I did so, but found the accelerator pedal very stiff, causing very rapid acceleration when the pedal was forced. Fortunately, a mate who has four Zeds and lots of bits and pieces solved the problem by fitting a 240Z throttle linkage. He pointed out that the spacer ?? between the carby and the manifold on a 260 is much thicker than a 240's, making it necessary for the end of the throttle linkage to be at a different angle where it joins the accelerator linkage. Having fitted the 240 throttle linkage, my car's acceleration was as smooth as silk. Rick. :devious: :devious:

G'Day there Alan, My "Precious" is a 8/74 260Z. The mudguard/fender emblem is the burnt orange colour. As I am only the 2nd owner and the emblems were on the car when I bought it, I assume them to be correct. Rick. :devious: :devious:

Welcome to the club Ryan, If you take the time to check out the tech threads you'll find a heap of info on Zeds. If you have a problem the odds are that you'll find the answer there. If not, post your problem, sit back, relax and read the various suggestions you'll receive from the very knowledgable people on this site. Enjoy, Rick. :devious: :devious:
  8. G'Day there Tom, Welcome to the club. I'm afraid I live a little too far away from the "Bluest skies you ever saw" in Seattle so I'm of no help to you except to suggest that, if you don't receive an answer, check out the member's list. It'll take quite some time. Rick. :devious: :devious:

AHAAAAA, The return of the prodigal Jeff. Hope those big blows you've been having left your Zed alone. Check your PM's mate. Rick.

Yair, ... O.K, so the second crane truck didn't REALLY dive in after the first, BUT !!!!! BOTH crane operators should have been in deep sh*t from the Workplace Health and Safety point of veiw considering all the onlookers clustered around . Anyone ever seen the effect on a human body a steel rope under tension has when it parts company ????????. Not very nice at all. Rick. :devious: :devious:

I had a bloke come to my home today to give me a quote on a job I want done. As he was about to leave, he happened to glance into the garage. (Now, ... from the angle, he could only see the LF of the car). "Hey !!!!!, what's that ???" he said. "Have you got a Zed hidden in there???". That comment started a conversation that lasted through two mugs of coffee. Whenever I see a new book on Sports Cars on the shelves I check out what is said about the Zed. Quite a few authors describe the Zed as "One of the ten most important cars in the history of motoring". The Zed's success in racing and rallying is very well documented but I think the cars greatest achievement was in the 1971 East African Safari when it virtually made a clean sweep of ALL major placings as well as quite a few minor placings. (Of course, .....we mustn't forget that the DRIVERS played a big part in the car's successes). Rick. :devious: :devious:

Hopefully both the crane operators were O.K. They BOTH should have had more sense than to lift from the side though. :stupid: :stupid: Rick. :devious: :devious:

Hey there Gunner, Good one mate,... reminds me of the time my mother had the whole neighbourhood out searching for her 5 year old son. After a couple of hectic hours he was found curled up, sound asleep with his arms around the family dog, on the floor of the toilet which was situated out in the back yard. I'll sleep anywhere !!!! Rick. :devious: :devious:

Yair Nate, You're dead right there mate. (Hey !!!, that rhymes). The members of the "All Classic Motor Club" that I belong to own Mustangs, Camaros, Firebirds, Fords, Holdens, Morris Minors, M.G's, 'Vettes etc. and nobody has ever put down my Zed. One bloke is a whiz on S.U's. He helped me out when I was having problems. Another is an engine specialist. He's worked on the motor. Then there's the bloke who knows suspensions so well that he found and fixed the cause of a "Bump In The Night" noise, (as Carl described it), that has plagued me and three mechanics for nearly three years. So, Dave, these blokes you refer to as "FRIENDS" are either not worthy of that term or are secretly so jealous of the beautiful Zed you own that they can't form a comparison with their own beasts. Maybe you need to find some REAL friends mate. Rick. :devious: :devious:

Ahhh, Yes, Ajax, As in every club I've belonged to there is the central CORE of members who participate and do all the work while the rest hover around the fringes, making the occasional comment then melting back into the shadows again. That's normal mate. Rick. :devious: :devious:

Matt, Don't mind Will, he's really a nice bloke, :lick: :lick: Your questions are not STOOPID at all mate. It just shows that you're still mentally oriented towards benz's and beemers and not yet fully conversant with Zeds as were most of us at one time,(even Will). If you have the time, browse the tech threads. You'll pick up a lot of info that way. Rick. :devious: :devious:

OOOHhh, ... he'll be O.K. Vicky. If Will and I are correct, he probably needs a jump start to get his motor running again. This is fun, .... having a "Pick on Carl" thread. I'm surprised Billy the Boy hasn't joined in to get his own back after the "Breats" comments. Rick. :devious: :devious:

OH !!!, ..... WELL !!!!, ......That's O.K. then Will, Be it either a Vulvo or a Beemer it's good to see it being put to SOME good use. Couldn't even imagine any of us letting our Zeds get that dusty. Rick. :devious: :devious:

Yair, Tom, Your suggestion reminded me of his comments in the "BOOBS" thread regarding a photo of a car, (a beemer I think), with smudges in the dust. Perhaps you're right, ...laid and still recuperating. Takes a bit longer for us old farts to catch our breath especially if he was greedy and went back for "seconds". :stupid: :stupid: Rick. :devious: :devious:
  25. G'Day there Enrique, According to his profile, he has a '71 240Z. I'm inclined to agree with you re. the tool box liners. Can't think of anything else that matches his description. I spent about half an hour or so going over "Precious" and that's about all I could find that MIGHT be what he's talking about. Rick. :devious: :devious:
