Talk about Coincidences!
Oh, gosh, oh, golly gee willickers, Will, I didn't think of that aspect mate. If that was the case, he'd be in for quite a shock. Have you checked out the rogue's gallery have ya ??? Me good lookin' ???? Yair, .... you're right, ....... I am. Hey, Gary, ... I've still got my fingers crossed mate. She wasn't all that bad for an old chook. Jeff me old mate. You young blokes might think of a Zed as a "chick magnet" but, take my word for it, .... a nice Zed attracts the old chooks as well. Rick. :devious: :devious:

Talk about Coincidences!
Righto you lot, I reckon my story'll beat the rest of you , ... hands down. A few weeks back I was at the hardware store. When I came outside, there was a pretty blue MGB soft top parked next to my Toyota ute. While I was admiring the car, a couple of ladies came out of the shop and approached the MG. We got to talking about classic cars and when I mentioned that I owned a 260Z, one lady said, "Is it that lovely goldy brown one I've seen ?". When I answered "yes", from my instantly increased height of ten feet, she asked me for my phone number. (No Will, not for THAT reason). Lo and behold, that friday I get a phone call from the lady's husband, inviting me to join the members of the local MG car club on a run on the Sunday. HOW'S THAT kiddies ??????? an MG car club INVITING a ZED to join them on a run. Obviously wanted to add some CLASS to their group. Unfortunately, I had to turn down their kind offer. "Precious" had her wheels off getting new rear bearings and UJ's on the half shafts. Never mind, there'll be other runs. Rick. :devious: :devious: Just as a point of interest, when I ordered the parts, I enquired about the cost of new half shafts. Fortunately, I was sitting down when told they were $985.00 each.

Your First car.
Thanks Steve and Lachlan. Yair Bill, they sure are ugly suckers but, like a lot of cars of that period they tended to be reliable and hard to kill. Rick.

70 Z L24 no motor number???
Mike, If the number had been ground off there would surely be tell tale signs of grinding. Most unusual. Perhaps stolen at some time in the past ?????????? It happens. You are looking in the right place aren't you ?????? Right hand side towards the rear ????????????????? Rick. :devious: :devious:

She's DONE!!!
Ed, Reading back through these posts, comments made by some blokes who also have cars to be proud of must make you extremely proud of your accomplishments. Quite rightly so. Hope your old hat still fits mate. Rick. :devious: :devious:

Youngest and Oldest
So, agemeansnothing is 12 years old. Surely he's the youngest member. Or is there someone younger still, lurking in the background ???? And what about the oldest member ???????? I'll start the ball rolling. I'm 62 next month. Anyone beat that ????? Rick.

Your First car.
Yair Bill, You're right there mate, I can't remember them all, ....... it's called short term memory loss, ..... comes with AGE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As Stated, the first was an old Vanguard. Through the passage of time there's been the Major, a few Volkswagens, some Holdens and Fords, the Centura, (I loved that car, SIGH), some Toyotas, a Mazda and a Datsun Stanza, which I gave to my son as a graduation present. (Not in that order). Currently there's "Precious", the '74 260Z, ... the workhorse '89 Toyota Ute ... and "She Who Must Be Obeyed's" car, a '04 Ford Fairmont (but I'm the one who maintains and cleans it). Rick. :devious: :devious:

Your First car.
Good idea Bill. Great minds do think alike. Don't sell yourself short mate. First car huh ???? When I was about 17, (I'm now nearly 62 .... you work it out), I bought an old Vanguard. Had it about two months and the engine siezed up solid. Sold it to the wrecker for 10 pounds. Went without a car till I married in '67. An old Morris Major. Had the bad habit of locking up in second gear due to the gear column turning when changing up out of first. Won't list ALL my cars, take to long but the most memorable was my first NEW car, a '76 KB Chrysler Centura with the same 6 cyl. Hemi motor as the bigger chryslers, coupled to a genuine Borg Warner Auto transmission. She could FLY man, FLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY Rick. :devious: :devious:

The Poms are at it again.
Alan, You say you're NOT very photogenic ??????????????? Try out for a booze ad mate, you might be just what they're looking for. Rick. :devious: :devious:

The Poms are at it again.
Looks like the Poms are suffering from shell shock. An item in the local paper reports that; "British drinks companies have been ordered to hire uglier men for their advertisements, to avoid linking women's boozing and sexual success. Men who star in alcohol ads that target women should be 'balding' and 'paunchy' rather than 'attractive and desirable' under guidance issued by the Advertising Standards Authority". Hmmm, .... I wonder how photogenic our Alan is ??????? Another item reports that; "An amorous British couple who took to the sea in an inflatable dinghy sparked a rescue operation when their lovemaking was mistaken for cries for help. Police and two lifeboat crews were dispatched but soon found the naked man and woman on the tiny boat were certainly not in any real danger". Rick. :devious: :devious:

Restoring fender emblem
Hey there Will, The "Chrome" strips on the door panels seems to me to be more like an alfoil over plastic strips, covered with a clear plastic which gives it the "Chrome" look. The strips can be found in junk yards, on the rear bumpers of reasonably modern cars. A clean up and the application of double sided tape and HEY PRESTO !!!!!!!!!!! Rick. :devious: :devious:

How would you paint your car if?
Hey there Matt, The first time I took "Precious" out for a run after moving down here at the beach, I spotted one of the local cop's cars coming towards me. I could clearly see the two cops leaning forward, peering through the windscreen at the unfamiliar sports car coming towards them. As we passed, I gave them a friendly wave and, believe it or not, they both sat back, waved and even smiled as we passed. They probably thought, "Silly old fart's in his second childhood", but they'd be wrong. I'm not out of my first childhood yet. Rick. :devious:

ATTACKED! A road rage story
Matt, Top marks to you for admitting you were wrong. Some people wouldn't want to "Lose Face". "If only I could have reached my tyre iron" ............ Yair mate, ....... he could have grabbed it off you and hit you with IT !!!!!!!!!!! Guns ??????????? Yair mate, ...... you could just simply blow him away. Then spend the rest of your life in prison. The only people I know who talk about using a gun are those who have never seen someone get blown away. Very few of my mates even own a firearm. They're the sane ones. Rick. :devious: :devious:

Well, the age of miracles is still with us. I don't believe it Will, you actually passed up Bill's comment ??????? Well, ... I won't. Bill, how come your wrists hurt mate ????????????????????? Been changing hands at 100 ????????????????????? Understandable with this thread's subjects. Rick. :devious: :devious:

240Z with a Sunroof
You WANT a sunroof ?????????????? Heck, man, ...you can have mine if you you pay for the work. It might be o.k. for someone whose bum's closer to the ground than mine is. I absolutely HATE bumpy roads 'cause I'm forever bumping my head. Having a sliding sunroof lowers the ceiling by about three inches. Rick. :devious: :devious:
